I guess their theory is that AP holders don't spend as much in the parks which may be true for true So Cal residents but as Utah AP holders, we spent a ton. My guess is the same for anyone who has to travel and stay in a hotel. Maybe the local AP numbers are out of hand? But, if that were the case, then I'd think they'd do away with the payment plan. If I lived in CA, I'd be all over that.
And the payment wins it over for us too. Right now we pay like $25 a month for both of ours because we upgraded from a three day. I think with the meal and merchandise discount it makes it a good deal for us. With the distance we drive and Scotty's work schedule being what it is they aren't losing money on our APs.
The percentage breakdown was much larger on the local APs than on the other APs. I think they are trying to dissuade some of the locals.
