Day 2—Sunday, December 5, 2004

I woke up at 7:00 to get ready to head to the Magic Kingdom for early entry. I was planning on meeting a DISer—Debi—in the lobby of the Swan to head to the park. I had a quick breakfast in the room, and was off to meet Debi. We took the bus to the Magic Kingdom, and arrived a few minutes before 8:00. They were doing some filming for the Christmas parade, so we had to take a round about way to get to Fantasyland. We road on Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Mickey’s Philharmagic, and Snow White.

We then went to wait for the rope drop to go to Frontierland to ride on Splash and Thunder Mountains. When the rope dropped, we walked to the Mountains, and got a ride in on both of them. Debi had plans to meet up with her Off Kilter friends, so she left to head to Epcot, but I promised to meet up with her at 1:00 to catch the first Off Kilter show of the day.

I decided to take a spin around the monorail to check out the holiday decorations at the monorail resorts. My first stop was the Contemporary. I really enjoyed looking at the chocolate display there—I loved the flat chocolate Disney characters that they had. The gingerbread houses were cute too.

I then went to the Polynesian. I almost missed the chocolate display here. They had one of the Great Ceremonial House complete with a toy monorail spinning around it. It was a relatively simple display, but I really liked it.

I then headed to the Grand Floridian. The tree looked as beautiful as I remember from previous years, and the Gingerbread house was amazing. I love watching people’s reactions when they realize there is a little store set up inside.

I then took the monorail to Epcot. I grabbed a quick lunch of a cheeseburger and fries at the Electric Umbrella, and went to meet up with my friends from the Yaya thread. I was very excited to meet the gang from the Yaya thread, who I have gotten to know in the past year. I had met a few of them before, but I was meeting many of them for the first time.

We were meeting at Ice Station Cool to grab nice, refreshing cups of Beverly. On my way to Ice Station Cool, I ran into one of the Yayas, CrazyBoutDisney, who I already knew. Right when I got to CrazyBoutDisney, her phone rang, and we realized it was our friend Lizdotcom99 calling from home, so I told CrazyBoutDisney to let me try to confuse Lizdotcom99 by answering her phone. I answered it, and tried to order a pizza from Lizdotcom99.

After annoying Lizdotcom99, we went over to Ice Station Cool with Helenabear and her DH, and CrazyBoutDisney's DH DaveH to wait for the rest of the Yaya group. TigerLily03 and her DH Ted soon arrived, followed by Towncrier, and his wife Sue, KristaTX , KayTX, Isyne4u, and FLRose. Also present were representatives for two of our Yaya friends who were stuck at home—Little Lizdotcom99 and Little Merriweather. It was so nice to put faces to the name of these lovely ladies I’ve been yapping with online for a while now.

We all went into Ice Station Cool to get some Beverly. Towncrier must have drank five or six cups of the stuff. I think I gulped down two cups. I think most of us really drank at least one cup (or at least claimed to). Even little Lizdotcom99 and little Merriweather had some Beverly. There is plenty of video and pictures of our escapade at Ice Station Cool. Wonder what I can use for blackmail…

Moving on, we headed to Morocco so everyone could grab a bite to eat. Since I had already eaten, and also had plans to meet up with Debi, I said goodbye to everyone in Morocco, and went to Canada to see Off Kilter with Debi.

We sat on the rock wall right in front of the stage. There was a big meet of Off Kilter fans going on so there were about 25 die hard Off Kilter fans watching the show. In the middle of the set, a woman was trying to get a picture of her kid with the band in the background, so I stood up to get out of the picture. As soon as I stood up, and started to take a few steps, Jamie and Mark said, “You, where are you going?” I told them that the woman was taking a picture, so they posed for it. I sat back down on the ledge and watched the rest of the set.

After Off Kilter, I said goodbye to Debi. I went over and grabbed some Fast Passes for Test Track to use later in the day with my friend KatyPop. I also caught up with the Yayas again in Japan. As the Yayas began to disperse, I walked towards the front end of Epcot with DaveH and CrazyBoutDisney. I had some time to kill before meeting up with KatyPop, so I browsed around Mouse Gears for a bit.

At 3:00, I went to meet KatyPop in front of Ice Station Cool. We had a bit of time before our 4:10 priority seating at LeCellier for the Candlelight Processional Dinner, so we decided to ride on Spaceship Earth. I always enjoy this ride—except when you are going down backwards—there is an angle that you hit on the down slope that puts a lot of pressure on my back, and is very uncomfortable. We then walked over to Imagination, and took a spin on the ride.

It was then time to eat, and boy, was I ready for this meal. We were seated within 15 minutes, and had a quiet booth in the corner set away from the rest of the restaurant. We had a great waitress—Tara, who was very perky and friendly. I started off with cheddar cheese soup and a ceasar salad, followed by filet mignon, and s’mores. KatyPop got a shrimp appetizer, mushroom filet mignon, and the chocolate moose. I really enjoyed my meal. The cheddar cheese soup was as yummy as ever (and my breadsticks were quickly dipped in the soup), and my filet was very tender. The s’mores were delicious as well—I was so stuffed from my meal I only ate about half of it.

After dinner, we went to ride Test Track. We actually made it through the entire ride without stopping, which shocked me, as the ride seemed to be having lots of problems when I was there in October. We also took a ride on the boat rides in Mexico and Norway.

We then went to get in line for the Candlelight Processional. We got there an hour early, and the line for dinner package holders was already to the archway in Japan! We heard it stretched all the way to Morocco as the time for the show drew closer.

Jim Caviel was the narrator that night, and he was amazing. Jim played Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ” and there was something incredibly moving about seeing him as the narrator of the candlelight processional. From articles I’ve read about him, I knew that Jim is a devout Catholic, so, as a Catholic, that added to my experience. The show was as moving as ever. I’ve seen it five times now, and it still gives me goosebumps every time. Jim was a charismatic, passionate, and charming narrator. He even cracked a joke about doing the performance in Aremaic. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that experience.

After the Candlelight Processional, I said goodbye to KatyPop and headed over to Jellyrolls. I was really looking forward to going to the bar that night because I was very interested to see Scotty, one of my favorite piano players, perform with Jason, a real fireball of a piano player. Scotty and Jason were a lot of fun to watch—they really played well together, and complimented each other. I still prefer watching Scotty with Ray, though.
In between sets, Scotty stopped by to say Hello. I had plans to bring in a large group of DISers later in the week, and had thought that Scotty and Ray weren’t going to be there the night of the big meet. When I saw him in October, Scotty had told me that they were going to Michigan that night for an event, but I had read on the www.thepianomen.com schedule that they were playing that night. When I asked Scotty about it, he joked that they cancelled the trip just for me. He did tell me that when he realized the trip was cancelled, he told Ray to make sure that both of them were scheduled that night, as he knew that I was bringing a big group in. I thought that was incredibly sweet of him.

Camcolt and WebmasterAlex showed up at Jellyrolls around midnight. I wasn't expecting them, so I was pleasantly surprised when they showed up. I put a request for a good old Boston song—Charlie on the MTA—on Scotty’s piano for my friends from Boston. WebmasterAlex teased me about drinking diet coke, so next thing you know, I was drinking Jack Daniels and coke.

Camcolt had three drinks that night, so she made a hidden Mickey out of her cups. I made a hidden Mickey out of popcorn, and then decide to search the popcorn basket for a real hidden Mickey piece of popcorn. I didn’t find a hidden Mickey, but I did find a hidden Goofy (which I took home with me—how much do you think I can get for it on e-bay?).

Late in the evening, Christian, another one of the piano players, came out to do a song with Scotty. Scotty and Christian don’t usually play together, as they are both relatively new to the job compared to the rest of the piano players, so I was thrilled to be able to see that as well. Scotty got to sit at the right hand piano and run the lights and everything (Tommy—another piano player—told WebmasterAlex that he was freaking out because Scotty didn’t know how to run the lights). I thought Scotty did quite well running the lights, and I look forward to the day when he is sitting at the right hand piano all the time.

When the bar closed, Camcolt, WebmasterAlex, and I headed over to Tubbi’s to get a bite to eat. I grabbed a Krispy Kreme, and Alex and Camcolt ordered a pizza. I really enjoyed showing off my hidden Goofy Popcorn to the folks over at Tubbi’s.

After we ate, we headed back to the Swan. It was 3:00 by the time I crawled into bed, and I had to be up at 7:00 to get ready for my Backstage Magic tour.

Hidden Goofy huh? I'll pay $30, no $40... $45.... (Just kidding)

For you, I'll sell it for $7--the cover charge for Jellyrolls ;)

Show us Hiden Goofy :)

What songs are your favourite that you ask for at Jellyrolls :)

Kaylee, I have different favorite songs taht I like to hear each of the piano players do. Here are some of them:

Scotty--Runaround Sue, Buttercup, When I'm 64, Happy Together
Ray--Dirty Water, Big Yellow Taxi
Tommy--Fire & Rain, Big Yellow Taxi (although I prefer Ray's version--but he makes fun of me when I request it now)
Jason--Pour Some Sugar on Me
Christian--Love Shack
Drew--I'd rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard than put a request on his piano

Well its not the greatest, but you get the idea...

Yes, the picture does not do the hidden Goofy justice, but it's better than nothing. Maybe I can hold visiting hours for the popcorn Goofy and charge a dollar for people to come see it.

Karen

Wow. CamColt would pay $2 to see Popcorn Goofy, and she already saw him for free! I have a gold mine here, I'll tell ya. I'm seeing t-shirts, boxer shorts, lunch boxes, the sky's the limit!

Karen

Just think what you could make off the Disers alone, nevermind if you set up a stand outside the MK. I think Alex and I deserve a piece of this. ;)

I'll give you a cut, Katie, but Alex didn't really care for popcorn Goofy, so I don't think he should get a cut.

Karen

Thats true. Then again, he did get the bartender to make us some pretty strong drinks. ;)

Yes, that second Jack and coke I had was a whole lot of Jack and about a drop and a half of coke.
