Kick'n It at Kidani (aka Am I Becoming a Resort Snob?)Final Update 8/20 p.54

:rotfl: happy now? :rotfl::rotfl:

I am:rotfl2:

Is it wrong that I feel sooo much better when i read about my own meltdowns in other peoples TRs???? Its nice to know I'm not crazy...we all have had those GRRRRRRRR!!!!!! moments!!! I did the same thing... almost verbatem.... only on the HM....:rolleyes1 and during fantasmic, now that I think about it... just with out the moving floor:lmao:

Paula

Ugghhh, I would have snapped completely, too -- after the whole round of cell phone calls on Spaceship Earth and then DH using that tone -- it would have taken a saint to remain unperturbed.

Of course, the literature teacher in me is struck by the irony of all of this happening on the ride that highlights "communication" through the years.

Ah, the Electric Umbrella -- the universal spot for cooling down after a meltdown! :thumbsup2

On a bright note, those crepe myrtles are gorgeous! :lmao:

Mary Ellen,

If all that happened out of all of that was

Shut Up

I think you did remarkably well!

Oh the tone DH's can get (yes, us too, it's not fun no matter which side you are on). So sorry you had to go through all that!

And are awfully nice to go sit and wait to meet DS out front. I'd bet money my DH would have made whatever kid it was wait out front for him, and he'd meet him there at xx time, making the kid the one to wait. Or said fine, then you'll have to just stay in the room all day until we come back. Or text the other kid to go wait out front to meet him or return with the safe key. Nice of you to just help him out but I have to admit

:rotfl: at the "I need to shower first". That is SOOOOO something DSS would do! Does.

The dead cell phone.

The forgotten charger

The charger that doesn't charge

The phone dropped in the pool, left in the bathroom, landed on while jumping on a trampoline.

Oh wait. I digress.

I hate the dead cell phone. On the positive side at least he called to let you know it WAS dead. I could DSS leaving the hotel room, getting to the water park and being completely lost, but just going in and being by himself all day and NO ONE KNOWING until it was time to try to find him.

So. At least he called! Before leaving the room even!

I'm glad to see you have a more peaceful ride on SE coming up, I'd have needed a nap (and a strong drink) after that.

Your melt down sounds just like what I would do. OK you are almost finished with your TR and I am not even to the half way mark. I have been soooo bad with my TR. I need to get on a ball, but just havent had the umpth to do it. :sad1: There has been to much going on lately.

All I can have to say is GOOD FOR YOU!

I would have done/said the same thing!

After the phone call fiasco, dropping the water and then that tone!! I'm all too familiar with that tone and that is one thing I just can't deal with! That's probably the exact same tone where my DH say MELISSA, emphasis on the L and A, and I just wanna smack him! ERRR!!! I am a grown women! **** happens! DON't talk to me like that especially because you (DH) do stupid stuff way more often then me! :snooty:

I hope you time in Epcot proved more relaxing after all and you really did get a more enjoyable ride on SE!

MEK, I think you handled that all extremely well! I would have said a lot worse than Shut Up and I probably would have kept going on after the ride. :rolleyes1

I hope the rest of your day was much better than the beginning.

No, it is never wrong to feel better about someone else's meltdown. I felt better when I read about CP's meltdown. It happens. I think all the months of obsessive planning, the crowds, and the heat just precipitate it. It was definately not my finest moment and, later, DH made a point to tell me just how many people stopped talking and looked around to stare! :sad2:

Ugghhh, I would have snapped completely, too -- after the whole round of cell phone calls on Spaceship Earth and then DH using that tone -- it would have taken a saint to remain unperturbed.

Yeah - it was the condescending tone that set me over the edge. That accusatory way my name was pronounced just made me boil. You're right - it is pretty ironic that it happened on a ride about communication. EU must be the universal "cool down" spot!

The crepe myrtles were very pretty. Wouldn't have gotten those pictures without the whol unfortunate incident.

I think it was bad because my SHUT UP felt like it came out at 500 decibles. I can have a loud voice! I would have made my son wait for me,but the whole lack of cell phone had me freaked. I use the cell phone like a GPS tracker to find out where my kids are. Not being able to call them at a moment's notice bothers me. You are too funny with all your cell phone mishaps. But you forgot - the cell phone in the washing machine! That's always a goody and the reason I now always buy a holder for mine! :rolleyes1 I am glad that Nick called me to notify me of his situation and the phone call only ended up being $15 instead the $25 dollars for 3 minutes I anticipated!

Hey Jen - don't worry about going slow on your TR. I am just trying to get mine done so I can read everyone else's!

All I can have to say is GOOD FOR YOU!

I would have done/said the same thing!

:rotfl2: See, you understand exactly how I felt with my DH. It's not what you say, it's how you say it! I think I did want to smack him (or hit him with my bag, if there had been anything left in there that hadn't spilled out). That rest of the day is much, much better.

MEK, I think you handled that all extremely well! I would have said a lot worse than Shut Up and I probably would have kept going on after the ride. :rolleyes1

I hope the rest of your day was much better than the beginning.

LL: I wanted to say a lot worse than SHUT UP, but LJ was around and that would have been totally uncool, so I just spit out the meanest SHUT UP I could muster!

My day did get a lot better after that!

MEK-just starting reading your TR-I can't believe I missed it before especially with your title-but I've been know to walk into walls also...:confused3

I've just gotten through page 8 and i am enjoying it very much. You have simply gorgeous photos of Asia in AK and your family is lovely too...;)

(Too funny the way you are turning your nephew into a thrill ride junkie...:rotfl:-should be a fun surprise for his parents when he gets home:-)

Looking forward to going back and reading more...

Awww...MEK with everything going on I would have melted down too...although it didn't sound like a big meltdown...you handled everything just fine!!!

I can't wait to hear to more about your evening!!!

That was very diplomatic of you considering all you were doing to keep it together with 4 boys!!:thumbsup2
Very nice pictures you took while you were waiting! ;)

OUCH on the $15, I wouldn't have expected it to be that high. that is brutal.

:rotfl2: washing machine. Ok that one hasn't happened yet! Even funnier that is was your phone.

T did just take his out with the trampoline incident last week. Lucky for him I'd upgraded in Feb so he could have my old one, even with insurance a replacement would have been $100 since landing on your own phone isn't exactly covered.

We feel the same about being able to call them. However that only works IF THEY ANSWER THE PHONE! lol. They rarely do. Texting is better with K but T is pretty hit or miss to get ahold of if WE need something. Very accessible when HE needs something. At 14 I wouldn't have let him stay either. The 16 year old....maybe.

Glad to hear it got better.

WOW-MEK-I've got a little stomach bug so I've had a chance to read the rest of your Trip Report...

Your "meltdown" was very human, very understandable-you had down a lot of work to plan your trip-and it all sounded very, very good and well planned and then to get a call that one son was left back at the room with NO PHONE... and the other one is at a water park with no MONEY...that's pretty stressful and then to worry that your nephew is about to be hurt and have DH use a "tone" with you...I think 9 out of 10 women would have had some sort of meltdown and the other 1 in 10 is probably heavily medicated...

My DH has a tone but in my opinion he also has the look of condescension-the oh isn't that just like the little wifey...he would deny it and he really doesn't do it often...but when he does...that look drives memad...:headache:

Anyway all things considered I think you handled yourself pretty well...and I look forward to see what happens...

BTW-you might have convinced me to ride ToT-just maybe...

Morning All!

I just want to thank everyone from reading along! I have reached over 500 posts and that is a record for me! :thumbsup2 I know I cheated a little bit when I responded with individual replies, but sometimes these work computers are slow when opening multiple windows!

1. Yes...I am happy to have read the meltdown!!
2. I don't blame you in the least! In fact, I think I would've handled a bit more animated than you did! I am in no way a baby, but am emotional and would definitely cried just for need of getting it all out!! You seemed to have held your composure quite well! We may tell our kids not to say shut up because "be quiet" is nicer, but sometimes a husband deserves it! :lmao: Anyway, all turned out ok and everyone was safe and that is what is important!

HEY PPP:

I think I've seen you over on LL's or Wigd's TRs. Welcome and thank for reading. I am glad you are enjoying it. Glad you like the pics. And yes....LJ is a certifiable thrill rid junkie! :thumbsup2

I had to come back to add..."Walking into walls" .......funny!

Awww...MEK with everything going on I would have melted down too...although it didn't sound like a big meltdown...you handled everything just fine!!!

I can't wait to hear to more about your evening!!!

You know - I didn't think it was a big melt down either..... at first.....until DH told me that EVERYONE turned around to look to see who was yelling! :scared: That's when I realized that it was a true meltdown!

That was very diplomatic of you considering all you were doing to keep it together with 4 boys!!:thumbsup2
Very nice pictures you took while you were waiting! ;)

Tracy

Thanks Tracy! Now you know why one of my alternate titles is, "With God as my witness, this is my last trip with teenagers" I was soooooooo done with them by the time we were ready to leave. It will take me two years to forget. I already told them - no trip to WDW next summer. We will do a beach house instead!

OUCH on the $15, I wouldn't have expected it to be that high. that is brutal.

:.

Long distance hotel phone calls are NEVER a good thing. NEVER!

:rotfl2: washing machine. Ok that one hasn't happened yet! Even funnier that is was your phone.

I'll tell you a little secret - I have actually put two phones in the wash. I got mine out before it was totally destroyed. My DH dried out the battery in the oven and it worked for a long time after that. Except - it wouldn't turn off. Pretty funny when flying ....turn phone off and about 3 minutes later it would turn back on. I put DS's through the wash once, but didn't discover it until it hit the dryer. I told my family they are responsible for emptying their own pockets!

T did just take his out with the trampoline incident last week. Lucky for him I'd upgraded in Feb so he could have my old one, even with insurance a replacement would have been $100 since landing on your own phone isn't exactly covered.

.

Yeah - I'm sure the insurance didn't cover it. Everyone in my house is just about ready for an upgrade. But I told DS Nick he doesn't get one until he starts leaving his phone on and recharged.

HEY PPP:

Glad you got to finish the TR. Isn't it funny that there are a lot of DH's out there with the "look" or "tone". My DH also sometimes says, "SA" Meaning situational awareness when he is trying to be condescending. That is his way of saying I have none. Ugggghhhhhh. That always starts a fight!

ToT - oh yeah - if I can do it, you can do it. I am a chicken. Make sure you go in a group - safety in numbers and all that!

Hey, Wigd, remind me NEVER to move to the Eastern Shore! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I guess its too late to change "have" to "eat"....huh?????

Harsh!

Hey Shocker: How was Vegas????

1. Yes...I am happy to have read the meltdown!!

:rotfl2:Sometimes a husband deserves it! Well put! :rotfl2: Glad you enjoyed the meltdown.

And you're right....the most important thing is that everyone was safe and all ended well!

No update tonight, I'm afraid. My marching band has to play at the State Fair for the 10 nights. One down and 9 to go. I don't go all ten nights, but I did go tonight so I got home a little late. Thanks to everyone for the nice replies about the "meltdown".

I will definately get an update in tomorrow, although I am having a little trouble with photobucket. I think I may have tried to store pictures under too many different headings and now I can't find all the pics. :confused3
