Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has ever done the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour at Disney? If so how did you like it? We are going in May and my husband and "the boys" as I call them want to take the tour. Any info would be great.

Thanks,

Kim

My DH and I did this tour last July and really enjoyed. We are seasoned Disney people and even we learned a few new things. I highly recommend it. Also, if you have an annual pass or a Disney Visa card, you can get a discounted price.

We did the tour in November. It was much longer than we expected - 4 to 5 hours. The experience really depends on your tour guide. We had one who was mostly interested in history and didn't tell us alot about the "magic." He even denied the existence of Hidden Mickeys.

WE loved it would do it again in a couple of years. Wear comfortable shoes lots of walking.

We really enjoyed it when we did it - to be honest I can't remember if we did it last year or the year before, LOL. Our guide was great, and we were one of the first tours to use the new microphone/headset system. I'm not sure if they've stuck with that system, but we didn't feel like we missed anything the guide was saying during the tour. It was fun having the hidden mickeys pointed out to us.

MNSusan, I'm surprised your guide denied the existence of hidden mickeys. After all, they are a part of the history of the parks as well.

DM and I did the tour a few years ago and loved it! Its fun going on the rides knowing some of the history behind the "magic!" ;)

There is a lot of walking so comfortable shoes are a must

Bump.

I want to hear more good things about the Keys tour. I would love to do this one someday.

Thanks for the info. I am sure the "Boys" will enjoy it!!

Now to find something for the "Girls" to do while they are gone!! :rolleyes1

They will enjoy the tour . I went on the tour last summer and thought it was great. On my tour i went on 3 rides. Learned alot to and was fun. :)

Dh and I did this pre-children. We ABSOLUTELY loved it! I LOVED going through a "secret" doorway and going down into the utilidors. It really was VERY interesting!

We did it in Oct tour guide Nick it was outstanding.

Just like to point out that the tour no longer takes you into the utilidor post 9/11. you see some backstage areas but thats about it.

By utilidor, do you mean the underground tunnels? Because we went after 9/11 and we still went into the tunnels.
It's a fantastic tour. So much to see and learn about! I felt like a VIP when we were allowed into backstage entrances. We got a lot of stares! :rotfl2:
It was so strange seeing behind Splash Mountain (and it smelled really bad lol!)
Our guide was so so nice, he was called Geoffrey I think. Well worth the money!

yes that is the tunnel. I talked to gentleman today who said he took the tour and they did not really go into the tunnels.. just passed through it quickly. There is really absolutly nothign down there anyways. and by the way it really reaks under the castle. mostly because of all that nasty moat water up above that is pumped through the pipes lining the walkway.

Oh I see, we spent 45 minutes down there.
I thought the best part was looking for the hidden mickeys on the rides that we were taken on :) (Haunted Mansion and POTC).

speaking of hidden mickeys i saw two in everest.

I took a keys of the kindom tour designed for cast members two days ago. it was the cliff notes version of the one you guys pay big bucks for.

I will tell you this. that building you see to the right when you ride the test track outside is the employee caffeterria. ha!

How can you say there's nothing in the utilidors?? That was the most interesting part of the tour?!?!!

I went last February and had a great time. We loved getting to see the back side of splash mountain, as well as some of the tunnels, mostly just to be able to say we'd been there. :woohoo:

It really does seem to depend on your guide though. Ask lots of questions and you'll have a wonderful time.

I went with my mom about 3 Augusts ago and I had a great time. I learned alot of interesting things and it was just fun overall.
