So DBF is asking me to make sure he gets a slice of good key lime pie while on vacation. While I like it, it's not something I've ever chased down. Does anybody know where all my options are at WDW for key lime pie?

I assume that the counter service at OKW, but that will be seriously out of the way for us. Anywhere else? We are spending time at all four theme parks, as well as DTD. Thanks! :goodvibes

I have never seen it at the counter service at OKW, but the TS restaurant there has the best Key Lime Pie I have ever tasted. It is even better than the one I had at Blonde Giraffe in Key West.

Other options from memory are the Boardwalk Bakery and Sunshine Seasons.

Oooh, Sunshine Seasons would work out great! That's where I planned on having lunch anyway on our Epcot day (12/3, my birthday). Perfect! :thumbsup2

Sorry, but I am a key lime pie officianado , and this was pretty much the only one I've had that I didn't really care for. Much to "fluffy" for my taste. I have had a very, very good slice at the Wolfgang Puck Cafe (TS, don't know about express), and also it is very good at Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom!

Best of luck finding him a good piece of pie!!

Agreed! I love Sunshine Seasons but there is something just....wrong with the key lime pie they serve. It tastes like it came from an aerosol can, or like it was made with carbonated lime soda. :lmao:

I too love KLP but haven't had much luck finding good offerings of it in the world, not that I'm complaining, there are a zillion other delicious desserts I always manage to find! :goodvibes

Fulton's Crab House in DTD is my hands down favorite......and Rainforest Cafe had one when I was down there with my mom, but I think their desserts change nightly????

A second vote for Wolfgang Puck Cafe key lime pie-it is excellent

I love Key Lime Pie and thought the one at Flame Tree Barbecue at AK was really good! Also had a good key lime tart at Starring Rolls in DHS.

DW also likes the key lime pie at Flame Tree BBQ.

TS restaurants are out, unless it's one we're already going to be eating at anyhow. I'm not making another ADR then spending that much time on a peice of pie.

Thanks for the advice, we'll stay away from the key lime pie at Sunshine Seasons now. However, we are also supposed to be having lunch on our AK day at Flametree BBQ (it's my favorite CS there), so I will make sure that DBF gets his pie that day. :goodvibes

I don't remember what restaurant it is from or if the restaurant still exists, but I have a Disney World cookbook from about 15 years ago that has a recipe for key lime pie that is just awesome. I will look up the restaurant when I go home.

I have the same book, Cooking with mickey around our world and I just checked it. The restaurant for the Key lime pie is Outer Rim in the Contemporary resort.
I never tried to make the recipe, because the limes they sell here in Belgium are a lot more sour than the ones I tried in Florida, but I will go and try it when we go in february

Flame Tree BBQ in AK..My son ate his piece, his grandmothers and tried to snatch mine. So I think he would agree that the key lime pie is great!

An excellent choice, I'm sure he will be satisfied! ;) I love happy endings! Please let us know how he liked it when you come back!

There has been more than one occasion when we have gone to Olivia's (the TS at OKW) mid afternoon for just some Key Lime Pie and some coffee. They have always been only too happy to accommodate us.

I have yet to have truly good KLP from anywhere on WDW property. It certainly wouldn't have been the slice of fake crap from Flame Tree BBQ that most certainly was not authentic key lime pie. It was pie, it was colored yellowish-green (mistake #1 - key lime juice is clear, not green or snot colored), and it was limey, but it was NOT Florida key lime pie. It was mass produced imitation. If people enjoy that sort of thing more power to 'em, but I defy any Floridian who has had authentic KLP, especially from a small, mom'n'pops place in the Keys, to say that Flame Tree pie was good.

You don't get NY pizza outside of NYC, you don't get a Philly Cheesesteak outside of Philly, and you don't get real Key Lime Pie outside of the keys, and certianly not mass produced in a Disney commercial kitchen.

I do hope to try it from Olivias or WPE at some point, but none of the park restaurants I've tried come close to the real thing.

My DH does not usually go for key lime pie, but I do. We both really loved the one at Sunshine Seasons. However, it is true that the texture was more fluffy and mousse-like than is usual ... about halfway between regular key lime pie and one of those Yoplait Whips key lime pie flavor. (Mmm, I love those things.) But the flavor was dead on.

There was a key lime crème brulée at Narcoossee's that was absolutely jaw-dropping. Just perfect. Perfectly balanced between the lime and the custard.

Oh, and by the way, I grew up just outside New York City, lived there until I was 27, and the best New York-style pizza I've ever had was in Scottsdale, Arizona.
