Just spent the morning (and afternoon so far) reading your PJ (I'm guessing that stands for Planning Journal??) and jumped over and read your mini-trip report. I love all the changes back and forth the wedding has taken. Had you been married on an earlier choice it would have been on my 22nd wedding anniversary. We were married Sept 23 - we honeymooned at WDW - back in our off-site days.
We bought DVC a in '97. You mentioned taking your step-son to OKW. Well, I don't have a lot of perspective - OKW was the only DVC resort we stayed at for about 10 years - so starting when my boys were 4-8 until they were 14-18 that is the only resort they knew - and they enjoyed the pools there just fine (and that includes before the slide was built at the main pool).
In the last year we finally broadened our horizons and stayed at the Treehouses at Saratoga (loved it - used the "private pool" that no one else ever seemed to be at, but was close enough to go to the more themed pools at the resort if we wanted to). Then this year we stayed at Beach Club. Had the amazing Stormalong Bay pool area - but the boys (now 16-20) only used it once (and only because we guilted them in to it!

).
Without the boys we have stayed at Boardwalk (too cold to use the pool that trip) and Animal Kingdom Kidani (no time to use the pool). At Boardwalk we walked everywhere (I use an
ECV at WDW and like to avoid buses as much as possible). So while at Boardwalk we either walked (or rolled) to Epcot or HS, or we walked thru Epcot and took the monorail to MK. We did not go to AK on this trip. We did take the bus to DTD one evening. At AK -Kidani the buses weren't awful - probably because we were picked up before Jambo, so I was able to load the
scooter without it being a full bus already that is always a plus

.
We were there at the same time as your quick Planning trip. I had to re-check your dates when you were talking about you day trip to the MK. We went there the day before and it was absolutely miserable. We don't stand in a lot of lines (we are there frequently enough that if we skip something one trip we can catch it on another one). That day I think we did the Carousel of Progress, then trudged miserably over to the Haunted Mansion, looking at the long lines and fighting the thick crowds along the way. When we got there it was crazy long too and decided to go on the boat - something we haven't done for years. Well, due to no CM standing "guard" at the loading area, and such large crowds just milling around everywhere. We didn't realize that the scooter had to go to an alternate entrance - when a CM showed up when they were getting ready to load and told us we would have to fight against the flow of the crowd and go try to load at a different entrance.....

.....well, let's just say, that my husband was one of those "hot and cranky" people you mentioned in your report.

That is when I went back and double-checked your dates to see if he was "the" hot and cranky person in your report

I'm glad to say that he wasn't (although he probably made an appearance in someone else's report somewhere

)From there we circled around through Frontierland over to Adventureland where the Pirate line was out into the "street" - then we worked our way out and went back to the resort. I'm sure it didn't help that we didn't get there until about 1:00 (we came after having lunch at Trail's End at Fort Wilderness). We did cool off and come back that evening as we had reservations for the Dessert Party at the Tomorrowland Terrace. I hadn't seen crowds like that since the years when we were hauling toddlers and babies during Easter week.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding - I am trying to convince my boys that they need to marry Disney-fanatics who will let them have a Disney wedding. I already have them planned - I am going to marry my oldest boy off at Hollywood studios with the reception in the Great Movie Ride. And my youngest will be in the America Pavilion. I haven't decided what to do with my middle one - unless they would let him in the American Idol show or the Indy set. I guess I should let them find girlfriends first (and maybe win the lottery) before I start booking anything though
Congratulations - I am really enjoying your report!
