Kardiebelle's Journal comments welcome!!

Yeah, those sandwiches do pack a whallop, but at least they stick with your for a while.

Good job balancing it out!

I need to get out and exercise but it is so hard. I can't just load 3 small kids up and go out for a walk. The other day we went to the park 3 blocks away and we go there and DD had to go potty. We went back home and by time we got home they were to tired to walk back to the park. It is so hard to find anytime to do anything. I go on the computer when I get all of the kids in bed. DH has been working nights in the ER now so through the day he is asleep and now I have to try to keep the kids quiet. DH sleeps through anything. But it is still a mental thing that I have to still keep them a little quiet. Well how is everyone going. I did sneek a few (4) potato chips today. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!! I also got to have a sugar cookie that I made with the kids. Have you seen the Madagascar cookies in the store? They are so evil. 1 cookie is 140 calories. :earseek: But I had to eat one because the kids helped decorate them. :) good excuse right?

breakfast 1 sausage link, 1 waffle, and 2 tsp light syrup.
lunch ham sandwich on wheat, and 15 tater tots
snack 4 potato chips and then I went in fridge and grabbed vegtables
dinner 3/4 cup of mashed potatoes with 3 TBSP of gravy, 4 oz meatloaf, 1/4 cup greenbeans, and salad

total 950 plus the ham for my sandwich

water 2 liters

talk to you later on. I hope everything is going great for all my disWISHers friends :cheer2:

Awesome job making the switch from chips to veggies. Good luck exercising...try the Elmo Exercise video maybe, you can involve your kids then.

I want a Madagascar Cookie! Where do you get one?

I bought them at a grocery store in the dairy area. They are already prepared dough. You cook them and then you put the frosting on them and the sugar image. DH had 4 of them today. They are so good. They must have tons of sugar in them because the kids had them for a snack tonight at 6:30 p.m. and the could not settle down at all. My DS just stood there and shook his head wild. They go to bed at 8:00 and they could not get to sleep till 9:00p.m. HUGE mistake by giving them those cookies. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

They had some pre-made Madagascar cookies in the bakery area of my grocery store. I almost couldn't resist getting a penguin, but he was just too cute to eat!

Sounds like you had a fun night--I'm sure just keeping up with the sugar-fueled kids was a workout and a half!

I hear you about your DH's work schedule. My DH handles the IT for our county and he's always on call, constantly getting called away, etc. on top of the 70 hour week. I'm sure it's even worse with a doctor!!! It's so cool you can manage the house and the troops by yourself--that's really something to be proud of!

Have a great night!

Hi, Kardiebelle! I am soooo behind on everyone's journals, but I have been thinking about you a lot and wanted to pop in to say "hi."

You are doing so well, being so aware of what you are eating and counting the calories. That is awesome! I love Jen's idea of getting a kids' workout video and involving the kids in some movement. Can't you just imagine how much fun they'd have?

I know you said you go on the computer at night when the kids go to sleep. Maybe you could get a Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds tape/dvd and do that for 1/2 hour after the kids are in bed. I know there is a divergence of opinion on this point, but I find I sleep much better after exercising.

Well, I will be away from here for the next several days. I will be thinking about you and hoping your weekend is absolutely wonderful. Take care of you!

Hello,

Good job on the snacking switch....chips to veggies! Try and do some exercise that invovles that kids.....I guess I am not really sure that there is since I don't have any kids, but it was a thought.

Have a great day and a fun weekend

Today I am not sure how I did because my dinner mixed me up. I hope I did fine. Thanks for all of the encouragment. We ALL now that we need as much as we can get. But Guess what I am doing I signed up for the AIDS walk and the walk for Diabetes today. I am the team captain and it is going to be so fun. They are both 10k and they are in sept. and oct. I cant wait. I also bought Walk away the pounds today with my 25% coupon that I got from my borders email. DD is so excited to workout with me and she is only 4 years old.

Breakfast bagel toasted with margarine and lofat yogurt and small bowl of watermelon
lunch 1 bean tostada
dinner chicken parmasiana from the Olive Garden this was the mistake meal I have no idea how much calories is in this dinner but I am sure that lunch and breakfast were under 500 calories and dinner should be under 1000 then I should be o.k. they give you so much and it is so hard to push it away to talk home because I just doesn't taste the same reheated. I did throw a little away because that is the most I ate in a while. I was so FULLLLLLLL!!

Hi everyone. Today was good. The kids kept fighting. DS age 3 told DD age 4 that he was going to punch her in her face. I pulled him over to the side and asked wher he learned that from and he would not tell me. I have a feeling it was DH because he was watching boxing the other day and he said "punch him in the head." We are going to have a long talk when he get home. We need to be careful what we say in front of them now. They are getting so grownup fast. I remember playing with barbies for a long time. DD doesn't even want barbies. She is very into Disney princesses. As for the fighting and the many timeout today I managed to eat o.k. For lunch/dinner we went to a all you can eat (in my case all you can't eat.) We went with my family. The name was Golden Corral. I thing it is the best all you can eat place. You get grilled steak, hamburgers and tons of chicken things. So good. Everything is fresh and hot.

Breakfast 1 piece of french toast
lunch/dinner large dish of salad with fat free dressing, next plate was cottage cheese and a a bunch of fruit, 3 plate was 1/2 cup of chili, 1/4 cup rice with 1 tbsp gravy and corn and greenbean mix. the third plate was very small because I was full and I knew I need someting hot. I am still not hungry so I will not eat. If I get hungry later maybe I will eat a yogurt. I am not sure about the calorie today because it is hard to caluculate maybe I will go to fitday and see then I will get back to you about it. Smiles kardiebelle

Does any one know if I can post a thread for DISers to sponser me and family? We are walking in the aids walk 10k and the walk for diabetes 5k. This will keep me motivated. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hello, Kardiebelle!

Yes, I am a little behind, but welcome to the WISH journals. Thanks for stopping by mine and lending support. ;)

I have just started to read your journal, so I am not caught up yet, but I do have some comments and suggestions that might help and thought I had better post as I read or I will forget.

First of all. This weight loss journey (not a diet) is about you and your health. It is about taking care of yourself, spending time on you, because you deserve it (I know, I am a mother of 4 ;) ) and you want to be the best person that you can be not just for you, but for your family. Yes, you are right, this will change your entire family because your moods will be better, you will be more energetic and you will learn to focus on what is most important.......it's not the food, but then you already knew that. :flower: You said in your first post that you are doing what your DH wanted you to do. Although, he may want this, it is ultimately your decisions that will determine your success. If you really want it bad enough, you will succeed.

Well there be tough days? Yeah, but they get easier with each passing day. Start thinking of this as a lifestyle change rather than a diet and cut the "d" word from the vocabulary. This should help with your DD's perception. After all, diets come and go, but a lifestyle change is permanent, something that you strive for daily.

It takes time, but success can be reached. Every morning you just get up and start again. That and the support here on the boards have been key factors in my loss over the last few months. You are doing great! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

About cravings..........(still reading)

If you have a craving you are better off just indulging in the craving and then being done with it. That said, I am not talking about eating a third of half a gallon of ice cream or a whole bag of chips or a king size candy bar (been there, done that, not good). Most of the time a craving can be dampened with just a serving or LESS.

When you don't give into the craving, you will find yourself eating more and more of everything else under the sun because you are still "looking" for the thing you know you want but continue to deny.

A sampling goes a long way. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Exercise..............well, I will get back to you on that one when I do it consistently. :rolleyes1

Don't discount the fact that you did go to the park and back, even if things didn't go according to plan. That is exercise. I have been at this for almost 4 months and I still have yet to get real serious about exercise, but I am getting better every day. It took alot of time (with such a large family) to just concentrate on getting into a better eating habit, that exercise took the back burner. So I made efforts to just get up and move more. It helps. Now, I am at the point that I can concentrate on the exercise, because I know my food is in line and requires much less thought. So.........it is okay to work on one area at a time. After all, you are building habits for a lifetime.

BTW, my youngest two were at it all day today as well. Must be something in the air. ;)

Have a great weekend. Looks like you are doing great! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

:earseek: Thanks Lesli54 your workd of encouragment mean alot to me. I listen to everything that is said to me and take it. Everything you said to me will help me change my life. As for the comment in my first post about DH wanting me to diet. I think a miss word it because my DH wanted me to take is recommending of food. He does not want me to have to buy LC or WW or HC because we cant afford it. So he want me to do "his diet" as he calls it. Cutting back on the food intake and cutting calories. He calls it the Marcos diet. It has really helped me out because we have no extra money for any special food or exercise clubs. I am doing this lifestyle change for me and only me. You are a great person for bringing this to my attention of how I worded it. Thanks a bunch because people are reading this and probally wondering why I would do this for someone else. You are true and kind. thanks

Yesterday was just o.k. I did go to a passion party :earseek: and snacked a little there. Taco dip is evil.

Breakfast bowl of KIX
lunch ham and provolone sub
snack :earseek: taco dip with chips and 2 deviled eggs
dinner 2 beef tacos DH made me for when I got home these were good because when a real mexican makes them they taste so much better than when I make them with ortega seasoning.

talk to you later smiles kardiebelle

You just gotta love that "real mexican" mexican food! Next time, I am up visiting my mom (lives outside of Kenosha), tell your DH to cook something up and I will be there. :teeth:

I agree with you. It can be really expensive buying all the weight loss brand named food. I just don't do it. The way, I see it is that my habits have to stick around for a long time and I just can't see me eating WW or JC forever once I get to my goal. So like you, everything in moderation and balance. It just seems like it will go further for me in the long run.

Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding in your first post. You really sound like this is what you want, so I know you will be fine.

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Lets see! What to say about yesterday. I did wonderful I found a great workout schedule that fits me. I have been using Walk away the pounds for 2 days now I feel great. I lost 2 more pounds this week. I am reaching my goal very well. I now that the first 10 pounds are the easiest so I am reaching my 10 pound mark and the struggle is really going to come now. The scale is going downward still and I am proud of that.

Breakfast small plate of chorizo con huevos (eggs) scrambled 1 flour tortilla
lunch 1 chicken pot pie
dinner salad with fat free dressing and 1 indian taco (native american)

water 2 liters

I am on my way. I am moving and I am not going to stop now. I am very happy. I did have a scarry night last night. DH works nights in ER for a couple of day so he was gone. I climbed in bed around 11:30 because I exercised and took a quick shower after. Climbed in bed and around 11:45 DS almost 10 months started to breathe weird. Very loud and almost like he has been crying hard for a long time. But he has not been crying so I got out of bed and took my reading light and looked at him he looked fine. I paged DH an he called back and told me to wait it out because he could be in or coming out of a deep sleep. So I left him and waited and then around 12:30 he comletely stopped the noises. I jumped up and looked at him hand he was fine. I had such a hard time sleeping last night though. I had to keep checking on him. He is fine this morning. Glad DH is a Pediatrician I have to admit though I do sometime doubt DH and his ability but he always comes out right.

breakfast lowfat yogurt, bagel with country crock with yogurt spread, and 1 strawberry

Hi, sweetie! Thank you so much for your words of support and encouragement in my journal!
I am THRILLED that you are enjoying the Walk Away the Pounds tape. 2 days in a row is a wonderful achievement! You will be so well conditioned by the time your charity walks come around that you will surprise even yourself!

BTW, I think your estimate of 1000 calories for the chicken parmagiana is right on target. Irresistable, right? I am convinced that when I go to a restaurant, I am going to have to ask for a "to go" box when they bring me my food, and immediately move 1/2 the serving to the box to take home. Otherwise, once I start eating it, I will have no willpower to stop.

So, what is the weather like there? Today, the heat index is about 105 here. If it isn't too warm there, maybe you could start building some outside walking into your schedule every day, so that your kids (especially your little princess) will take increased activity levels into stride (excuse the pun ;)) and it just helps create a healthier lifestyle.

BTW, I thought you did really well at Golden Corral this weekend -- I know the food is pretty good there, so you did pretty well avoiding too much temptation. Did you completely skip dessert? You have more willpower than me!

Keep up the great work!

YES I completely skipped the whole dessert section. I even went up to get the kids dessert and did not grab anyting for me. I did good. The weather is in the upper 70's here but very rainny. I really should go out and walk with the kids more. You are right. We need that. Well thanks for the words too and I will have to remember to get a container right away at olive garden. smiles
