Kelly's first day back today...who watched.

Ohhh geez, enough already.

ANYWAY....I love the Jerry O'Connell comment! I would definitely love to see him give this a long term try. I can never tell from just one or two guest spots if they will have good chemistry, because the guests have a lot to add to the dynamic as well as whatever news is on topic.

Yes, I think she cares that he's leaving - in the sense that he wasn't poached from another network. Her own network took a look at her show, didn't think their partnership was so spectacular that they wouldn't dream of breaking that partnership up or changing a thing, but and decided to dismantle it, to take Michael and put him on a different show they own, where they thought he'd shine and do good things for that show instead.

What does that say about Michael and what he thinks of Live? He willingly is leaving a show where he is one of two stars, getting equal airtime, to go be on a show where he will be one of six stars now, and not one of the two head stars.

As for Kelly, her show is uncertain now. The show's success depends on if they can find a good partner for Kelly. It took them months the last time. Kelly can't carry the show on her own. All the great men who did really well and that most people thought she paired up well with, all have successful careers of their own already. They don't NEED Live. And perhaps that's why they did so well with Kelly. They are confident, strong personalities and already a success in their genres. Anderson Cooper has his own show on CNN and is also on 60 Minutes now. Neil Patrick Harris got a Tony Award last year for being on Broadway. Josh Groben is a fantastic singer.

That early morning venue is hard to fill. While the rest of us minions are used to getting up and going to work 5 days a week at 9am, TV stars find that unappealing, a grind. :snooty: So they have to find someone, not very successful already or so well known he out-shines Kelly. And it has to be someone who has has chemistry on TV with her and is willing to let her be the top dog. And it probably is going to have to be someone who can stand her off-stage too, and is willing to stay a lot longer than Michael did. :duck:

If they can't find someone compatible, her show's ratings will go down. It may also go down while they are trying to find someone. That might get the show canceled. That all affects her. Instead of being able to go on summer hiatus and relax, she may be worried about the future of the show. So, yeah, she cares.

Maybe a WOMAN? :tiptoe:

I 99.9% doubt they would ever bring in a woman. 2 women together would not go well at all. They like doing the opposing gender viewpoints and are hoping for someone that can bring in the women viewers and men as well. I think they will go for someone younger to inject some life into the show and also someone that can bring their own fan base.

Having two WOMEN would make the show like a mini "The View." Nobody likes to see women bickering at each other.

Don't watch it but Kathie Lee and Hoda are 2 women on the Today show.

At any rate, Kelly is from the town near me. Her father is in local politics. Kelly is a spokesperson for one of our hospitals and has a Women's Center named after her.

Maybe a WOMAN? :tiptoe:

:scratchin I doubt they'd go with two women, especially as there is already Kathie Lee and Hoda directly across that time slot on NBC. If they do bring on a woman for Live, it would have to be someone Kelly gets along very, very well with and wouldn't be thought to be competition to Kelly. The only one that comes to my mind is Eva La Rue. Eva played Kelly's sister in law on All My Children. They actually do love each other in real life. And Eva played Mark's sister on the show, so when he guest hosts, they would get along really well too.

Eva's in L.A. now though doing prime time TV. She re-married a couple years ago and has a couple kids, I think. So, I don't know if she'd want to uproot all of them to come back to the east coast.

Who do you think would be a good replacement?
Off the top of my head...Mario Lopez.

I don't know who would be a good cohost, but I always enjoy Jerry O'Connell. He was hilarious as a guest on watch what happens live with Andy Cohen. He loves the "housewives" shows and I think he is really funny.

Don't care whether Kelly is fat or skinny. Her problem, not mine.

Her overall "on air personality" doesn't appeal to me. I don't know what she's like IRL, so can't comment on that.

I think she has a right to be upset but should have handled it better. I feel her behavior was unprofessional. I have all been upset by things that have happened at work. Things that directly affected me. I didn't respond by calling out sick for a week. You had the ability to formulate an adult professional statement and make it on live TV. Instead you chose to act like a 10 year old. It's not a sweatshop. You're a morning TV personality making $15 million/year. You're not working 12/day in a sweat shop. Perspective is important.

I doubt Anderson Cooper would do it full time. I think he wants his career to be that of a "serious journalist", not a morning talk show host. The occasional guest gig so people can see a different side of him is one thing...2nd banana to Kelly Ripa is another thing.

Same with Neil Patrick Harris. He has more "chops" in the entertainment industry than Kelly. A guest host gig is one thing. A steady job as her second banana is another.

I think you'd need it to be someone like who Michael Strahan was when he started. Somewhat "known"but not really well known as a TV personality. Or someone who used to be a more famous who's star has "faded" a bit and could use some buffing. Like Nick Lachey.

Sam Champion!

Jerry O'Connell, every show he does is cancelled, I think he is bad luck, poor guy :scared:

I love Neil Patrick Harris, but I agree he doesn't "need" to be on the show. I like Jerry O'Connell, but he is almost too much energy for that show. Sam Champion would be great. But Nick would be awesome.
