Kanye West is a total.....

All right, look at it this way...

You've worked really hard at your job...REALLY hard.
You're away from family and friends on business travel a lot.
You're young.

There's an award dinner for folks at the business you work for, the customers have voted on their favorite employees of the business.

OMG, you won something! You're going to get recognized by your customers and your peers! You'll get to make a short speech and have a moment in the sun.

Just when you've been handed your award, the self-absorbed blowhard from Accounting vaults up to the stage, grabs the microphone from your hand, and spouts off about how his buddy Susie should have won.

How would you feel?

agnes!

Some of his fans are just blowing it off and saying "Oh that's just Kanye - and he is a marketing genuis" Well I believe he may have taken this one too far. If he has a huge drop after this he has no one to blame but himself.

I never blew it off and I never said I was a fan... I said it was terrible but it was him and based on how he's been in the past I don't expect anything better or different from Kanye. This is how he acts and how markets himself... doesn't mean I find it acceptable, but it no longer surprises me and I no longer think it will hurt his career (in fact based on his past success' it wouldn't surprise me a bit if it helped it).

And if you note everything I said so far has come absolutely true. I said it would get him more publicity... which it did. Rather than just rapping, he got to rap and be interviewed (all the negative backlash got him that interview), he is still on every paper and gossip site, you all are still talking about him, etc. I said he would find some way to tie it back to theme of his new concert tour announced the day before the VMA's, which he did. His concert theme is Fame Kills, going to be "performance art" about how fame is destroying him. What did he say to Jay last night "so many celebrities never take the time off and I've never taken the time off, and I allowed my hurt..." He is setting up the character of the destroyed celebrity, the same way Lady Gaga, if you read about her VMA exploits, was doing (they are starring in the tour together). In his own words he said he realized right afterwards that this time it wasn't just a spectacle, which to me shows he was thinking it would be just that, a spectacle. It wasn't about Beyonce deserving it at all, it was about Kanye creating a scene, getting attention, which he got. His apology was no more than he's done in the past and I wouldn't put it past him to have asked Jay to ask him what his mom would say because that might get some sympathy back over to him and give him an "out" as a hurt, grieving son.

I give it a few weeks and he will turn into the self-depricating joking Kanye who will laugh at how stupid he was, showing up on SNL or MTV or somewhere mocking himself... keeping this in the public just in time for his tour tickets to go on sale. After that he'll be back to conceited Kanye. If you look at his past, it's simply his pattern.

You can keep believing this will make him go down, but as long as you guys are talking about it, watching the interviews, and keeping this story going, you are giving him exactly what he wants... letting him build himself into the celebrity destroyed by his own fame, a hurt man, a grieving son... a man who now has a concert tour exploiting all of that. I am too cynical to think that his core fanbase will abandon him now after everything else they've put up with from him over the years.

Taylor Swift is on the View & stated Kanye West hasn't even reached out to her.

What a dirtbag!

He is a pathetic excuse for a man. He is a megalomaniac, narcissistic, whiny crybaby who throws a tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants. I had zero respect for him before and now that has lowered to the negative numbers.

I just wish he would do the world a favor and fall off a cliff or something. :sad2:

And Whoopie got in a good one about "hopefully Kanye will see this and then he'll know what to do" She didn't add much to the conversation- I wonder if he's a friend of hers.....

That was THE biggest ACT in the whole wide world. :headache: To sit there and look all sad and emotional. ACTING. One HUGE act. :headache:

DS, who does like some rap etc said that JayZ probably spent the day YELLING at KW as JayZ's new album was to release today and KW (as you saw) was singing on at least 2 songs.

Ya, if KW was the least emotional at all it was ONLY because his mentor/hero is JayZ and JayZ probably told KW he let him down HUGE with his actions on Sunday night. :furious:

Me either! But I'd bet anything that the audience was given strict instructions NOT to boo.

I guess they'll need another rule about not going up on the stage unless you are supposed to be there!

He was wrong for what he did. He can't take it back, can't change it. So, he apologizes, and now he is wrong for that. What exactly would you have him to do?

What he did was stupid and mean. But, what's done is done. All he can do is apologize and he is getting raked for that too.

who cares if Beyonce is better? That doesn't matter AT ALL. Taylor Swift was given the award...period. Right or wrong, Kayne had no business going up on stage, taking the microphone from her hand, and telling her (and the 'world') that she had no business being up there.

If Kanye wanted to say Beyonce was better, I'm sure there was an after party and a whole slew of paparazzi that he could have spoken too.

Perez Hilton was sitting in the front row. Kayne could have given him an exclusive. The guy is a sidekick addict, he could have posted it from the show.

Beyonce's performance at the VMAs was good (and I've seen her live where she absolutely stunk!) but it wasn't about her performance, it was about the video she produced that year. A video that IMO isn't the 'best of the decade.'

And they are bogus MTV video awards, we aren't talking the Grammys here. I loved that Kelly Clarkson said that if it was so important to him, that he could have hers! And she was up against Swift and Beyonce.

It is ok if you agree with his opinion however what is not ok is how he stated his opinion and what he did to Taylor. If he would have waited until after the show and spouted off his opinion to the press then people prob would have handled it much better because he is entitled to his opinion. However he is NOT entitled to jump on stage and basically bully this young girl who won this award because she had the majority of the votes and take away her moment. He is nothing but an arrogant COWARD!!! He would have NEVER have pulled this stunt on Pink or Lady Gaga because he knows he would have gotten his butt kicked. Some of his fans are just blowing it off and saying "Oh that's just Kanye - and he is a marketing genuis" Well I believe he may have taken this one too far. If he has a huge drop after this he has no one to blame but himself.

He had an opinion, which he's certainly entitled to. But he absolutely did everything wrong while attempting to 'share' (or force) his opinion with the world that night. And in his typical selfish, self-absorbed way, he ruined a very special moment for Taylor Swift.

It's perfectly fine for him to believe that Beyonce deserved the award, but he should have chosen a more appropriate way to share it. :rolleyes1

As far as I understand it, the award wasn't about best singing or performance. It was based on music video, correct? And Beyonce's music video wasn't anything inventive, in my opinion. Certainly nothing groundbreaking. Just the same old shake, shake, shake...

Regardless, it is never appropriate to make such a statement. If he had waited until after the awards ceremony and issued that statement to a reporter, I would have been just as disgusted. It's tacky, plain and simple.

I am pretty sure I said that he could have done this in a different venue/time.

Don't know if you took a look at the ABC news article I posted, but he has a LONG history of doing this. And specifically, this is not the first time he took the mic away from the winners to promote himself or his opinion.

He's an idiot. And he clearly hasn't learned a lesson from his many past mistakes (all of which he quasi-apologized for) so the apology isn't worth squat. And now he pretends to shed a tear when Leno asks him what his mom would think. Puleeeezzzzzzzzzz...........

Exactly....what he issued was not much of an apology. What I expect of him (and the only thing that would change my mind about him) is a REAL apology with meaning behind it and proving that he means it by not acting this way in the future.

For one, he could really apologize.

He said last night he wished he could apologize to Taylor Swift in person.

Well, he has had over 36 hours to pick up the phone and call Taylor Swift and apologize. But as of this morning's appearance on the View, he has not reached out to her at all.

To me that shows that a complete lack of sincerity and that his faked tearful appearance last night was nothing more than show for his own narcissistic benefit.

:thumbsup2

A previous poster said that Taylor told the ladies on the View that he never even reached out to her to apologize. Yeah, he's sorry alright.

I hope that MTV finally learns THEIR lesson and stops inviting this dope to their shows. While I'm reasonably sure that MTV isn't exactly hating the attention, they should also recognize that America doesn't want to see him at these things anymore.

There are many who do like seeing him. I wouldn't have a problem if he just sat in teh audience like everyone else. I think MTV (and any awards show) needs to take these celebr-idiots to task and give anyone who makes a scene, THE BOOT.
