I have watched live off and on for years. Not a Kathie Lee fan, was happy when Kelly was one. Got tired of Regis. Then was really excited when Michael was chosen (detest it when Mark her hubby is a co-host). I always thought they had good chemistry and got along, watch a couple times a month. Hubby and sons enjoy seeing at Christmas, etc (we usually watch first bit and the prize spin). So I was surprised last week when I saw thread on here that he was leaving. Great for him, would watch GMA but Lara Spencer is not a favorite so I'll stick with TODAY.

So read all the TMZ and everything about how they don't get along, Kelly boycotting, etc. Set DVR to record this morning and was shocked at her behavior. First she looks so skinny, and the way she just stood and let everyone clap, etc. Her attitude about showing respect, etc was just a turn off. I listened to her, but then turned it off. I can understand the upset position, BUT if someone in Michael's position is told not to tell it could cause serious consequences for him. Yes, they should have told her in private, but her whole attitude about this has turned me off to watching her anymore and I used to love watching her on AMC. It appears she and Mark, and even their kids are too big for their britches! :)

Sorry my opinion...any others??

She did OK. She had to address the elephant in the room and approaching it head-on was the best approach. Now it's no longer looming as a big distraction and they can get back to doing their show. That said, Strahan is leaving 13 May, so it's not all sunshine and roses. ABC really made a mess of this one.

I blame the ABC exec's. on this. They told Michael not to tell her, they handled it all wrong. She has been an ABC employee for 26 years, a long time.
She made her point this morning and now Michael is leaving in 2 weeks. I really liked him and wish him well.
I hope she is less overbearing with her new co-host this go around.
The Live show in under contract with many TV stations until 2020, after that, I think it will be the end of the show.

I think Kelly is just jealous/upset that ABC is much more vested in the "newbie" then they are with her after nearly 30 years with ABC.

I wouldn't call what she has a bad gig in anyway.

Oh not at all! 15 million a year? That's a "comfortable" salary :)

I can understand that point of view, but show biz, ya know?

I didn't watch it when it was on TV this morning, but saw it on Youtube. I honestly cannot stand Kelly Ripa. Tried watching the show a few times when they had a Disneyland special, but promptly turned it off. There's something about her that drives me nuts! lol

With that being said, I thought her "return speech" was a little off-putting, as well. She seemed to be taking jabs by saying "this has opened the conversation for workplace communication, ...., and RESPECT!" The whole situation seems a little overblown and ridiculous, anyway. I'm actually confused by it. She's upset with Michael and the producers because Michael decided to make a move to another morning show? Why should he feel bad for moving shows?

my cousin books for one of the most exclusive, posh, high end catering companies in NYC that only does ultra-high end and celebrity events. I know several of the waiters who have had to serve Queen Kelly

and yes, this pretty much describes how she really is in real life. That's why I am not shocked at how she is behaving.

Or that Michael has had to leave sooner than originally planned. :duck:  Or WHY he didn't tell her in private in the first place, forget what ABC told him what to do. Stiletto heels thrown across a room :furious: can do quite some damage if they hit their mark. :duck:

Meh, you lost me at commenting on her weight.

I think this is way overblown.

He took a better gig, like many of us do. He was told not to tell so he obliged. She had a hissy fit and says she's entitled to call in sick because she's earned it. :rolleyes2

It's a talk show. You make (as I just read) 15 million a year. Get a grip. There are real problems in this world. This ain't one.

I thought she handled it perfectly. I don't like Michael so I'm not sad at all. She is way too skinny though. I miss Regis!

I like Kelly, have since she was Haley on All My Children. I like Michael okay, but I'm interested in seeing who they come up with to replace him. That said, what she said this morning was OK. She def had the right to "stick it" to ABC. I thought Michael was staying through the summer?

I thought her speech was very forced, not sure she actually meant any of it other than the respect in the work place. I kind of got the impression that she feels bitter that Michael is the golden boy right now. She did not exude happiness, forced in fact. Not sure if viewers will keep watching, I really don't, but wanted to see today. Turned it off after her intro.

Ah, the politics of morning t.v. Matt Lauer was upset when Katie Couric was hired to do the CBS Evening News, but at least he didn't walk off his job like Kelly. Best of luck to Michael -- I do hope he spends some of his $$$$$$$ to get his teeth fixed.

Not a Kelly fan, at all.
Kind of detest her.
See RIGHT thru her.

Michael owes her nothing... NOTHING.
He has every right to explore other avenues, within contractual agreements...
Especially if he is not happy being treated the way he has been treated.. Which is just SO obvious, even on the air.
Sometimes, Kelly, it just isn't 'all about you'.

Seeing her this morning, again, making it ALL about her, totally and completely... for the first 30 minutes of the show.
:crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :sad2:

Michael maintained a class act.
I wish him well !

SHE is the one who did not show up for work last week, leaving Michael, while supposedly it was Michael leaving her without any comment or notice.
Yep, that's nice.

PS: YES, I will most definitely comment on her weight, knowing what I know about her serious issues regarding weight and body-image. NOTE: She is the one who brought it up, this morning, that she could still wear her wedding dress. (complete with photos) Again... Kelly, talking and bragging on Kelly.. Wow... what a huge, huge, surprize.

Are you referring to the gap?
Michael has long had the option and $$$ and time to change that. Not just since he joined "THE KELLY RIPA SHOW".
It is well known that he once went as far as to see a specialist, have molds taken, and a temporary partial that would close/cover the gap. This would also look like the final result, even if he went thru orthodontics and more permanent measures.

He decided it wasn't him... and he didn't like it at all.
He hasn't considered doing anything about the gap ever since.
