Are we getting a little personal? I didn't comment and say that you saw something different. I only commented on how I saw the show.

I really do just have a different attitude than many of you when watchng the show. I do not see unhappy kids. I did not see a bunch of unhappy kids to be leaving the wet and cold wilderness. They very well may have been disappointed, but it wasn't real obvious..unless of course TLC edited that out. But then most of you don't believe this is editing. And because I do hang around on a site other than this, I know that I'm not the only one who saw the show like I did.

I guess because I don't watch it assuming it's/she's going to bad, I don't see what she says and does as much difference to what I witness on my trips to Disney and how many parents are with their children. I figure it's a show, with lots of editing and drama. And it is. People wouldn't watch it without the drama. If they didn't edit it to make people talk, it would be off the air. (did whe whine? Yes. Did I expect her not too? Nope, I knew she would when I saw the rain and cold). Almost two years ago most of you said her 15 minutes were up..and yet, here she is, still on the show. And you are still all talking about her and her 15 minutes being up. Obviously, lucky for TLC, her 15 minutes keep dragging on and on. And that's because she's still being discussed.

And Kate's an idiot if she had no idea what it was going to be like.

I don't usually call people idiots, but I do think judging by her reaction that this wasn't what she thought it was going to be. Ther are campgrounds in Alaska that are not primitive. Campgrounds just like we have here in the Northeast..more like resort campgrounds. There are all types of campgrounds in Alaska. This was primitive. Add to that the rain and the cold, and I wouldn't want to be there, even being paid. Eight wet kids in tents...must be fun at bathroom time. Not my idea of fun.

I don't know how you can say with a straight face you don't see unhappy kids. I don't even WATCH the show and I've never seen a happy picture of those kids!!

I'm glad you KNOW that LOL. By the way, no where did I say poor Kate. She's in this for the money and that would have something to do with why she was there. I'm more like shame on you Kate for bringing your kids camping in such miserable weather.
However, if she had left the kids with Sarah and gone to a dry hotel herself, I have no doubt people would be blasting her for that. I'd be curious, if this wasn't Kate, how many people would still think this was a fun thing..having the kids out in the rain and cold.

I guess for me, it's just easier to see the good in people, rather than always expecting the bad.

Back when I watched the show (a few years ago) I never saw any good in Kate. From the bits I've seen recently, that hasn't changed.

You are right...I don't see the same show (that you now watch sometimes) that you see. I have seen some good and some bad. In most of the shows I've seen the kids have been happy with what activity brought them to taping and I've seen her be great with her kids. There are eight kids, so at any given time, there is bound to be a sad/upset one like in any family.

The good thing for you is, you don't need to watch it, or read about it if you so intensly dislike her. It's a choice. As I've said in the past, the way to make this go away, is if no one bothers with her or the shows. But that just doesn't seem to happen.

You and I can go back and forth, but really, there is no point..we both see things differently and we won't change each other's minds.

Couldn't Kate brought her own food or contributed something toward the campout. She could have asked Sarah if she could bring something, since she was bringing 6 kids with her.

I didn't watch the show, but I seriously doubt Sarah and Kate even spoke before the trip. I'm sure TLC arranged it all.

When they showed Kate + 8 here (the first series without Jon) just a few months ago, there were only about 5 episodes and it stopped .... kinda in an odd place too Were there more episodes?? Or did the same happen to you guys? Is there a reason it seemed to get cut short??

Unfortunately, Kate and her brood dont make news over here so i have to try and find everything on the net!

The shows that she did were random and not in line with anything like a season or school year etc, she tapes shows as there are places and events that are worth TLC's while to send a camera crew for, like Alaska and Australia. Those are all freebie trips that are filmed in part for her "work" but apparently even though she is getting paid, she doesn't have to whistle while she works like the rest of us.

Hi, welcome to our thread. I think you are the first person, I ever saw post, that lived near Kate and see her. I believe too, that she is just like anyone else every day. But people have problems with TLC taping her and her kids, and it seems like they have to leave the area and go on lavish vacations now, to get any footage.

Kate and TLC have gone over a few shows and Kate has done some voice-overs to explain some of the situations. I know there are Seasons of Video's out there. They are available on TLC's website.
And this is our 8th or 9th thread discussing the Gosslins. You can go back and search and find some older one's. You would probably be reading for a few months, getting through the threads.

Just curious, did you ever watch any of her shows? If so, do you really think that all of the drama was only editing? Or are you saying that it was scripted to make it more interesting? IMHO, if she said and yelled it then it can't be "edited to make it look/sound like she did" otherwise she would be screaming from the hilltops that TLC misrepresented her.

That show was/is all her doing and she is too caught up with the fame and fortune to realize that it will have damaging effects on her children for years to come. That is not "meaning well for her children"

Maybe someone could catch me up on the facts. Do Kate and Jon have joint custody? Why is that he isn't able to prevent her from parading these kids out in front of the cameras like reality toy dolls. Obviously the kids are minors and aren't able to consent for themselves.
I know I've heard "they love it". They are also children, and you can't miss what you never had. (a normal life..). This just really seems to have spiraled out of control. If Kate wants to be in a reality show..fine, but she ought to leave her kids out of the public eye. These children are nothing more than cash cows. Very sad.

Personally i dont think she uses her kids. I think she is a (now) single mother doing what she can to make ends meet and give those kids the best life she knows how. JMHO of course

But as I've read, not to stop them from working, but so they would be home on his 'day' to have them. I don't know if it's true, but that's what most of the reports say. Maybe he waited too long to try and stop the filming.

I wonder if he is paying support now that he has a job. I ask because the judge seems to always side with them taping the show..maybe for the money? I don't understand if he doesn't want the kids to be on this reality show, why he doesn't seem to have a say in it. I also wonder if he's still under contract with TLC.

I'm sure some of our legal eagles can look up the court docs--but I don't think they have joint custody. I believe Jon voluntarily gave custody to Kate.

And from what little I know based on folks I know in custodial situations--barring SERIOUS issues...and by that, I mean Kate doing Heroin on tv while the kids have dropped out of school and showing it all on tv...and even then it is sketchy....

The custodial parent can pretty much make parenting decisions like that as long as it doesn't interfere with whatever arrangements there are.

I know it is hard to believe, but there are parents out there much worse than Kate could ever be...and their custody arrangements are rock solid that pretty much prevents one parent from dictating to the other parent what they can and can not do with the kids on their time.

Sad, but true.

This is why Jon loses in court when he tries to prevent something. He doesn't get to dictate what the kids can and cannot do in their spare time. He gave that right up when he gave up custody.

That's why I Can't stand him or his pseudo-attempts to think of the children. I don't believe for one second that they are nothing more than a manipulative tactic so that he can claim he tried and look good to those who are watching.

It stinks, but that is how custody can work sometimes. Otherwise, the non-custodial parent would be attempting to call lots of shots that they have no rights to make. They surrender that control when they give up custody or they lose it.
