Im assuming Key West sunset will happen during Nov while we're in our early dining.
Does it seem more people skip their rotation dinner that night so they can enjoy the sunset? especially those assigned to AP? How are the other dining rooms w/the sunset?

We were in AP the night of the Key West sunset and I warned my server when I srrived taht I would be "ducking out" for sunset and asked him how to best handle it. I was assured that he could work around it as that was not really an unusual request. He paced dinner appropriately and I was not alone on deck for sunset - there were several other people from dinner that joined me.

I think they have come to expect it.

I never gave the key west sunset a second thought.......... the sun sets here in MA. too :)

I am not sure if I did this right, but I went to a sunset calculator and it indicated that the sun will set in Key West at approx 5:45 PM the week of Nov 8th. (+/- a few minutes depending on the date) If this is correct, then you will be able to watch it before dinner.

Here is a copy from the website

Depending on my rotation, I'm thinking of trying to get to Palo that night. I think you can have a great view of the sunset from a window up there!

I'll figure that out when I find out my rotation.

Thanks Robin

I had read about Palos on Key West night. In my situation though Im thinking we should do Palos hopefully on Mon formal night when DH is in a tux!

Ann--

I am in the same mindset. The sun sets here in Tampa Bay too. Almost everyday! :)

And, from what I hear, it also sets in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Castaway Cay, and even, yes, believe it or not, at sea!

LOL!

I will say after seeing it in KW from top deck, there is something.......unique about the sunset there. Something with how the light interacts with the ocean. Something with actually seeing the sun go down, where there is visible movement. I don't think it's quite that simple to describe. You have to see it firsthand to really understand it.

And Mark, I get to see it Nov. 9th!!!!!!!!!

I have never been to Key West, and never wanted to do the Western because it was a port and I've been to Cozumel. Now that we are going in 2 months, I am really looking forward to it (and the infamous sunset!) The prettiest one I've seen as been from a cruise ship in Belize, hope this compares. Is it maybe better because you know your cruising on DCL?

Diana, this is Mark's wife Mary - I definately think being on the a wonderful Disney cruise helped make it magical.

We were on the May 10th cruise and sunset was after dinner that evening. We had early seating and had time to enjoy a wonderful dinner and then go up on Deck 10. Got some chairs right near the railing by the Goofy Pool. They had a band set up giving us some nice tropical music. We got to enjoy this for about 1/2 hour and then the sun started setting.

I had heard so many wonderful things about the Key West sunset that I was prepared to be disappointed by getting my hopes up. I was wrong! It was beautiful and the wink and twinkle it made when it finally melted into the water was magical to me.

Could I see as wonderful a sunset elsewhere? Sure, but I really enjoyed it on our cruise.

I think weather matters a lot in the experience and we were blessed with beyond beautiful weather that whole week.

What is the website for the sunset calculator? I would like to know when it sets on our June 19,2004 cruise.

On our cruise last year a big cloud came and covered the wonderful sunset :( I had been to Key West before and have a beautiful photo of the sun setting with a sailboat in the foreground. Now DH and DD think the KW sunset is no big deal since they did not get to experience a good one first hand.

And the best part is - at sunset they blow the ship's horn:cool: .

I didn't know that! Great. I will have to make sure at sunset we are not sitting in Hog's Breath or Sloppy Joe's! I'll have to remember to be on the ship at sunset!

Ah-ha! Nice to make the connection between you two! It's great that you both have a love of Disney and can share the joy of the common interest! (Travis and I are the same way and we immensely enjoy our time together spent on the various Disney sites, at Walt Disney World, and on Disney Cruise Line.)

I am very lucky to have a DH that share's my love of Disney. I can't see myself being with someone who didn't share my passion for Disney. I can't see going by myself. I know others can and do, but it isn't me.

Isn't it great sharing it with someone special?

AnnMorin--

Yes, you've discovered the truth! ThreeCircles is Jason! :) Travis also posts on here though. He goes by DisneyMagicTravis. And you're right on the screen name too!

WDWLVR--

And he's very knowledgeable about refrigerators too! ;)
