Keyless entry vs. lockbox

It seems a lot of homeowners use lockboxes for keys. I don't feel safe knowing someone could have made a duplicate of a key. Are you comfortable renting without keyless entry?

Wouldn't any one who has access to a lockbox that would be able to make a duplicate key also have the code for any sort of keyless entry system? I don't imagine they change the code in between every stay.

I would hope they would change the code between renters! Even if it was only changed montly, that would be four people with the code rather than the potential for anyone in the history of the rental to possibly have the key.

The door code is changed between every guest.

Yes they do! Most of the keyless systems now have an automatically-generated code for each renter that expires within an hour of your checkout time.

DH doesn't think keyless entry is a big deal. But to me, the thought that anyone could have a copy of the key and come in at any time is CREEPY.

Yeah, but at least most places have a chain on the door. I wouldn't say no to a good deal just because there was a key, especially with older beach houses where you may not have a choice.
