Kevin please, your killing me. They're pronounced puh cons not pea cans

I guess I pronounced that type of nut all the different ways listed here, but for me, it's a Southern Chess Pie...mmmmmmmm.....:thumbsup2

I live near Atlanta, Ga and most folks I know pronounce it pea cans.

Even a fellow whose got a pecan tree on his family farm (and he was born and raised in Ga) calls them pea cans.

Either way they are delicous! And that's my 2 cents worth. :rotfl:

After listening to the review, I actually think the most weirdly pronounced word was 'herbs'

In the UK we pronounce the H, where as you guys seem to say 'urbs', which I find really weird!

H is silent in Texas. We have a town called Houston which is pronounced U-ston. We have a town called Humble, which is pronounced Um-ble. And my last name which in not prounced Oll-and (the H is used). But what gets me is the street named Kuykendahl, which is prounced Kirk-en-dahl.:confused3

With the H if it's a person's name, without if in reference to green, leafy products...

If I am not sure if I will prounounce it correctly, I will just point to the picture on the menu of the pie with the nuts in it, and say please bring me a slice.

We say Peh-kahn down here in South Texas.

I used to be able to name every nut that there was. And it used to drive my mother crazy, because she used to say, "Harlan Pepper, if you don't stop naming nuts," and the joke was that we lived in Pine Nut, and I think that's what put it in my mind at that point. So she would hear me in the other room, and she'd just start yelling. I'd say, "Peanut. Hazelnut. Cashew nut. Macadamia nut." That was the one that would send her into going crazy. She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.

If there was ever a post that the tag fairy needed to read on these boards, this is it. LOL.
