Kick'n It at Kidani (aka Am I Becoming a Resort Snob?)Final Update 8/20 p.54

Trying to catch up with so many reports...
I am looking forward to seeing Fantasmic again very soon!
I'm glad your stomach waited until you got back to the room. :goodvibes

That's an awesome picture of Madame Leota's head! I've never gotten anything that good before.

LJ seems like a good kid! :thumbsup2

Maybe somebody needs to come up with some special lime green DIS shower caps for certain ones of us to use on Spash Mountain. ;)

Thanks for so many good pictures that make it even more exciting as we get closer and closer to our turn.

Awesome updates! I haven't posted in about 20 pages :goodvibes but your report is so good!!

I hear ya on the water parks; we're going this year with my cousins, and it's always nerve-wracking keeping your eyes on all the kids!!

I have never done the Haunted Mansion...I know....I need to add it to my list. The ever growing list. :rotfl2:

Your pictures are great - lots of fun to see all the boats!

It's funny you should say that about the stomach, cause when I was standing in line for ToT I remember thinking, "wouldn't it be horrible to get stomach cramps now after all that food I ate"

I had the camera on some nighttime setting so when you press to take the picture it seems like an eternity until it actually takes it. So lucky it turned out!

LJ seems like a good kid! :thumbsup2
He really is a sweet heart!

:rotfl2:I think Wigd or shocker need to do that. I bet shocker could find one in 5 seconds flat!:rotfl2:

Your trip is so close now. I hope you have a great time. And thanks for the idea about photographing the boats. That was fun!
:thumbsup2

Thanks DWGal. this report has been a lot of fun to write!

I hear ya on the water parks; we're going this year with my cousins, and it's always nerve-wracking keeping your eyes on all the kids!!I'm so glad so many Dis'ers agree with me on this. Now I definately don't feel as quilty for not taking him

I have never done the Haunted Mansion...I know....I need to add it to my list. The ever growing list. :rotfl2: HM is a must. I just wish it would move a bit slower so my old brain could take it all in.

Your pictures are great - lots of fun to see all the boats! Thanks MeMom for that suggestion. It was a good one!
:thumbsup2

I'm calling this part 3.5 of Day 5 because it really was supposed to be part of the last installment, but I got torn away from the computer longer than I wanted to.

Back to Toon Town.......

I asked DH why his garage wasn't this neat?

I've always wanted to check out the Barnstormer, but I think I may be a tad over the age limit. But I took a picture anyway.....

DisneyJune2009792.jpg

I love this picture of the gas station...

DisneyJune2009797.jpg

We passed the speedway...... LJ didn't seem like he was dying to ride this, so we skipped it.

DisneyJune2009794.jpg

If it wasn't 150 degrees out, I may have suggested this little beauty:
DisneyJune2009793.jpg

I didn't notice, but I bet the lines for the outdoor rides were minimal in the afternoon heat!

Then I saw this.... Watch carefully now.....

There was nobody in that stretcher. At first I thought the ride has stopped and there was an accident. But now I think the paramedics were just cutting through the ride to get to a patient. That was crazy because I didn't see any commotion anywhere near the medics. To be honest, I was really start to feel like a lurker by the time they came off the track, so I decided it would be uncool to lurk or take anymore pictures. So that's all I've got folks. You'll have to draw your own conclusions.

Since we were already heading in the direction of Tomorrowland, we continued along that route. My DH wanted to see CoP. He freak'n loves this ride. I like it. I don't love it. But it was air conditioned and we had been outside more than inside since lunch time, so I was ready for some AC. In fact, I was so ready that I was starting to get a little naseous from the heat. When we got inside I didn't even try to take pictures. I felt like crap and really didn't start to feel cooled down until we got to the last CoP scene where he blows up the oven. I knew LJ would like that since he's into computer and that silly computer is what programmed the voice activated oven. When CoP was over I DID NOT want to go back outside. I wanted to take LJ on Buzz, but the line looked solid.

So I made a decision. I asked my DH if he would "take one for the team" and stay in the park another 50 minutes until we could get another FP. I wanted an FP for BTM so we could come back in the evening, but I knew I was done with the mid afternoon heat. My DH and my DS agreed to stay in the park and LJ and I left to take the bus home. Me thinks I must have left the camera with my DH because here is a pic of DH and DS riding Buzz. Don't worry - LJ did get to ride Buzz later that evening.

Oh, I have to post one more pic ...it's the TTA. Tomorrowland seems so lonely without the TTA up and running. That is a family fav. DS16 especially loves its. He said, "Mom, do you have any idea how many times I've riden that ride just to sit back and chill? The park is not the same without it!" :sad1:

Yeay for another update!!! I really liked the food at CHH as well! What a strange experience with the paramedics! I wonder what happened there! :confused3

You could still ride Barnstormer -- the kids are still dragging me on it! :scared:

Great update! I think I am fully caught up. I didn't post on your earlier update! The teens at the pool with the DVC movie RACKS me up! I could see DSS16 completely having the exact same kind of day!

So sorry about the stomach ick. Glad it happened back at the room, but ugh! There is nothing worse.

Nice though, to read a good review of H&V, I'll remember that as I'd take it too, if I could get fantasmic!

You are right, I get the short end of the deal on water rides. Of course, if you look at our park pictures what do you see? Me and 3 kids.

Otherwise known as "big boy bonding time".

I don't mind. most of the time.

I think LJ thought the Indy Speedway probably seemed lame after doing ToT and RRC!

9 is tough on the DDP depending on the kid. DS10 and DSD12 traded once (her adult meal for his kids) and we'd let him use our adult beverage credit to get a smoothie and then share dessert. On our next trip DS8 will probably be about 3 weeks shy of being 10. I may just list him as 10 if I can. We will see what his appetite is like but the younger 2 are very adventurous eaters and struggle with the kids menus.

And I can only do so many buffets! They kind of creep me out.
:)

I know what you mean with the ibs. I seriously think I have it. It can be so rough at times. But we all know where it would go if and when I go to the dr and talk to her about it.

Ok I must be half asleep what is tta?
Great update, speaking of updates I need to work on my own. I am so bad. I will get one done tom night or well tonight. :rotfl:

Yeah - I don't know what was up with that? How strange to bring the stretcher and equipment right through the ride?

CHH was nice. I love the building more than the food, but it was so nice having the window seat.

I guess I should have ridden Barnstormer, but I could really tell how long the line was. One of these days I am going to check it out!

I think LJ thought the Indy Speedway probably seemed lame after doing ToT and RRC! Probably reminded him too much of Dutch Wonderland. He's a certified thrill ride junkie now!

We will see what his appetite is like but the younger 2 are very adventurous eaters and struggle with the kids menus. I definately think the adult dining plan is better for an almost 10 year old. Then they can try new things and eat as much as they want!

And I can only do so many buffets! They kind of creep me out. They never used to, and then I started reading people's opinions of them. And then I started seeing kids touching the food, so now I only like to do one a trip, at most!
:)

Jen - been there, done that with the IBS workup. The colo is not as bad as I thought it would be.

TTA is the blue line.....the Tomorrow Land Transit Authority. We all love this ride. Seriously, we usually ride this more than anything else. We did get stuck on it once and that was NOT fun!

Ick. I hate reading about hot afternoons. The heat really can do a number on you at Disney.

Bravo for your DH taking one for the team and getting those FPs, it helps when you have someone to do things like that in Disney when you are overwhelmed.

I agree that Tomorrowland just isn't the same without the TTA. It felt like a ghost town. I can't wait to ride again in September!

What is it with boys and the shootin' arcade? :rotfl:
I hope you went back to the hotel/ pool after Buzz!!!

We tried CHH for the first time on our last visit (thanks to the good folks on the Dis that recommended it!) - best CS in the MK for us! :thumbsup2 I did not notice there was an upstairs though - nice view from up there, will have to check it out next time!

OH LL.....It got sooooo hot every afternoon. I started thinking there was something wrong with me cause I felt so heat intolerant. It was really between 1pm and 4pm that the heat felt so bad. The rest of the day was
tolerable.

:thumbsup2for my DH. I was afraid he would say "No", but he coaxed my DS into staying with him.

Will TTA be open In September??????? I would love it if it is! :yay:

Boys and guns. It's one of those undeniable combinations!

LJ and I got off the bus at AK, changed into our bathing suits, and spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool! Ahhhhhhhh!

I do like it there, but my DH really likes Pecos Bill! We'll see what CS wins out next trip. Oh wait - we are going on the DxDP, so we are eating all TS. I almost forgot!

I recommend the upstairs. Very quiet and cozy!

Yes, I have fallen way behind but I just had to comment on this picture right away. It wouldn't be hard to guess who the father/son combo is here :lmao:

:woohoo:Hi Katie :woohoo: Missed you! I have no idea which picture you are refering to cause I can't see any pics at work. But both of my boys look like their dad more than they look like me. I'll have to go check out the pic when I get home.

I really enjoyed CHH during KTTK as well! We'll definitely eat there again and definitely try to get a seat upstairs! It seems so quite and removed up there! Very cool boat pictures!

That was a weird experience seeing the paramedics! I would have felt toeh same way you did and walked away too!

I'm so sorry it was so terribly hot! I couldn't have handled it! Your a brave women!

Your too funny about barnstormer! I believe I've ridden that about 4 times now! on our March 08 trip it took the kids the whole trip to work up the courage to ride it! LOL! They rode in the seat in front of me and I sat alone. Now it's one of DS6's favs and he's graduated to riding BTMMR as well! He wants to ride all sorts of rollercoasters next trip!

It's so true... TTA is a great, relaxing little ride. It's an especially nice choice for any one of your party that is not riding Space Mountain! :thumbsup2

Kathy

As soon as my crocs hit the parking lot asphalt I thought they were going to melt - that's how hot it was. I felt the rubber melting on my feet! :scared1:

I have to just comment here because I have actually melted shoes on vacation! I was in Hawaii and we went out to where the active lava flows were going on. I didn't realize how fresh the land was that we were walking on until it started to get dark. If you looked down into the cracks, you could tell that it was still glowing just a few inches below our feet. It was awesome but also made me much more nervous! Some of us were walking in the dark and our leader took a step and had to back up quickly when he felt the "ground" sag beneath his feet

Everytime the camera would roll, these "pretty" people would go into action, happily chatting with the "pretty" person to their right of left.

This must have been quite a thing to see :rotfl:

I thought that might be the pick. Father - son sighting confirmed!

Very weird! I kept thinking - some poor soul must have had heat stroke.....and that thought made me that much hotter!
I'm so sorry it was so terribly hot! I couldn't have handled it! Your a brave women! Stick around - I finally gave up on the heat my last day. I went somewhere I don't even like just to get out of it!

Your too funny about barnstormer! I believe I've ridden that about 4 times now! on our March 08 trip it took the kids the whole trip to work up the courage to ride it! LOL! This is a perfect example of why I wish I had taken my kids before they were 7 1/2 and 9. I always just assumed they were too old for this ride. I need an excuse. I need to borrow someone's 4 year old so I can ride it! Notice I never do Peter pan, winnie the poo, and snow white. Actually I think I've done pp twice, poo twice, and snow white once. The biggest reason I don't do these rides is the lines are so long. But give me a 4 year old and I would be there!

I love that your DS has his arm out to protect his little cousin! :lovestruc

Kathy

Kathy - I know you can't tell in this picture, but he is actually stiking a pose. He's pointing at the camera and scratching his chin! :rotfl2: Wait until you see the pic of all 4 boys riding!

It's so true... TTA is a great, relaxing little ride. It's an especially nice choice for any one of your party that is not riding Space Mountain! :thumbsup2

Kathy

Agreed. And its pretty cool to be riding it when Space Mtn is down and all the lights are up. All you see is lots of steel track!

Ouch. No......Double Ouch!

This must have been quite a thing to see :rotfl:

The "pretty" people were amusing. I know the teenage boys were doing a little :cool1: and some of this :woohoo: and probably a bit of this:yay: and definately a little of this  when they were looking at the pretty girls!

I would love to do an update tonight, but my DS is going to ODP soccer camp tomorrow and I spent most of the evening helping him pack and running errands to get what he still needs.

LJ's mom called me tonight to ask if DS14 and I wanted to join them at Dutch Wonderland for the day. I said - "Your son is a thrill ride junkie and it's time to step it up a little". So I suggested a local theme park (Dorney Park) that has a kid's section and real roller coasters. Hopefully they will agree to this! I know LJ will love to ride some coasters with my DS.

Then she told me that LJ's brother told her, "I need some time away by myself. I want to go to Aunt Mary Ellen's house". So we are also arranging a private sleepover!
