Keurig coffee maker?

Help! I have had my platinum Keurig for about a month now and this morning the computer on it is messed up. Has anyone ever had this happen? It took forever for me to get it to make a cup of coffee (I kept going to menu and when I thought I finally had it straightened out--it still wouldn't brew) then when I finally could choose the smallest cup size it poured me out the largest size. What could be wrong? I ran into one of my sons and he told me he had the exact same trouble earlier this morning.

Any ideas?

Yes, it is cheaper and better to have a French press. This is just a fun toy! DH won't give up the press...

We had trouble with ours this week too! I couldn't get any water to come out, then just a trickle and then way too much. I kept unplugging it and turning it off. Finally, I took the water resevoir off and fiddled with the part where the water gets sucked in. I rinsed out the resevoir tank and tried again and it worked. :woohoo:I thought it was broken.

I am going to wait for the one from QVC Todays Special Value Nov 29th!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much ya'll, :surfweb:

Do you know which one is going to be the TSV on QVC? Price? Where do you find info on upcoming TSV's?

Don't do the my k-cup; it seems like a good idea but the brewing style is different so the coffee is inferior. The hot water does not permeate the grounds adequately. However you can get a lid on ebay to use with your used kcups and it brews the same way as a regular k-cup.
:surfweb:

Why would you want to reuse them? Does the next cup taste the same?

I've also been wondering. Since all sizes use the same k-cup, how can the 6 oz taste the same as the 12?

And Anyone actually use the iced coffee feature? I would love to hear info about that.

I'm going to try and hold out until the 29 for the TSV, I wish someone could remember what the price was last year though. I'd hate to wait only to have been able to get the same deal at BJs or Costco now.

Broke down and bought mine from Sam's last night for $129 with the 72 cup pack. Used it this morning and I am hooked!:cool1:

I realize this is all a matter of opinion, but my experience is different from yours. I am a decaf drinker for most of the day and find that "My KCup" makes a great cup of decaf - right now I am loving Starbuck's Decaf Cafe Verona.

A K-cup is the little cup that holds one serving of ground coffee. It has a lid on it, and it is what you use in your Keurig coffee maker. 1 K-cup= 1 cup of coffee.

Just wanted to add my two cents. I've had mine for a couple of years now and LOVE it! My friend had one, then I got one, and have not turned several people on to them! Two of the cheapest places to get K-cups is BJ's (only have 2-3 "flavors") and Amazon.

The "my k-cup" is a little mesh basket that you can put your own coffee grounds into in place of the premade k-cups. I agree that coffee is not as good when made in this mesh cup (and neither is my gourmet tea) BUT I really, really am pleased when I tear open one or two cheap tea-bags and brew some plain-old tea in it for iced tea or hot tea. I have found that any tea that is already in a tea bag--if you tear it open and pour the contents into the "my k-cup"--it turns out GREAT! My favorite has been Celestial Seasoning's Candy Cane Lane. It is a green tea--so mild--I end up using two tea bags for one really good cup of peppermint-vanilla tea.

On the Platinum (which is what we have), the iced coffee feature is just a size, honestly. It's a smaller serving size.

You just brew the coffee over ice (it comes out hot)...or you can do like I do and brew it into a cup and then put it in the fridge to cool for 15 mins or so. :)

You can make iced coffee on any of the Keurig models. :goodvibes

We've had a Keurig for several years now. I want to tell those of you who might be having a problem 2 things:

If your brewer is within the 1 year warranty...call Keurig! They'll walk you through your problem and if it's not something that can be fixed over the phone they will send you a new machine.

And also, PLEASE read all instructions and be sure to 'descale' your machine every few months as directed by the instruction manual. It really, really does make a difference. Those of you with brewing problems, try that and also try cleaning the needles (by poking the end of a paper clip into them to knock out any residue or grinds stuck in there).

I have wanted one of these for years & finally bought the Platinum Keurig from QVC a few weeks ago. I have used it twice & I am thinking about returning it. I am going to call customer service today--but maybe someone here can answer my questions.

1. It doesn't brew a full cup (maybe half if I'm lucky)
2. When I remove the K-cup the majority of the coffee grounds are still in there???

Please help! I'm REALLY trying to like it but its not working "so far" :)

Thanks!

Jenny

Check your manual for the sizes of cups. My model brews 3 sizes, 5.25,7.25 and 9.25 ozs. I use a Disney refillable mug and brew either the small or middle size one twice. Depends on how strong or weak a coffee I want. So I get two uses out of each K-cup.

As for the grounds, where do you want them to? :confused3 Or do you enjoy a good cup of "bottom of the pot" coffee? They stay in the Kcup to be disposed of.

I agree..read your manual, you probably have yours set on a small cup size.

And you're not removing the top from the k-cup are you? The whole thing stays in one piece. Pop it in, brew, remove the k-cup still in one piece. All the grounds should still be sealed in the k-cup.

Their customer service is great, though. So if you read your manual and are still having problems call them.

Thanks for the quick responses! I will re-glance at the book today & contact CS if needed..

Jenny :)

The box in that Macy's link is only 16 k-cups. At $8.99 a box, that's $.56 per k-cup...sorry to say that's not a deal. Any day of the week you can get k-cups for $.40-.42 each or less.

Oh, I hadn't noticed there were only 16 cups in the box--we usually get 24...
