Hello all! I decided I would be brave and post all the details here, hoping it will help me to stay focused!

I am Katy, a 37yr old SAHM, mother to 3 boys. I'm 5'6" and weigh 210. I did WW two years ago and lost 45lbs, but have gained 40 back, due to bad eating.
I LOVE to bake, with real butter-I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new stuff. I just need to switch to healthy experiments instead of cheesy experiments.

The boys...my DH and DS10 are joining me on this journey. I don't know what DH weighs, but he's 6'1" and he lost really fast when we did this 2 yrs ago. He's gained most of it back. DS10 has always been a big boy. He's 5'5" already, but weighs 165! I'd be so happy if he could lose even 20 lbs or so.

We started Weight Watchers Online on Wednesday. So far here are my "strengths" for the week- staying close to points-made good choices at a lunch out-only 2 mixed drinks at happy hour-cooking healthy WW meals-counting the points for myself and DS
"weeknesses" -not drinking enough water-still taking bites when making lunches for 3 sons-not excercising-stole a couple candy bars from the pumpkin-

Another challenge-we are an expat family from the USA living in Qatar. I cannot get many of the products that are available in the USA. I did find Splenda yesterday and it cost me nearly $20 for the bag! Fat Free is difficult to find and very very expensive. No frozen meals, etc. I did find WW cookies, and DS loves them! I will go buy all of them! Good news...the produce is awesome.

Sorry this is so long. I just wanted to reveal it all in the beginning! We will weigh in on Wednesdays.
Thanks for your support!

Welcome!!!! I can't wait to get to know yall better on here. The boards are so supportive and encouraging. :)

Thanks for the support Gradtchr, I can tell after 4 days that this is not going to be easy.

I was only going to post here once a week, but I feel I need to do more.

DS10-I'm so proud of him :bounce: He went to a birthday party Thursday night and ate only 2 pieces of pizza, small cake and small ice cream. It would have been at least double that before. I am so proud of him. He did great Friday too. He had a free kids meal, chicken schwarma, at a festival we went to, at 4:45. Normally he would have wanted dinner at 6:30 with the rest of us, but he didn't!! He ate applesauce and a sliver of lemon cake and this was at a neighbors house. I am so proud of him. I am praying and praying that he loses at least 2lbs this first week. I would rig the scale if I could!!!! If he loses nothing after all this hard work its going to be defeating.

Myself...Strengths-Doing a bit better on the water drinking- Staying close to points-resisted dessert at the neighbor's-

weaknesses-snacking on not so healthy choices-no excercise-2 helpings of red beans and rice at neighbors-snuck a look at the scale and hadn't dropped any yet-

Not giving up-just keep swimming-just keep swimming-

Katy! Welcome to journaling!! I'm about where you are too. I started off at 211 pounds and now I'm down to 202. I'm almost to ONEderland! Just keep drinking plenty of water and exercise when you can! I've also been cutting my portions in exact half when I sit down to a meal. I've also been just trying to stay away from the sweet stuff. Now if only we can get rid of all the Halloween candy lying around I'll be in good shape!

Best of luck to you and have a great day!

HI Katy,

Welcome to WISH. This is a great place for support. Great job with your son!!!! I know you all can do it

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Beginning of day 6. Doing ok. Getting a little easier.

Still incredibly proud of DS10. We ate out Sat. night and he did so well. I let him get a dinner salad as an appetizer, much better than the fried moz we usually get...he did the WW trick of dipping his fork in the dressing before each bite. Ate almost NO dressing and loved his salad. Ate his sandwich, but none of his fries, on his own. He had an AH HA moment...he said"Hey, I decided to stop eating when I feel full." AH HA He's been home sick, fever, etc yesterday and today. His eating is totally under control due to that. He's doing so well. Crossing my fingers that he will show a loss on Wed. morning.

Me-strengths...eating well, counting points, less snitching, no pumpkin candy yesterday or so far today, walked the dog once

weaknesses...need to drink the water, more excercise, need to plan out the meals and cook in the afternoon

Thanks for the support guys...its tough...we are all in it together

Didn't do so well yesterday. Bought some beef pastrami(no pork in this country) and I ate the whole package. Then I cooked dinner early to avoid not having time to cook it, and I ate a whole portion, plus some, while I cooked it. Then I didn't eat at dinner. My sons thought that was weird. I need to get some healthy snacks cut up and ready to go in the fridge....

strengths...drinking water today, maybe 32oz so far and its 10a.m, much better....good breakfast and snack so far, small piece of peanut butter toast, dried apricots, water..

DS10- did well yesterday. Wanted chicken strips for lunch...I fixed him two, he would normally eat 4 or 5, and he ate them on a small bun. He ate the Chicken Teriaki with broccoli for dinner and loved it. Ate a whole pear and loved it, took one to school for snack today. He's doing so well. Send pixe dust :wizard: that he will show a loss on that scale in the morning when we weigh!!!!!

Just keep swimming-just keep swimming-just keep swimming

Katy :sunny:

Here's hoping for some serious scale movement for you and your son!!!

Thanks Desiree! I took an unauthorized peek this morning and I'm happy with me, just hoping DS has an equal or bigger loss!

Doing well today. Water helps soooo much. Need to get into that habit. Lunch...leftover chicken Teriayki , 1/2 red pepper, 2 ww cookies, carrots, small taste of dinner while cooking it. Off to Tae Kwon Do, for the boys, so I will be snack free until dinner.

I'm proud of me today!

WoooHoo! So happy after weigh in! Our scale is a bit wiggly, I lost 3-4 lbs and DS10 lost 5-7 lbs!!!! He was quite shocked...as was I! That's a bit fast I realize, I'm certain it will slow down. He has eaten very healthy and more points than WW would recommend for his weight and height IF he were an adult.

I made the WW shepards Pie last night and 4 of the 5 of us loved it...my DS5 is in a picky stage.

Off to keep up the good work!

Strengths yesterday...water water water...almost no snitching...

weaknesses...no exercise..I WILL walk the dog this morning.

Katy

Hi Katy!

Congrats on your loss, and on your son's loss too!!! :Pinkbounc

I want to thank you for posting on my journal. WISH has been great for me in my goal to lose weight. Welcome to the board. You can do this!!!! :flower:

Wow!!! That's fantastic!!! Keep up the good work! You both are doing so well!!

Big Thanks to my cheerleaders!!!

Well, seeing the scale drop has motivated me to keep trying hard and maybe motivated DS10 to not try quite as hard....time will tell.

yesterday lunch...ate at Korean restaurant with friend...delicious, mostly veggies, small amount of rice, beef, more than I should have probably. BUT I stayed so full that I only snacked on veggies before bed..no dinner! It was a late lunch, so it held me over.

today...breakfast toast w/ peanut butter...snack banana ....lunch 1/2 piece of shepard pie, 3pts, fat free cheese and crackers, big serving of asparagus, water. Not hungry now. Dinner will be food court with 5 kids, going to the mall. Not worried, motivated to make good choices.

strengths...doing so much better with water!!! not as hungry between meals... doing well on portion control and having lots of good produce in the house...

weaknesses...still no formal excercise, but have done lots of walking in and out of the school, which really is a hike. The parking lot is a ways from the building, a wall around the building, etc... I did the trek 5 times yesterday and 3 already today, still need to walk the dog!!!

Off to trek to school!

Made it through another day with success. Dinner tonight was at a food court, but I found grilled fish and rice with a cucumber salad...it was YUM and I only ate 1/2 the chicken and about 1/4 of the rice, all the veggies and a couple of bites of bread. I wasn't full when I stopped, but about 15 min. later I was! I saved the rest for DH. I was very tempted to eat all the fish, but decided I didn't need it and I could feed it to DH and not waste it. Did better with water today. Now I'm using 4 pts for 2 mixed drinks to celebrate making it to the weekend! (our weekends here are Fri/Sat.)

Tomorrow is a trip to the beach, sandwiches, fruit and veggies is the plan.

Katy :sunny:

:wave2:

Welcome - you guys are doing great for just starting. What an awesome loss. Any of the times that I've been on WW I have lost between 5 and 10 pounds for the first weigh in so that is fine and can be expected. After that, you are right, it will slow down but you both are doing very well!!!!! Congrats!

Have a good weekend
Keep on
Chris

Hi Katy-

Great job on increasing your water and making good food choices! I think all the walking you have to do definetely counts. :)

Yall are doing great!!!! Keep up the hard work!!!

Thanks everybody for the kind words! It really does help knowing there is someone out there cheering for us :cheer2:

Hmm...the weekend is a bit of a blur food wise.
Friday breakfast made pancakes because DS8, who is as skinny as they come, had been begging. I did ok, 3 small pc, a squirt of butter spray stuff and a small amount of syrup, DS10 did the same. Lunch-sandwich, strawberries, a few pringles, fruit salad, a handful of peanuts, a glass of wine, water and diet coke, at the beach. Our weather is much different than most of yours :) Dinner- tomato soup 2pt. and a salad with 2 chicken strips cut up in it. a pear, and water. I didn't count points, but think it came out ok.

Sat. bowl of raisin bran, but it went downhill from there. Went to a Bazzar with friends....had an Indonesian fried pastry thing with chicken and veggies in it...It tasted fabulous, but I'm sure it was horrible point wise...then to chinese place for lunch...I ate too many of those shrimp cracker things....some rice, some shredded beef, some cashew chicken, some chicken in garlic, some lemon chicken, a boiled dumpling, too much food! Dinner hmmm...broccoli , WW pasta chicken stuff.

All in all ok. Took a big walk on the beach and splashed with the kids in the gulf, and walked around the bazzar for 2 hours, every little bit counts.

So far today... a piece of peanut butter toast...water, diet coke..off to lunch.
Katy :sunny:

Lunch yesterday...salad with shrimp and hamour, probably not too bad point wise...no snack...dinner Chicken ceasar salad from McDonalds, only used a bit of the dressing.

Today...breakfast, pb toast, 1/4 chocolate bar:-(, lunch 2 small flour tortillas with lowfat cheese, and tomatoes and carrot sticks - snack..ww cookies...now to plan dinner.

Not drinking water, will do it NOW.

Goal...down 12(total)by Dec. 25, for me and DS10. Wed. I will see how close we are. If I lose 12 I will be under 200 for Christmas:-)

Starting to think about baking, my favorite holiday passtime. Will have to plan carefully and give it all away!

Katy :sunny:

weigh in today... a bit depressing....still at 206, a hold. DS10 is at 158, a hold or down 1lb from last week. Depressing because we did pretty well point wise. AND this week is thanksgiving so I wasn't too hopeful about losing this week, hoping to maintain. I will walk the dog today, at the very least and put away the pumpkin bread.

weaknesses...not drinking water, baked pumpkin bread and eating it, no exercise

strengths...cooking WW recipes and everyone likes them,

Katy :sunny:
