I thought she acted like a spoiled brat also on that camping trip. I get that it was camping, it was cold and it was raining and she probably was miserable but could she not even TRY?

I told my DD, IF she had seen an episode of Sarah Palin's Alaska before agreeing with TLC about combining the two, she would have never, ever agreed to it. Sarah Palin is a true outdoorswoman, a very tough lady and that has been made very clear on that show. I don't even want to go on a hike with her!! lol I think Kate thought it could not possibly be the way it was. Remember when she went to the "dude ranch" and wore the dress (or skirt) and cowboy boots? I think she was probably thinking of being outdoors like that--and that was rough enough for her.

Even if I had wanted to act miserable on that trip to Alaska, I would have pretended--at least for the camera! lol It was hard to watch but from previous episodes, I knew it would be!

I did comment on that when it was on. What on earth was she thinking going on that show? I wonder if TLC made her, because I can't see her doing that on her own. Her behavior on that type of show didn't surprise me..and it was bad (it's on again tonight I see). Too bad John wasn't still involved..I think it was much more suited for him.

That said, I couldn't believe Sarah's daughter had to go on that white rapid ride on another show...she definately did not want to go. I thought it was a bit dangerous.

I don't watch either show regularly but do when you guys talk about how stupid Kate was on a show. which seems to be quite often...
I watched last night at midnight and couldn't believe how Kate acted. She should have gone back to her hotel and let the kids enjoy their trip because they seemed to be having a great time. She is just so into her that she didn't care what they were doing at all.
And as to Kate's free trip to Australia. I wonder when she is going. I feel sorry for the residents of that continent but this is not somewhere where I can see Kate right now.

I lived next door to Kate Gosselin when I lived in Wernersville, PA. I recently moved about 5 miles away and see her out and about time to time. She's not as horrible as a person everyone makes her seem. She really does mean well for her children and doesn't walk around like she's better than anybody.

How boring would a TV show be if there wasn't any drama? If they filmed and edit clips from every day life from any celebrity I think it would be boring as well. I'd want to see the drama and exciting parts of their life and watch it.

I had heard about this on the DIS boards, so I had to watch the special with sarah Palin and Kate. She acted like such a spoiled princess. I am not one to be cold - in fact I hate it. Although I do know that just standing there under a tarp rather than helping collect fire wood (which will keep you warm)is just silly!
The part that broke my heart is to see the kids having such a good time and she told them they were not Gossleins if they wanted to stay. What an awful thing to say to children. They were having fun and she made them leave.

I have to admit it was very entertaining to watch Sarah "the cheerleader" and Kate "the sourpuss" pretend to get along.

She's there right now...or may be home already. I believe she was there between Christmas and New Years.

I doubt that TLC made her whine and act like a spoiled brat. I doubt they made her tell the kids that if they didn't leave with her they weren't Gosselins. I doubt they made her say such a mean thing to the little Palin girl who was so excited about meeting them.

I don't even like Sarah Palin but Kate definitely made Sarah look good!

I really think Kate plus 8 has jumped the shark and I really hope so for the sake of the kids.

I do have to ask..you would have left your kids in the care of others to watch them next to that rushing water and in the rain to go to a hotel? If she had done that, she would have been more torn apart than she was. I did watch it again more carefully last night, because I was busy and in and out the first time it was on. Kate did stay under the tarp while it was raining...when we used to camp without an RV, we all stayed under a tarp.
The difference between Kate and I is, that I wouldn't have gone 'camping' in the first place in the rain and cold. I wouldn't have whined as she did, I just wouldn't have gone. My kids would have been kept in, warm and dry. That's what I meant when I said I wonder if it was in her contract she had to go...and at the end, she decided it wasn't worth it. I thought her kids left pretty readily, unless that was more editing and we just didn't see them make a fuss. She did say would you rather be a Palin, which I didn't think was the same as saying you can't be my family if you stay.
Did she whine? Yes. Should TLC and Kate have taken the kids out in that weather? Should they have been in bear country, with just Sarah for protection? Not in my opinion.
I also wouldn't have taken my younger child like Sarah did white water rafting..she didn't want to go, and her mom fluffed her off (I assume she is being paid for her kids being on the TV show). She didn't appear to be having a good time and said she was scared.

Kate was ridiculous with her whining and moaning. The kids seemed to be having fun so how about taking one for the team since Kate was the one who decided to take the kids to Alaska.

How many having just a little bit of manners? Don't let your kids go ripping through someone's home and then act to nonchalant about the tongue being out of the bear rug?

How about not being rude to a little girl asking her if they really like this?

I would not have left my kids near that water and in the rain to spend the night with people I don't even know. I only trust myself around water to watch my kids. And that water was very fast moving. I can't even imagine how they would have bedded all the kids down..everything was so wet and cold.

You are right..being cold may just lower your immune system..the cold air may not actually be what makes you sick. Whatever...it was miserable and my kids would not have been out in that weather. Being cold and wet and does not make me comfortable and unlike Kate, my kids would not have been out in it. I would have waited for a better day.

My thoughts exactly! Kate embarrassed herself. I was shocked at her behaviour. It was uncalled for and I felt bad for her children. She was yelling that she was hungry and stomping around. She was acting like such a spoiled brat!

On Sarah Palin's Alaska -- seeing Kate whine that she was hungry and chuck her moose hot-dog to the ground was just amazing. Isn't moose organic? How about showing some respect for her hosts?

We may disagree but I would have been mortified if my kids went tearing through the house of someone they just me, and wouldn't have been so nonchalant about "does the tongue come out, well it does now" attitude.
