Hmmmmmmm...not long after I posted this link to the Jay Leno message boards they have removed the sticky thread for tonights show - they are either cleaning it up and trying to remove all the negative stuff or maybe they are changing the guest line up for tonight - I'm sure it is the clean up and not the guest change but we can hope

What do you expect on the VMAs? This is MTV we're talking about. All they put out is garbage.

Well that's true... but I wouldn't diminish the deaths and destroyed lives of millions by comparing Hilter actions to that of one pop star insulting another.

The fact is Kanye wanted publicity... he got it. And every single person sitting there calling him names, saying he is classless, comparing him to the most evil people in the history of the world, etc, etc is simply giving him exactly what he wants. The man is on every tweet, newspaper, every news website, every gossip rag, and talk show today... which is what he wanted.

I had vaguely heard of him before and that he was rather obnoxious, but this is the first time his actual ridiculous stunt has penetrated my old fuddy-duddy world and even my friends are talking about it - and not in the way that West would want people talking about .

I emailed Jay Leno's show and told them I was boycotting if Kanye was on. Not just tonights show, but all future shows. And I love Jay Leno and have been looking forward to his new show all summer. And don't tell me Kanye can't be replaced at the last minute. It's Jays first show...he can get anyone in Hollywood on to replace him. Carson used to replace guests at the last minute ALLLL the time. And if they allow Kanye on to give some pathetic apology, thats no good for me either. He has a history of doing this. Remember when OK GO won Best Video of the Year at the European MTV awards? Kanye did the same thing. He stormed the stage and started ranting about how much his video cost to make and OK GO's video (the one with the treadmills) only cost like $6000 so he deserved to win. I hope Kanye's career is done.

He didn't do anything that he hasn't done at multiple award shows in the past. This is what... the third or 4th VMA he's thrown a public hissy fit at, not to mention the Grammy's in 2005, the AMA in 2004 and various european award shows. He had a big backlash all those times as well and especially with his Bush comments post Katrina. But after his last VMA tantrum, he still got a 5 minute spot on the Emmy's out of it (a joke skit about it starring him and featuring his music) and a skit (playing himself) on SNL where he was also brought in as the musical guest, still had a high selling album and sold out tour that year.

IF (and thats a big if) Jay Leno cancels him tonight I would agree with you. But the show films in just a few hours and that hasn't happened yet. More likely he'll pop up in a few places (starting tonight) and give fake apologies, make fun of himself, keep it fresh in everyone's minds just in time for his new tour to go on sale. Because as long as you are talking about it he is in the spotlight and it's not like you were going to buy tickets to his show or shell out $10 bucks to download his album anyways.
