I guess their theory is that AP holders don't spend as much in the parks which may be true for true So Cal residents but as Utah AP holders, we spent a ton. My guess is the same for anyone who has to travel and stay in a hotel. Maybe the local AP numbers are out of hand? But, if that were the case, then I'd think they'd do away with the payment plan. If I lived in CA, I'd be all over that.

And the payment wins it over for us too. Right now we pay like $25 a month for both of ours because we upgraded from a three day. I think with the meal and merchandise discount it makes it a good deal for us. With the distance we drive and Scotty's work schedule being what it is they aren't losing money on our APs.

The percentage breakdown was much larger on the local APs than on the other APs. I think they are trying to dissuade some of the locals.

Exactly! I think you're right but then why increase the Premiums so much? I'm not sure but I'd guess quite a few locals have the most limiting AP. I don't know if it was a 17% increase across the board, I didn't check local prices.

Been a crazy weekend. Everyone is just kind of chilling out. M is at the FD. I made a taco salad for dinner which the kids liked.....NOT. They are so spoiled by M's cooking but at least this was fairly healthy. Ground seasoned lean turkey burger, let, tom, salsa, avocado, sour cream, and chips if they wanted. Haters. :rotfl2:

It sounds like Disney is making money hand over fist this weekend over it too. I know that there is a thread with people talking about buying their new ones online last night and not getting their email for hours. Plus someone I follow on twitter showed the ticket booths last night with people lined up like on a holiday weekend waiting to get tickets. So they made a ton yesterday but I think in the long run it will hurt. Ironically it hit me after I posted on here last time that my payment didn't come out of my account this week like it should have. I remember that the account I used for our APs has a new card so I have to call them tomorrow morning. Plus Sirius radio.

Your food sounds great. I went the lazy route today. It is so hot here I do not want to cook, normally I would grill but I am not even doing that. It is a cold dinner tonight.

That's such a pain to change accounts. I inevitably forget the gym or some other auto debit and end up getting a phone call.

Taco salad was very lazy. Cooked to table in less than 30. :thumbsup2 And then ice cream. :cloud9: How hot is it there? It was 80* here and set to be 91* tomorrow. My biggest concern is next Saturday. It's set to be 78* and sunny. I'd like it to stay that way. Perfect. Our luncheon is set to be outside so that's perfect. pixiedust:

I can't even imagine the swarms of calls and people buying their passes yesterday. It seems that they announce and then give a day or two max leeway to buy your media. It's crazy. There's virtually no warning.

It was 91* today. It is cooling off nicely tonight though so hopefully tomorrow will not be as hot. I am melting. It is my own fault, I won't spend the money to replace the central air. The cost to run it is prohibitive and I just can't justify it to myself.

I love it when it is high 70s* to mid 80s*. Being outside you definitely don't want it to be too hot.

How's your planning? I'm trying to get a grasp on how Fantasyland is going to look during our trip. Are they building a whole new FL? Or just refurbing a lot or a combo?

It's combo, but mostly all new. The Beast's Castle and Ariels place will be all new. Dumbo will be pretty much new, I think it's in a different location and there are two carousels. Snow White's Scary Adventures will be replaced with the Seven Dwarves Mine Train and Goofy's Barnstormer is getting a face lift to a new ride. I think that the size of Fantasyland is doubling in size.

River Country DVC? Haven't seen a thing! Link or info please20091035366. Where would they put it? I think between the VWL and THV they may have tapped that market but who knows? I'm enjoying the Poly DVC expansion rumor.

Do you know where the original River Country Park was? I never went there, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of the VWL, not on Bay Lake, but whatever that lake is that you can see from the center section of Bay Lake Tower, I think. It was a precursor to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon except you got to swim in the lovely waters of Bay lake!

From some of the threads that I've read is that they are trying to push the market to where it is not as saturated. If they can get more money out of folks and keep the parks not so crowded, that seems to be their goal. They have done it across the board. Our APs are different, but no one would believe the price increase!

We've got a ton of tournaments coming up, Avalance, Wasatch, Park City's.....do you know the name or date? We've got a lot of changes too. Gabby's coach is quitting. :headache: Josh is being recruited to a new club. So glad it falls on me as tryouts are when M is traveling. ;)[/COLOR]

Who knows, we've had quite a bit of soccer drama over the past few days, ultimately all good really (well except for the rolled ankle and the fact that something MAY...probably will.... impact our trip) but a LOT of changes for K coming up, including club and coach. It's the right move for her but oh is it going to hurt the pocket book!

All I know is it's in a "couple of weeks" and in Utah. Which would imply Avalanche. However a couple of weeks in Kendall's world really could be any time in June. LOL! Hopefully we will have the first parent meeting this week (and Jeff will actually get on the email chain in time to make sure we don't miss it...as his ex will NOT tell him when it is on her own unless she can't go)

Tryouts were this weekend so now the flurry of registrations begins, we will see what they get into but it's going to be a whopper of a travel year, looks like Utah, plus CA x2 just this summer if they get into what they want (not including local ones), and I'm betting on CA again for Thanksgiving and Az or NV for President's weekend. Most of the girls will be going to AZ for the Far West regionals but as K wasn't on this team for this years State Cup, she won't be. Which is fine with me, the travel costs are already staggering. I'll update on the potential trip impact on my PTR sometime this week.

Thank you. I'm excited for the Beast's Castle. Is Ariel's set to be a ride? I think a mine train sounds fun but I do love Snow White. Wonder if she'll be a part of the ride? Wow as far as size. What's the completion date?

I'm not very familiar with WDW, we've only been twice, once in 2007 and then in 2009. I'm a newbie. :p I can't even picture this.

So the local APs went up too? How much did they go up? Very interesting. And the economy is hurting? :confused3 I know people are tight but someone is spending that's for sure. With Carsland and less DCA dead space, hopefully they'll make it more than a 3/4 days park. :thumbsup2

Wow, she's good!! :thumbsup2 We don't do any sort of travel like that with this team. Gab's team is a D3 which means I'm paying for her to have fun and learn some new skills. Her club is a good one but they don't place many kids in colleges. Joshua is moving to a new club who places a ton of kids. He's far more into it. Good luck at the try out and tournaments and getting the info from Jeff's ex. ;)

And I agree, the travels prices are astounding. Our try outs are next week.

Let me know what happens. If she comes to Utah, will you be joining her? I believe the Avalanche trounamnt is in SLC. I'd totally come meet you for lunch. :cool1: Park City is soon too. Another great spot for a bite.

Bat mitzvah is in 5 days! Panic has taken over!

The Bat mitzvah will be amazing! How incredibly exciting.

Yes, K is Div1 and her new team, which is actually her old team from a few years back, is very very good. Hopefully she'll get the playing time she didn't before, she's really evolved as a player over the past couple of years while on the other club (no thanks to that club but definitely thanks to HS soccer).

It is Avalanche and it's in Park City. But nope, I won't be going. For multiple reasons. 1, her mom probably will. 2, cost. At their ages not all parents go to all tournaments any more and frankly it's not in the budget for any of us to go. 3. Both of the E's have events here I need to take them to. Jeff may try to go to the Pleasanton Rage tournament, really we'd all like to go to that one as we could visit his dad and step mom but I don't see it happening financially. Right now it sounds like there is only one local tourney this summer but the schedule isn't set yet. Our first concern is to get on the email list again. LOL!

Gabby's old team played Avalance two summers ago. The refs were horrible. Gabby's coaches are gay and the refs called our coaches terrible names :furious: I wrote letter after letter to only get some generic *we'll speak to the refs* response. Total garbage. Its a beautiful backdrop and amazing place to play but by far the least of my favorite tourneys. It's good though she can travel with her team. I wish mine did a little more traveling ing. That tournament experience is so fun for them, like the cherry on the sundae.

We are living the same life, I swear. We have a local tournament this weekend. Josh is missing the Saturday game due to Chloe's big day but can you believe I've got a soccer game the night before her bat mitzvah? :faint:

I can't BELIEVE that! that's awful. UGH.

Honestly if I had to guess, the main reason they are even doing it at all is to have the team be fresh for far west regionals the following week. If they weren't in regionals (and K isn't) I bet they wouldn't be doing it. Not positive but that's my gut as it seems to be the best option on short notice at that level of play.

K's old team has a tourney this weekend, so I'm happy that we don't have that...we actually have very little booked this weekend, which is weird. I don't even think it's actually hit me that it's a long weekend! The funny thing about avalance will be that it looks like Eric will ahve an all day scouting thing, Evan has a youth group overnighter and K will be in utah so Jeff and I might have some nice alone time that weekend! LOL.

Yes, I can TOTALLY believe you have a game the night before her big day.

Alone time? I know I've heard the phrase but can't recall what it is. :rotfl2: That would be very nice for you.

I hope she does well in the tournament. Does their team plan where they stay etc? There are a slew of condos and timeshares in Park City. For hotels, The Hampton Inn is the best because there is a Ruby Tuesday's right there, literally across the parking lot. We stayed there for Gabby's bday. There are a few pics on my FB.

I so forgot it was a holiday weekend. I'm sure Joshua's bar mitzvah won't be on a major holiday weekend. Arbor Day ::yes:: , Memorial Day? Heck no! We've had a lot of regrets due to the weekend and sports tournaments. Chloe is actually quite pleased to have a smaller audience though. I'm happy if she's happy. Thank G-d for Ativan.

:woohoo: Our SW flights dipped again so I booked them. We land at MCO at 9 pm. Later than I would have liked so I am so glad I booked the AoA for that arrival night. We'll grab our bags, take ME to the AoA, I'll check in and send the rest to the food court. It closes at midnight so we should have enough time. I really wanted to check the resort out but looks like it will have to wait until morning. Pool stays open until 11 pm with a life guard but hear you can swim as late as you want as long as your quiet. We'll see what time allows. with our SW points we had to pay very little OOP. :thumbsup2

Alone time? I know I've heard the phrase but can't recall what it is. :rotfl2:

isn't that when you lock yourself in the bathroom, turn on the shower to block out the "mom" being yelled from outside the door and ignore the fingers ;peeking underneatht he door?

It's a big tournament weekend here too, odd for us that we actually don't have anything going on! Parents meeting is tonight so we'll get the scoop, or as much as is known. Historically this club is really on top of it at the first meeting (compared to the one she just left) so we will see. They to plan where they stay, get room blocks, team dinners, all that rot. :lmao: glad it's not me doing it but assuming the same person is functioning as team manager, she is on top of it. Even if we find her a bit much at times, she is good at it, and she's grown on us since we left the club via the HS team.

Believe it or not we may have ANOTHER change on top of this one..not soccer related. Although I do think the soccer change possibility enabled this one to get back on the table.

Which may beget yet ANOTHER change as a result.

:rotfl:

Yay for having flights booked! Our countdowns are so close together, mine is 136 days!

Sorry I disappeared for a little while. :)
I can't believe the bat mitzvah is THIS weekend! I'm sure everything will be great but I would imagine it's stressful.
I'm shocked that the gay coaches were called names. So upsetting.

A trip change? What kind of change? Don't leave me hanging!!! And a chain reaction if change? :rotfl2: You're killing me!

A good team manager is worth their weight in gold that's for sure. :thumbsup2 Joshua is moving teams and clubs and I don't want anything to do with team manager. I want to write my check and support my child but want none of the political garbage that comes with comp soccer. It's nuts people. Parents are insane! :scared:

:) Hope everything is okay.

It was disgusting. The parents of the other team weren't much better. :sad2:

Yes this weekend! :hyper: My kiddush committee has been having an email frenzy of the good kind! We're a small but solid congregation. :grouphug: I love them. Even more than my honey when it comes to this stuff. ;)

He's great. He picked up the programs today. I still don't have any kippot. :faint: Kool Kippah, for future reference, emailed and said they'd be here the 24th. Nothing like cutting it close.

Chloe is cool as a cucumber. It's unreal. She's ready.
