Kidani in July

I made reservations for Kidani in July. Do any of you know if there will still be construction? Will all savannas be open? Will all animals be out by that time? I'm not getting clear answers from MS. I'm not saying you guys know more than Member Services or anything but..............yeah I think you do!!

Sunset savanna (the largest one) will be open, the new very northern end of the building savanna will not be, neither will any of the rooms facing that savanna. Restaurant, store, pool, lobby are all supposed to be done. Mostly what will not be done is internal of many rooms (it looks like most of northern wing will still be under construction although even that is all to be done by Sep 1 which means by July it should be close to finishing.

I was told by MS when I booked for June for Kidani village that the pool/restaurant etc would be operational. There are pictures somewhere about the construction and it looks almost done - but what do I know where I will try to find them for you. We are booked June 22-26 as a leap of faith - especially since it is my friend from college and her two kids and me and my two kids - I want them to buy DVC so that we can always go together d/t our kids getting along awesomely!!!

Thanks for your inputs and opinions. We were actually just there the first week of December. Though we didn't stay at AKV we did visit for a wonderful meal at Bomas. While we were there, we checked out the construction. Things really looked like they were coming along, but when I callled this morning to make my July ressies, MS said that the savanna might not be ready and the animals might not be out. I have to say that when we saw it a few weeks ago it was just alot of dirt. I hope it will be lush and ready to go in July. It's a waste of points for a savanna view otherwise.

What is the word on restaurants? Sit down and/or counter? Would counter be like Maras? Another buffet like Bomas? It will have it's own store, market area?

There will be one sit down restaurant, no counter service, no buffet. That restaurant will serve two meals a day, breakfast and dinner (or lunch and dinner -- Disney has reported it both ways but breakfast and dinner is latest). There will be a pool bar which is also to have some short order items that you can get, and a store that should have the small grocery area like other Disney stores.

We are staying at Kidani two nights in July....28th and 29th. We also savanna view....sure hope we see animals.

Same with us. We will be there that week also in a 1 bedroom, savannah view. Hmmm? It's late as I'm still up wrapping gifts and so I can't think right now, but can someone remind me of policy around making changes? If the savannah is not going to be ready, then we don't need to spend the extra points for savannah view, so what is our option for changing (that is pending availability)?

I think we can change anything up until 31 days prior to arrival. If you make a change after that and the nights are less points you will have points go into holding. So if you are going to make a change do it before that 31 day mark. Remember if you borrowed any points to make that ressie.....then those points can't be banked. They stay in your current UY.

I am going to keep track of the savannah progress and if it looks like it won't be done, I am going to switch to Jambo House as we promised our daughter that we were going to eat breakfast on our balcony with the animals. She normally loves pool views at Jambo House (she loves swimming and people watching), but this time we asked her if she would like the savannah view and she said that she would give up the pool view this time as she wants to show her baby brother the animals from our room.

I thought this is not going to help you either. I thought i read some where that when the sunset savanah isn't available starting in jan. That people who reserved later would get the sunset savannah that won't have the animals? So the people who reserved earlier who get the savannah view?

Am i not remmebering correctly? I just wouldn't want your back up plan not to work.

The animals are supposed to be back on the Sunset Savannah by April 15. The rooms opening May 1 should face the Sunset Savannah. The ones opening in September will face the new savannah.
