Does anyone have experience with this? I never knew those little bumps have a name. I have them on my arms, my mom has them on her arms, and DD has them on her arms and legs and a couple on her cheeks. I bought Eucerin Plus, but I noticed her cheeks were getting red from it so I stopped. Then I realized it's because it has AHA and the sun coming in the car windows was probably making her skin red. So I'm going to try it again and use it at night and put a hat on her in the car.

Does anyone have any other tips to help get rid of it or at least minimize it?

It runs in my family, too and the dermatologist told DD to keep her skin hydrated with unscented lotion, don't take long and hot baths and to use a loofa. She doesn't do any of those things because it doesn't seem to bother her much.

I had it all my life, too, and I notice that it tends to improve dramatically when I drink a lot of water.

It doesn't really bother me either, so I don't do anything to help it. I do drink a TON of water though. I don't like them on DD's face though...her legs and arms I'm not really concerned about .

Are you sure the ones on her face are keratosis? Do they look the same?

I'm not positive that's what they are, but I'm pretty sure. They do look the same as far as size goes except the ones on her face are a little reddish. They are just always there and have been for months. I thought maybe baby acne, but she's too old for that and too young for real acne.

Are they more roundish and/or raised? DD had "molluscum" - which is a virus that is harmless but takes a long time to go away.

I looked that up and what she has does not look like that. They are not raised. I had never heard of that though!

Is this the red bumps that look like you have acne but it isn't acne?

My dermatoligist has me cleanse with neutrogena's oil free acne face wash on those spots and then I think I use the same lotion as you.

I also know that prior to that, when I eliminated anything containing caffeine (including chocolate), it greatly reduced the amount on my arms. (didn't always eliminate it, but it did cut it). Dermatologist didn't tell me that, but at one time, I thought a midwife or OB/Gyn told me that. But I don't remember.

On my skin, it only appears in the area of my biceps (or should I say, the area where my biceps should be.:rotfl:).

DD3 (4 on Tuesday!) was diagnosed last year with KP. Hers is primarily on her face, though there is some in other places. It was a little over a year ago, and up til then it was treated as baby acne, as an infection, as simple dry skin, as an allergic reaction, etc. (None of her doctors could figure it out!)

The dermatologist prescribed Differin, which is an acne medicine, from what I understand. When DD's KP is flaring, I put a little (less than pea-sized drop) every couple of days, and it's gotten a LOT better. We talked about just making sure it's moisturized, but she encouraged me to be really careful about which lotion I use on her face, because of how KP works the pores can get clogged, which will make it worse!

The KP in other places we don't really treat. I make sure she's moisturized, but other than that (and a little exfoliation), we don't do anything.

I also have Keratosis pilaris. when I was younger my sister just called it chicken skin because I looked like a plucked chicken with those red bumps.
When I got older and could get to a dermatologist he told me that lactic acid lotions are the best. He gave me a prescription for some but it is now over the counter.
You can sometimes find it in Walmart but would be better to look in CVS or Walgreens. Look for any lotion with lactic acid but the one I found to work best is Lac-hydrin.
Lactic Acid is found in milk so taking milk baths also helps but you would need alot of milk and the lotion is alot cheaper.
I am sure it is not recommended to put in the mouth so ask the Dr before putting it on the face.

I used to have these pretty bad on my "bicep" area too ;) About a year ago I gave up soda and all caffeine and I just checked and I don't have them anymore. I never noticed it, coincidence :confused3 I don't know, but interesting observation by the OB/GYN.
