key to the world wristband?

If it's so great why is it only in WDW?

Well I'm thinking DL just doesn't have the space for it. It also doesn't have the underground utility tunnels. Even with all the space the MK has, some major revamping was needed to make things fit. Moving Dumbo and tearing down the Skyway station are needed to open things up enough for the new queues to be added in FL.
They might be coming to DL though. Part of the billion was spent building a huge new control center at DL. Maybe they just had to build that first before they could start the interactive queues?
Even if they do, DL just won't have as many as the MK and they might be shorter and simpler. I can’t imagine where they would be able to fit anything in FL, maybe just IASW or Matterhorn? Thunder Mountain has space to spare too. Everywhere else is pretty tight in my mind…

I just took an on-line survey sent to me by DCL. One of the major themes was the wristbands. They showed them in a video and they seem like those rubber bracelets people wear for a cause and would come in your choice of color. The bracelets would be delivered to your home before you set sail.

These bracelets would allow you to:
Track family members on the ship
View you your customized itinerary at certain kiosks on the ship
Tie all your photos together into one digital file
Capture video of you doing activities like the aquaduck
Purchase drinks or merchandise
Allow access to your stateroom and on/off ship

The bracelets may be personalized with your name or favorite character for a fee. The Key to the World Cards they are using on the ships now have rfid chips so this would just be a change from wearing your KTTW on your neck to on your wrist.

They also mentioned the possible future ability to use your smart-phone with free onboard wifi. I doubt this one will ever happen.

Yeah just so negative it's sad.

They must be really miserable in their own life they have to feel the need to share it with the world lol.

Moderators. These last couple of comments sure seem like personal attacks and not discussion oriented at all.

I am against the wristbands for a crazy reason-I don't want the wristbands to show up in all of my photopass photo's. I think a wristband could really cheapen the picture. If these come out before I go again in 2012, I would definitely invest in a nice wristband that wouldn't easily clash with other colors.

If it would be possible to have the wrist band but not wear it, I would stuff it in my purse!!

LOL... they would clash with that huge stroller crossing behind you just as the camera snaps being pushed by someone in a bright orange shirt. :lmao:

See comments like this scare me people thinking this is magic is why Disney Parks have become what they are.

I'm confused??? Care to expand on this comment? From your previous posts, you dont seem like a person who is against technology in the parks... I guess, for me, anything that makes my kids' eyes light up is magical so I guess I dont know where you're coming from.

Honestly, not pot stiring, I really am interested in your pov on this one.

Plastic or rubber wristband during a hot Florida summer.....ICKO!

I wear as little as possible on my arms when it's hot.

I am not against tech in the parks or even these wristbands. I'm sure these will add a level of magic to the parks. However I'm just waiting for Disney to knock my off my feet. To blow me away or at least build an e-ticket.

They have spent too much $$$ and time lately on little things like this and the last big thing they tried in WDW EE is a hot mess. I miss the WDW I grew up with that produced quality attractions like The Great Movie Ride, Alien Encounter, JII, POTC, BTM, Splash Mountain. If an effect was broken or an attraction was in disarray it didn't take a fire to fix it.

These are the reasons I'm done with WDW till FLE is complete. To get my Disney fix I will go to a resort that still trys Disneyland.

For those that think I hate Disney you are wrong. You want to know a few great projects that amaze me and appear to be the Disney of old.

1. Carsland: the scale of this is mind boggling and will give WWOHP a run for its money.
2: Mystic Point and Grizzly Trail in HKDL: Two new lands that are original stories not just Nemo slapped on an omnimover.

I love Disney it seems that WDW doesn't matter lately. You might say that they just announced a 500 million Dollar Avatarland. What they don't tell you is Disney got the sloppy seconds. They went to Universal with Avatar first and Universal turned them down.

In conclusion these wristbands will be great they are just nothing special.

This, like many of your other points, is overly simplistic. Disney did not get "sloppy seconds." They made an aggressive offer that Universal wasn't interested in matching or beating.

Well seeing that they never ever went to Disney until after UNI turned them down I'd say you are wrong.

Prove it. More importantly, prove it without copying some half-baked rumor you read on another message board.

Getting the thread back on track, and regardless of whether anyone has issues with the wrist bands, does anyone know if they'll be adding the wristbands anytime soon? Thanks! :)

I can play your game prove me wrong.

Are you an adult or a child? Seriously? You're the one who made this statement:

Now back it up. You can't just make any wild claim you want and say "prove me wrong."

Good idea. ;)

Ao one knows... but -- assuming all this is true -- odds are you'll hear about tests and people getting selected to try them out over time.. Then they might vanish for a while as they work on the feedback/bugs uncovered by those trials. Then it might be more tests or right to prime time -- and no one really knows how long that'll take, again assuming all this is true.

I have nothing I can post just the word of someone I trust. Don't believe me I don't care.

WELL PLAYED :thumbsup2

I really am wondering if they will start bring this concept in to use with the start of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom....not using them for everything just yet but perhaps just the game to see how that works, then photopass ect ect

who knows, just an idea

would love to hear more about these

So what you're saying is that WDW is being passed over for cool attractions at other parks... Like DL and Hong Kong. If people get all excited o ve we ristbands, Disney execs dont feel motivated to do anything truely exceptional.

I get'cha. I may not *fully* agree but I understand where you're coming from. I dont think you're a grump ;) You've just got high standards. . Am I right? :)

I am so excited for an enhanced photopass experience like the article talked about. Did you read the part about ride VIDEO?! How cool is that! I really hope PP is integratedinto more rides, like it is with Test Track. Hope we hear some sort of confirmation soon!
