The death and destruction of a hurricane is part of God's plan. Those people were meant to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. While others in the path of the hurricane will survive, because it is part of God's plan. Who made the hurricane so large in the first place?

LOL! I assume God called you personally since you have this down. (don't you just love this type of response. In this case I guess you should just stay at home at wait...)

Also, folks the site Lisa loves Pooh posted is very good for info. The mayor is currently on giving some good info. One fact they have mentioned several times is that this will affect gas prices.... the drilling rigs in the gulf are shut down.

I just heard on the news too that people going to the superdome in New Orleans can not take their animals, so it makes me wonder what they will do with them?

They don't do anything. The animals stay home and fend for themselves :(.

You already said this on one thread
why share your negativity everywhere??

IF you feel so strongly STOP opening threads about the hurricane

I feel so scared for all in it's path

i am praying for them all

Oh yes, we are watching very "fascinated". We wait to hear the fate of the homes of the the friends and family that have evacuated to our home.
Presumably, some reporter will be out on what remains of the levee and we will be able to view the exact neighborhood my friends live in.

Please say a few prayers for us down here. Thanks.

I can't help but watch. I feel so bad for all the people in the Gulf Coast. Katrina is going to have such a horrific effect on that area.

This "Troll" just shows up to sound "holy" LOL! Notice the low thread count... they just wait until crisis and then stir up trouble. They don't really care about anyone just want to be a problem... Figure that you get what you reap and they will get payback someday.

No I won't be fascinated. 3 hurricanes went through our county last year. I know what the hurricanes can do. The damage still hasn't been repaired. I feel terrible for those people in the way of the hurricane and just hope and pray that they have the sense to do what they need to do for themselves and pets so they are safe.

Duh...Satan.

HSUS and EARS are already activated and in the area--they've already evacuated a couple Llama farms. I'm in touch with an EARS coordinator, we started getting supply chains started yesterday. I've spent a good part of my day getting volunteers set up. Still, it's going to be bad, bad, bad.

I'm sorry, I don't know what these acronyms are.

Were they picking up strays and such to evacuate?

HSUS=Humane Society of the United States

EARS=Emergency Animal Response System

HSUS came in to help the local animal shelters evacuate. Ears has been working with livestock and such in the area. Both are incredible organizations made up primarily of selfless people who donate their time. I wish I could do frontline stuff, by my intense fear of certain dog breeds coupled with asthma which is greatly aggravated by heat/cold/stress make me a poor candidate for this type of work. So I do what I am best suited for, which is coordination of logisitics and talking people into donating everything from kitty litter to bath towels to cold hard cash.

i'll be watching the coverage as much as possible, will probably end up taking off work early tommorrow too, and checking the coverage closely, mainly because if it hugs the western edge of the track as some models are saying we will see the storm in our area around darkl tommorrow.

When they are headed in my direction, I have the TV coverage on constantly, go back and forth between 3 websites regarding the storms, and am obsessive about tracking its whereabouts on my tracking map. It really is not out of fascination, it actually gives you a strange sense of control in a situation in which you really have none.

As for this one, I check the TV every so often to see what is going on, but I can't sit glued to it. It hurts me too bad to imagine the devastation that will occur. I pray that everyone in its path will be able to get to a safe location.

As for some earlier posts about how animals react, they truly can sense the danger. When Charlie was headed to Tampa last year, my usually laid back cat was a nervous mess the whole morning, just running around from window to window and then hiding under the couch. Then suddenly at one point about an hour or so before it was supposed to hit us, she became relaxed and even started purring. Strangely enough, several minutes later, the TV announced that the storm had turned and was no longer heading towards us.

Thank you ducklite for doing this!! I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for you for helping these poor animals. I would love to make a cash donation, could you let me know where and how to do this? Thanks.

I always watch the news when something big like this is going on. So I will be glued to the TV with this one for sure. It's so sad, and scary.

My fascination with weather catastrophies is a family joke. They think I need therapy for my addiction.
