I was excited to here about the new Scoop Family addition and it made me start to wonder. How exciting it has to be to have your father work in the Happiest Place on Earth. Do the families of Cast Members of Disney World still feel the magic every time they walk into the parks, or is it something you get use to?

I am getting ready to settle on my house in Winter Garden, and still just plan to be a visitor to Florida for a couple years until I can retire, and I wonder if the Magic will always be there for me, or will I get "use" to being there.

I would love to hear from Cast Members or Florida residents -

Darlene

Well Darlene,
Fred and I live in Ormond Beach, the Daytona Beach area. It takes us approx. 1 and a half hours to get to WDW from our house.

All I know is when we arrive on property, even if it's going to Contemporary on Fri. night, it's like entering another world. We get the chance to escape from reality and be in our own little world. It never gets old, and there's always a special dose of magic just waiting for us around the corner. And every now and then some pixie dust is sprinkled on us!

It is something I always look forward to, and never get bored with. You're gonna LOVE it!!!!!!!!

Blessings,
Winnie

Darlene,
I would have to say that as first being a Fl. resident and also the daughter of a cast member I still get very excited to go. I get excited as soon as I see the reservations envelope in the mail. I also get excited when my mother and I get to go for the day or to a cast member event. So I would say that yes it is great to be a Fl. resident but it is also fun to have a CM in the family too.

My parents are only seasonal CMs, but I guess that still counts. The Magic is still there for me. I have met so many MK CMs that it is nice walking around the park and seeing everyone. When my sister went in 2001 it freaked her out that her loner sis seemed to know so many people. Then I always seem to have the luck of going down when SuzanneB or Tennis Nut are there.
I am sure my parents still feel the Magic or they wouldn't keep going back down to work. They are on property almost every day they are down there. My mom can kill a day just sitting on the Expo Hall rocker or riding the Monorail. They often eat at the resort food courts and snack bars. Mom has the Roaring Fork daily specials memorized when most who stay there don't even know they exist.
I don't think the Magic will go away. It will take on a different form. How fun will it be to say "What do you think about catching Spectro tonight?"

Darlene,
I wish I could answer that question for you. Maybe someday, but by then you will know the answer yourself.
But I can't imagine how the magic could be gone, with the amount both you and I visit the parks we both look forward to every visit still. I don't think even working there would take the magic of seeing the castle for the first time each day or hearing the music from the dancing fountain in Epcot.
Still working on my purchase and I hope to announce something real soon. I hope to become official Florida "trailer trash" soon. Looking into buying at Palm Court, a "maintenance free manufactured home site" (read:cheap homes for the poorer people) Peggie

We live an hour and a half away, go every month except July, and can't imagine getting tired of WDW. I wish we lived around the corner from the resort. I'd go almost every day, just to walk around and have lunch on a regular basis.

It was nice to see this post at the top of the boards. I can not believe how fast our house is being built. It went from dirt and water to a real house in just a matter of weeks. We have a roof and everything. My dreams are coming true.

Watch out Florida, here I come.

And Amber is right, everyone is moving to our side of town, and no matter how many times we go, and this week end it was a lot..you never get tired of going...even being a CM, I think it enhances the magic..it makes you feel a special part of it....

So I'll bet you are counting down..I know I would be..

And Peggie, the Palm Coast homes are very cool, and beautifully done....

See everyone soon...
