Day 5—Tuesday, October 26, 2004

I woke up early to meet Travelin’Tigger to head over to MGM for early entry. We arrived at the park and were in the gates a few minutes before 8:00. We immediately walked to the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster, and were in the first preshow. When we got out of the preshow, I was first in line for the ride. We were in the first row of the first car of the day, which was pretty cool. I was never the first person on a ride before.

We rode the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster a second time before heading over to the Tower of Terror for two rides. We then went to the Great Movie Ride. We were in the front row right next to the driver, so I was having fun chatting with the driver throughout the ride.

After the Great Movie Ride, I said goodbye to Travelin’Tigger, as I had plans to meet Leah at the Magic Kingdom. I took the bus to the Ticket & Transportation Center, and the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. I had some time to kill before meeting Leah, so I got a spicy cheese pretzel in Tomorrowland. It was my favorite snack of the week—it had cheese baked right in the middle of it. Yum.

I then headed over to Mickey’s Philharmagic to meet Leah. I started chatting with a family who had five kids between the ages of three and ten! It was a great family. The kids were adorable, and seemed very well behaved. When we made it into the theatre, we chose a row where a family of about eight decided that they would plop themselves down in the middle of the row. Everyone was asking them to move down, but they refused, so everyone had to climb over them. When I got to them, I did something very un-Disney. I accidentally on purpose stepped on the toes of the mom and dad (but not the kids), saying excuse me all the way. When I got to the other side of the group, there was only one seat yet, so I made the point of telling the father that this is what happens when people don’t move all the way down when they are asked. The father said that it would have been nice if they had been told that, and I told him that I had been in the theatre for less time than him, and I heard them announce it at least twice. Rude people.

Mickey’s Philharmagic was fantastic. I really love this show. The 3D effects are amazing, and it’s fun hearing my favorite songs from some of my favorite Disney movies. I never tire of watching this one. I love watching for the kids reaching for the stuff coming off the screen.

The Magic Kingdom was empty this day. We wound up dubbing it “Ride Everything Twice Day,” since everything except for the Fantasyland rides had less than 20 minute waits. We were originally planning on leaving the Magic Kingdom after lunch, but it was so dead, we decided to stay the day.

After Mickey’s Philharmagic, we headed over to Frontierland to ride Splash and Thunder. We got Fast Passes for Splash right before they closed the Fast Pass machines for the day. We then went and rode on Thunder Mountain. It was then our Fast Pass return time for Splash, so we jumped in line. We really lucked out. We had the best log ever for the ride. There was a father and son in the front row, and the son loved Splash almost as much as I do. He had his hands up at every single drop just like me. Leah and I were in the second row. There was a family of four in the last two rows. We sang, and clapped, and screamed throughout the ride. We had the best time!

We then grabbed Fast Passes for Thunder Mountain, and headed to Pecos Bill’s for lunch. I used a voucher and got a bacon double cheeseburger with fries, chocolate cream pie, and a diet coke. Leah got a burger and chili cheese fries. I love the condiment bar at Pecos Bill’s. I got some cheese sauce to dip my fries in. The chocolate cream pie was frozen, so it wasn’t very good.

After lunch, we road on Thunder and Splash again, and then headed towards Adventureland. Even though we were pretty stuffed from lunch, we needed to get a Dole Whip, as neither of us had gotten them yet during our trip. We stopped and took a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean along the way. When I walked out to the window to get my Dole Whip, I told the guy who sold it to me that he was my new favorite person because he was selling me a Dole Whip. It was a yummy as I remembered them being.

We then headed over to Fantasyland and grabbed Fast Passes for Peter Pan. We went back to Mickey’s Philharmagic, and encountered another rude family. This family was sitting behind us, and they had a child who was around seven or eight who was terrified of the movie. He was screaming, “I want to go. I want to go. I don’t like this.” But the mother didn’t want to leave. She let him scream hysterically for about five minutes before she finally took him out. I know these shows can be intimidating for kids, but if your child is screaming hysterically, you really need to take him out immediately so that it doesn’t ruin the attraction for the other people in the theatre. This kid was screaming so badly you could tell he wouldn’t stop. He was screaming so loud that people several rows in front of us were turning to look back to see what was going on.

Despite the screaming kid, we still enjoyed Mickey’s Philharmagic for the second time of the day. This time, we were sitting just a few seats from the end of the row, and I have to admit that the 3D effects are not as good from the sides as they are from the middle (but I would never plop myself down in the middle of the row like the rude family we encountered earlier in the day).

After Mickey’s Philharmagic, we went to Tomorrowland and road on Space Mountain three times, Buzz Lightyear, and Tomorrowland Transit Authority. We then went over to ride Peter Pan.

We then left to go to dinner at Beaches & Cream. We were using vouchers for the meal. We both got the chicken Caesar salad. I got fries with mine, and Leah got onion rings. The salads were excellent. The dressing and chicken were both very tasty. For dessert, Leah got coffee ice cream with jimmies, and I got a mud slide sundae. My sundae was awesome. The brownie was fantastic. I really enjoyed my sundae. It was so big that I only ate about half of it.

After dinner, Leah left to go back to Epcot. I walked to the Boardwalk to go to Jellyrolls. I had some time to kill, so I walked around the Boardwalk for a while. I met Travelin’Tigger there. We watched a guy doing tricks with a paddle ball, and browsed around for a while. We went to Jellyrolls early, and grabbed a table right up front next to Scotty’s piano.

When the night started, Scotty and Tommy were taking requests that everyone was calling out. I asked Tommy to play some James Taylor, as I always love hearing Tommy sing James Taylor songs (and James is one of Tommy’s favorite singers). He sang “Fire & Rain,” which is my favorite James Taylor song. I put a $10 on Scotty’s piano with a request for “When I’m 64.” Scotty said it was a good request, and I replied, “You do a nice job on it.”

After Scotty and Tommy finished their first set of the night, I ran to the ladies room, and when I walked back into the main room, Scotty was waiting to say hello to me. We gabbed for a bit, and Travelin’Tigger came over so I could introduce him to her. We were talking about how many people I send to the bar, and Travelin’Tigger told him how I always tell everyone how great he is. He said, “I like you more every time you come down here.” Scotty also yelled at me for tipping him so big, but I always tip him big. He wound up playing “What A Wonderful World” for me later in the evening.

PandyPaws was at Jellyrolls with a bunch of other safari drivers that nights. One of their friends was turning 21, and she showed up at the bar at midnight. Scotty and Tommy dragged the birthday girl, PandyPaws, and their friends onstage for the chicken dance. Scotty did the chicken dance with them. He briefly gave me a hard time for just standing there (I don’t do the chicken dance), but not too much of a hard time.

Travelin’Tigger and I stayed at Jellyrolls until Scotty and Tommy finished their last set of the evening. It was another great night at Jellyrolls, and I can’t wait to get back to the bar in December.

Sounds like a perfect day - great rides at MGM and MK, followed by an evening at Jellyrolls!

I read your reports and had fun hearing about your trip.

I can't wait til December!

oh, that's right, I am!!! :teeth:

Definitely going to try and be at Jellyrolls Thursday night by 9pm - I hope Scotty and Ray are scheduled. Karen, you're right once again - they are the best piano players, especially together!!!

Think I saw you at MGM that morning. They had us all lined up and then we had to slowly walk to our destinations (though most people went right). You were in the street and I was on the sidewalk to the right.

You even make it fun to read about the obnoxious families, Karen :teeth:. Your trip reports make me even more ready to hang out with you in December.

The countdown is on :cool1:.
