We used to have it, once in a blue moon, when we lived in the Northeast. Since we moved to North Carolina, we've been spoiled for choice for fried chicken places. We typically do Smithfield's, which is very close to our house--maybe every couple of months or so (it's one of our favorite after-beach choices).

It was funny, my DD20 was BEGGING to go to KFC--she missed it from her younger years. So, a few months ago, I went out of my way to get KFC. After eating it, she said, "Smithfield's is better!" So, no more KFC runs in our house.

We also have Zaxby's, Popeye's, Hardees (only some serve bone-in chicken), Church's, and basically any grocery store and Walmart--all make decent fried chicken.

No KFC close to me now, but when I have had it in the not so distant past, I think the quality has gone downhill. We do have a Popeye's closeby which is okay.

Surprisingly the friend chicken is excellent at Acme (one of our grocery stores) and they have a pretty good deal on it on Monday nights.

KFC is simply not very good anymore. They seem to be able to find the tiniest birds for their chicken. When we lived in Ohio there was a regional chain called Lee's Famous Recipe. THeir chicken was great. I like the chicken sold at our local Winn-Dixie deli and they have great wings too. We went to the brand new KFC shortly after it opened on Apopka Vineland Road and it was pretty good. Though we went back again on another trip and it wasn't. They just seem so inconsistent and as another poster posted, they always seem to be out of chicken and can't cook it fast enough.

I guess all of us that live in the 43 states Royal Farms has not restaurants will never know.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Yeah its funny they claim to be world famous, but are only in a handful of states. Nevertheless, still darn good.

I love KFC. Growing up, in my family that was the "go-to" in times of stress or celebration; grab a bucket of KFC. We only have one KFC up here and i go there maybe once a year because, let's face it, quality has slipped and the stuff just isn't very healthy (but it doesn't mean I don't love it!).

Sort of like the World Famous Gold and Silver Pawn Shop featured on Pawn Stars. Been it's name since it opened long before the TV show.

It's OK... I literally have not been in years. I LOVE their mashed potatoes/gravy, and I really liked those "Chicken Little" sandwiches. (I have no idea if those are still on the menu).

I don’t know how KFC stays in business in my area. There never seems to be more than a few cars in their parking lots or drive thru.

Royal Farms is the fried chicken king in my region.

Not a fan :sad2:
I literally have not had KFC in over 10 years.

May have already asked this, but... KFC? Yay or nay?
NAY, used togo every other month or so.In the spring a 16pc bucket was filled to the top and sometime a box was needed for a couple of pieces,Then it shrunk down to filling the bucket.I went last month a a 16pc bucket was maybe 3/4 full and the sides were 1/2 to 3/4 full, tried popeyes SAME! Portion control!!! Same price, ......now a wing is same size as a breast. This KFC is located near a mall. so we travel near it alot. Used to be a line of 10-15 cars at the drive up window at 5pm...now its only 1-2 cars there. It's only a matter of time before they close . It's a shame, most likely they will close by the end of year

I can't remember the last time I've been to one. The ones I was familiar with in my area closed.

Still a yay for me - fried chicken, coleslaw, and a biscuit (though the biscuits aren't quite as good as I remember from when I was a kid). I don't get it often for health reasons, but every once in a while, I really want some!

KFC hands down has the best crispy chicken sandwich of all chickendom. And their crispy tenders are great also.
I rarely eat bone in chicken anymore but used to love KFC back in the day. I do not care for Popeye's or Church's much at all.
