~ Kate Plus Eight ~

Why was Kate on Regis and Kelly Friday.
I read on Radaronline that she made a statement that the kids didn't like spending time with their dad. I'm almost thinking Kate is trying to stir up problems again. There is a new show on tonite right?

I don't remember if it was discussed here, but a while ago there was the video of the kids wailing when returned to Kate. I mean hysterical wailing on having to leave Jon.

Pictures don't lie. In the ones we have seen, who do the kids look happier with? Kate knows the answer to that too.

I didn't like the comment she made about waiting for them calling to come home. It's not a sleepover - it's their time with their father. Jon shouldn't be under the pressure of having to "entertain" his children for fear that they will call up Kate and demand to come home if they are bored/not having a great time. My parents were not divorced, but most of my "quality" time with my father involved us doing outside chores together - hardly fun, but those are memories I cherish now.

I haven't seen them unhappy with either parent (and if I did, not having any idea what went up with them, it would mean nothing IMO). I've seen them laughing and having a good time with them both. I also am not privy to what the kids tell Kate or Jon or who they like being with, but no matter what it is, it should be kept private. Both Jon and Kate need to not comment on each other or the time the kids spend with each other.

It's hard with divorce..certainly the parent who shows the kids the best time, and does the least amount of discipline is prob the parent the kids enjoy the most, but it's about much more than that. Just because kids enjoy being with one parent more than the other, doesn't mean the other parent is doing a bad job. I have no idea which is the 'fun' parent and which is the disciplinarian with J & K, but with divorced families I know, it seems like one parent is more fun for the kids to be with. I know if my husband and I ever divorced, and my kids never wanted to do housework or homework, and bedtime was whenever (and take out was the choice of the meal), the best choice for them, would have been my husband LOL!

I know it is mean to laugh, but those poor children on the boat puking.
I also wondered why they didn't have life vests on. It was very choppy waters. I've never been on a fishing boat, so I don't know the rules, but I know when we are on my dad's boat, everyone has to have a life vest.

Me and my dh were talking about the adults on the boat that started to puke. My dh said, he would of puked watching the kids puke. I disagreed and said, they all got sea sick too.

Security Steve was holding a bucket and he grumbled and rolled his eyes.
I like the way, she still calls Steve-security-I'm still betting Kate and Steve are an item.

The camera guy admitted that it was his 3rd time on a boat and he gets sea sickness.

I was glad the kids seemed to be laughing and joking about getting sick. I felt bad they showed it, but the kids treated it as an adventure, and they were pretty giggly about it! I'm glad they felt well enough to fish. I loved watching them when they talked about it.I was also happy that Mady wasn't forced to go on the boat.

I loved seeing them try to surf, and see what a natural Cara seemed to be at it. Mady and Kate were good sports for trying it also.

No life jackets..were they nuts??

As for Steve and Kate, I hope not, since Steve's wife and Kate are friends. I would really dislike Kate if Kate was cheating with her friends husband. Or anyone's husband.

Simply disgusting. Not just the shots of the kids wearing their own puke. The "oh well, too late now" from Kate when the kids wanted to go in to dock. The "little surfing instructor man" that Kate treated like she treats every other paid employee. How about using his name. Who shows their kids puking their guts up and happily continues on with the trip? I thought it was disgusting how hands off she was. What is with her and the throw up buckets? It's too much for me. I get motion sickness and know how horrible it is. They bought fish at a fish market, they didn't catch their dinner. It was for the footage. NC law says all passengers under 13 on a recreational vehicle under 21' long must wear uscga life vests. My guess is this is not the case on larger, commercial vessels. You don't have to wear them on our ferry system.

So Friday Kate was in NY proclaiming that her kids call her when they are with Jon in order to come home. According to radaronline, on Saturday, she was in Mexico with Steve the bodyguard so I guess she isn't too concerned with whether or not her children want to be at their "home", just enough to get media sympathy for those statements.

Cara and Mady are not in the pictures with Jon and his girlfriend and they are not with Steve and Kate so I am curious, maybe they jumped ship altogether with spending time with either parent. ;)

Apparently the 4 day trip to Mexico with Steve the bodyguard is work related, and there are yet some more new bikinis, and her "girls" look like they got a vacation too, from any restrictive clothing that is.

I wish they would just take Kate out of the show and have the show just with the kids. I feel they are old enough to do alone. I can't believe the chance of seasickness never crossed anyone's mind. We were thinking of doing a fishing trip this summer while in FL and I was definitely looking into seasickness remedies.

My sister is divorced and my DNiece calls all the time to come home. She's 15. All of her "stuff" is at home. She's more comfortable there. I believe it just goes with the territory. Unless he is taking her places or doing things with her, she doesn't like her precious little time with him stuck doing chores or running errands. Yes, chores and errands are a fact of life and she understands that. But as a kid still "it's all about her". I would imagine that the Gosselin kids are no different than other kids with divorced parents. :confused3 Just my 2 cents.

I saw Jon get the kids off the bus, maybe they only had a half a day and Mady and Cara were still in school. They were eating lunch.

As for Kate and Steve in Mexico, what a joke. Radaronline says, "Kate still needs a bodyguard." If she was on vacation, don't you think she would go with a friend and try to be incognito. If she truly is friends with Steve's wife, then Steve's wife should be along if it is a vacation. I'm betting there will be some announcement soon.

Why would his wife be along, if that is his job (everything I read said she was also working..not sure on what)? As long as I don't have to pay him I don't care how many security people she brings. I sort of doubt that Kate would want to go incognito, since she seems to love attention. Do some people think she is also 'dating' the African American security person (whose name I've never seen posted), since he was in SC with the family also?
If there is an announcement and Steve separates from his wife, then that will be different. I'm pretty sure in that case she would no longer be friends with the wife, if she starts dating Steve. It was Steve's wife who originally said they were good friends, but he does spend a lot of time with Kate and seems to be able to get along well with her..so who knows, maybe someday that will happen. But unless it harms the kids, that would be up to Steve and his wife, if their marriage is having problems and while it would be sad, it wouldn't be my business. Does someone know if she is no longer dating the coach in her town?

Did anyone else think it was a little weird during the beach house episode when Kate mention her and Jamie sleeping in the same bed?
I just thought it was weird.

I forgot about that, but I did hear it and also thought..what the heck? I could see if they were teens, but as big as that house was, there weren't enough beds?

I have been on a fishing boat like that and you aren't required to wear a life jacket, no matter what age. DS and I have been inland day fishing, which is not very far out and then whatever is between that and deep sea fishing, which I think is what the Gosselins did. There is a big difference in the possibility of seasickness. And truthfully, by the time the kids started puking, it would have probably been worse to turn around and go back. They would have had twice the swells and all that. Best thing is to get to where you anchor and fish and then people's stomachs settle down. Once they settle down things are usually fine. I AM surprised that Kate didn't foresee the possibility of seasickness and get the patches or arm bands plus bring extra clothing.

DS is always happy to come home as well. It's just not the same when he is with his dad, because he has to share a room, eat food he doesn't really care for, and stuff like that.

Yeah, that's what she said on the show. I was happy to see they slept a bit and then were able to fish. I wonder why they didn't clean the fish for them and send them home with them. That's what they did when my DH went deep sea fishing, not that he was able to get many (although from what it sounds like, the G kids were amature compared to how sick my DH got LOL).

From what I saw, they were catching stuff like lizard fish and baby sharks, so not something anyone would want to eat. When we went out on the fishing boat, we always threw everything out. It was more for the sport of fishing to us.

Yeah, couldn't she have slept in Jon's old apartment above the garage?:lmao:

Sorry, it just irked me-I guess I let the tabloids assumptions get to me. If I would see my dh wearing the same colored shirt as the same as Kate, and how close and cozy they seem to be-I wouldn't be very comfortable at all with the situation. I was watching the Kardashian's and Chris Jenner insisted that Kim her oldest dd now have a body guard, and he was telling her all the different assignments he had. He told her, it is best to keep rotating within his company, to guard different celebrities, so you don't get to comfortable, otherwise, you begin to let your guard down. Kim asked him, if he ever gets re-assigned and he said sure. It can be a few days, weeks or months, but it is good to keep rotating.

I'm betting her days at Cabo, were a gift from the Emmy's, don't they usually give a vacation to a spa somewhere, in those gift bags. So Kate is probably calling it work, since it had to do with her working at the Emmy's.. this is just my guess.

I'm not trying to stir up a visitation debate. Of course when kids live at one house more than another they are going to feel like that is their home and the other one is not. I just think that the parents should try to teach their children that it is the time with your loved one that is important. And making sure that they spend time with the other parent or relatives should be high on the list - not whether or not the kid is having a "good time."

Growing up I would have much rather preferred hanging out with my friends than spending time with my grandparents - but my parents taught us that family should always come first. Now, my boyfriend grew up with divorced parents and his vistation with his father mostly involved sitting on a barstool next to his dad (this was the '70s, when I guess kids in bars was acceptable). Obviously, if the person getting visited does not seem to want a relationship, it is a different matter. But it seems that Jon enjoys having his kids visit him and tries to do appropriate activities. Allowing the kids to decide when and how long they visit their father at 6 and 9 years old sounds like it is sending the wrong message to the kids.

This just struck me as funny. They weren't even the same shades of blue if you look close. I guess I don't get it. Really, not being argumentative, but are you saying you think they planned it? Hey, Steve, what color shirt are you wearing tomorrow, I'd like to match you. Just struck my funny bone..I seldom match my hubby, and I really love him. Now, if the shirts were both the same, I might see something funny there. I wonder, if Radar hadn't planted it in our minds, that the shirts matched, would we even have noticed? Quick, without looking, what color shirts do Jon and his girlfriend have on..do they match? I haven't a clue and I wouldn't have looked at the color shirts Kate or Steve had on, if Radar hadn't clued me in LOL.
