Kick'n It at Kidani (aka Am I Becoming a Resort Snob?)Final Update 8/20 p.54

So when I left off the boys had just gotten on the bus to Epcot and the rest of the gang was heading through the world showcase for dinner at Teppan Edo.

I found it necessary to keep stopping so I could take pictures. Why do I always do that?

I wasn't there for flower and garden festival, but hey, I can dream.....

Yeah, A Boat! I was supposed to be photographing boats and this one the first one I've seen all day.....

I had an ADR here for September (R&C), but I just changed it when I upgraded to the DxDP. I decided to try Flying Fish instead.

I stopped taking pictures for awhile because everyone got too far ahead of me. I couldn't resist this group in Morocco....

Right before we arrived at Teppan Edo the older boys texted me that they had just arrived. I texted.....Hurry. Walk Fast. Do you think they listened? We were not able to check in until our entire party arrived so I told the boys to text me as soon as they hit Morocco. In the meantime, we waited here for awhile......

Then here for awhile......

For two athletic, soccer playing boys it sure took them a long time to get to Morocco, so we also waited here for awhile......

Finally....we saw them....the elusive teenagers....moving at a lightening pace to forage for food.

Oh wait....they did not need to forage when someone else was paying the bill. After we finally got checked we did some more waiting here .....for awhile.....

I'm sure it was 45 - 60 minutes past our original ADR time when we finally got seated. But at least we didn't miss it all together. And it was worth the wait. This is the third time I've tried to eat at Teppan Edo. The first time was in 2007. I had an ADR for 2 days after the restaurant was scheduled to reopen. It did not and we ended up eating at the now entilted, Tutto Italia. I don't remember what it was called then. Actually, our meal was not bad. I remember being scared because all the dining reviews were scathing. Out consolation prize was a preferred viewing area for Illuminations. That was nice! I was supposed to eat at Teppan Edo last June, on Father's day. It was the last night of our 8 night trip and we all decided we would rather go to MK that evening, so we canceled. So finally, finally, finally I was about to eat at T.E.

It certainly did not disappoint. I really enjoyed this meal. The food was good and the entertainment was perfect. I started with some type of Saki cocktail. I want to say it was a Sakirita, but I'm not sure. Whatever it was, IT was tasty. I chilled right out after drinking that. DH had some type of Japenese beer and the kids had lemonade.

Here is our waiter. He did a great job. Unfortunately I missed taking a pic of the volcano and all of his other antics. I must have been afraid to let go of my Sakirita, for fear that it might disappear.

This nice couple shared our table. I had a hard time hearing them since I was on the opposite end, but this guy kept all the boys entertained with his stories.

LJ had the chicken, I had the chicken and shrimp, several of the boys had the steak. I just remember really liking the food, the noodles, the diping sauces, and the veggies. It was just the right amount of food. I did not feel stuffed when I was done eating. I seriously can not remember what everyone had for dessert. I need to look at a menu, but Ginger cake sounds like a possibility (or am I way off here?)

After dinner we said good bye to our new friends, and to the older teens who decided to go to HS for EMH. DH, LJ, DS14, and I started walking around the world showcase to find a spot for illuminations. We stopped in America.

Woooh....Am I holding my stomach in because I am getting ready to pop or to burp????? Not the most flattering picture. LOL!

OK - now here is a much cuter picture. LJ must have been calling home to check in with mom. I think she tried to call while we were at Teppan Edo and there was no chance of hearing her:

If my memory serves me right, LJ purchased his first pin here. It was see through Mickey ears filled with red, white, and blue confetti. A perfect first pin for his laynard.

Up next......do we make it on Malestrom before Illuminations?.....and.... I spy a dessert party! Uhhhm!

Isn't it so great when you can DIS at work? When is your trip, BTW? Do we overlap? My next trip is 9/20-24. Its a quickie, no kids trip.

Oh LL - You definately have to try it. I know some people think it's just ehh, but I really liked it. It's loud, it's happy, everyone is laughing, and the food is good. The dipping sauces are yummy! Oh.....and the list of Saki drinks just goes on and on!

OOOH...doesn't Teppan Edo just look like a great meal and entertainment doesn't get any better than that!!

Speaking of Disney pins and lanyards (been looking into those) I love LJ's!!!!

After we finished trying on hats and LJ purchased his first "real" pin, my DS14 grabbed me by the hand and said, "Come on. Let's go ride the boot in Norway before the fireworks start". I told him "No", because I really didn't think we had time. He insisted we go. "Hurry. Let's run". He started pulling me. I told him I refused to run and I just wanted to find a place to watch Illuminations without a bunch of people in front of me.

Wait.....I almost forgot.....before this all happened I spied an Illuminations dessert party being set up. I actually wondered if it was for a wedding and I decided to lurke around for a few moments and take some pics.

They weren't the greatest pictures, but it sure was fun imagining what all those desserts would taste like. Yum!

I didn't lurke long because before I knew it my DS was leading LJ onto the Malestrom. "Come on. We have plenty of time. Let's go". I had no choice but to follow. All the time, under my breath I said, "We better not miss Illuminations. grrrrrr". Well at least I got some boat pictures. I hadn't been doing too well in the boat photography department.

The end of the ride.....

There was no movie tonight.....No way.....No how...... I don't think it was even playing, but if it was.....eh eh. Of course, I rushed LJ through the obligatory Troll picture.

Then it was off to see Illuminations. My DS was gloating, "I told you so".

The start of the show......

Cool show. I like it better everytime I see it. I have never watched from Norway before and I must admit that its a pretty decent viewing spot. I got there at the last possible second and still had good visibility. Some nice lady let LJ stand up front so he could see. His response to the evening, "AWESOME"!

So that's a wrap on Day 3. Up next..... Day 4 and a visit to Hollywood Studios.

Thanks Jen. Day 3 was a lovely, relaxed day, even if it was sidetracked by the dreaded rash. Teppan Edo was lots of fun. I was thinking about lunch there in September. It's just so fun to watch those guys cook. They've got it down to a science.

LJ did pick a pretty cool laynard. It was really an adult size, but that was the one he wanted!

We LOVED Teppan Edo in April. Everyone really fought me about going there, but I begged, and it turned out to be everyones favorite meal (probably because I paid) lol.

Our dates will overlap. We will be there from 9/20-9/22 at AKL on the CS plan and then from 9/22-9/29 on the DxDDP at AKV!! I am getting SO excited!

Are you going to do photopass? I was thinking of starting a photopass share group.

I'm glad LJ's rash got better and you were able to enjoy some fun aroundthe resort before heading to Epcot! I agree about no CS at Kidani! What's with that?! To me it seems like poor planning on their part! I do love the Mara! It was wonderful when we stay at AKL in 05 but that's really far from Kidani isn't it?! They need to put something in at Kidani!

Your dinner at TE sounds wonderful!! It's on my list of places to go at some point! I think it would be fun to take the whole group in January but we'll see!

I'm glad you got to see Illuminations and could actually see! I hate not being able to see the whole thing! We stood in a huge crowd once and couldn't see the stuff on the water so annoying!

So you can read at work, but not post? I can post, but I can't see any pics. Actually, I can see flickr pics, but most people don't use that site. I try not to post updates from work, since my pics are all in photobucket and I can't access them.

You trip sounds fun. Nine days and 7 on deluxe dining! Wow! Do you have a PTR? I'll have to check your siggie.

I was undecided about photopass, but I might be persuaded to do a photopass share. I couldn't do it this past trip. It was just too crowded and I didn't want it to rule my days. Last December DH and I did it, but we didn't end up with enough pictures to warrant purchasing it. What I do like about photopass is handing the photographer MY camera!

Thanks. Yeah, I found it a bit annoying that there was no CS. I know you can take the bus down to Jambo, but who wants to do that just for lunch? Unless, of course, you are headed down to Jambo anyway. It was even worse when I checked in at the gift shop to see how I could use my snack credits for breakfast foods. They directed me to these tiny, prepackaged muffins and danishes that belonged in a vending machine. Yeah - right - why would I waste a snack credit on that? I just turned up my nose and caught the bus to Jambo. They DEFINATELY need some nicer breakfast items. The crossaints, dansishes, muffins, ect at Mara were so far superior.

We really did enjoy Teppan Edo. It's just different and even more entertaining cause its disney. We did have a great last minute spot for Illuminations viewing. I may go there again in September. Up until then I was pretty set on watching from Fance. In fact, that's why I scheduled R& C for dinner......not because I like the food (because nothing on the menu really appeals to me), but because I wanted to watch from the patio!

What a wonderful end to a wonderful day!

I know that a lot of people who get married in Disney do it as part of their wedding package. I'm not sure who else qualifies. But I'm sure it helps to have an ample pocketbook!

Oh I am sorry but I am



with the teens strolling to dinner. We had ADR wait issues twice while Steven took off to get a drink. Huge UGH on your wait past your ADR time. That waiting area was insanely packed when we were there, not the best place to wait.

But worth it. I'm glad you liked it as much as we did.

And impressive that it was that late on your ADR, you hit Malestorm AND made it to Illuminations on time! Great pics. I love the hats and what a perfect first pin for LJ!

Your Illuminations pictures are great! In all the times we've been to Epcot we've never gotten a seat with a good view. Last year we tried to watch from the Mexico cs area and thought we had a great view til some latecomers sat down right in front of us and blocked our view.
