Kansas votes to keep its children ignorant...

So teach evolution in science and implement the religious aspect in social studies. Sounds like a good compromise to me.

Great minds think alike! :)

Or send your child to a private school where they can study your religion.

Do you have a problem with kids in school learning about the world religions?

You know, people really ARE mose close-minded these days!

Every school I went to already does that... My Social Studies class sruddied 5 major religions.Christianity,,Judaism,Islam,Buddhism and Hunduism..I have no qualms with that. You can't ever teach or understand history without having a basic grasp of world religions.I don't think people object that..They object to teaching creationism in a science class

I have no trouble understand anything you say.

Compromise: teach about intelligent design in social studies class as part of the world religions.

Why is it called the theory of evolutions? Aren't fact/theory different?
We knoew evoloution happens we just don't know exactly how...Yes,fact and theory are different.

Not at all. I have a problem when a public school feels the need to teach religion during a science class, like I've said in about fifty other posts on this thread.

wow, our schools are terrible!!

Actaully on this thread certain posters seem to feel anything religious should be confined to private schools.

You know, funny thing. My 6th grader learned about the developments of 3 major religions in school last year..Christianity,Judaism and Islam...At the bottom of the page there were*Hints to learn more*..The section about Christianity said "For more info read the NT"..The Jewish and Muslim sections didn't Say "for more info read the Torah or the Q'uoran"

Ok.

So evolution, the process, is a fact. Yes I believe that. Look at the Eskimos, they have more fat in their face for the cold climates.

But the issue is how evolution began?? Are there any FACTS about how evolution began??

Evolution is a scientific FACT. The process of evolution is what the theory is about. Evolution has been observed, its existence isn't questioned by scientists, but the "how" of evolution isn't fully clear to them.

Of course, we're still evolving. I don't think anyone denies that. You can't prove however that man stemmed from nothing simply because he could. IMO, the theory of evolution (not our evolving process) is absurd and there is nothing of proof to say it's how we came to be. When the scientific community can do that (I'm not holding my breath), we can drop the whole God/Religion bit. Till then however, who is anyone to say one is more correct than the other even if you don't consider it science.

All my use of the word "YOU" is in the generic sense only. Every time I've used it, it wasn't meaning the 'you' that I quote, so I hope no one takes my responses personally.

Free, you're barking up the wrong tree with me.Personally I believe G-d created us by setting evoloution in place..I have no issues with that and have said so to my children..Until my belief on that has undergone scientific method it should be left out of science class.

I stand corrected. You said, to learn YOUR religion. But then again I never said N.Baily say anything about learning HER religion. But this is going nowhere. It is fun though.

For the record, I agree with the Catholic Church's stance on this (i started a thread about it yesterday).

I disagree with teaching it in a public school science class. :)

I would also add I find it a little presumptions of non Christians to constantly tell Christians they have no place!!! Christians have absolutely no belief in the theory of evolution (which has NOT been proven - thus the name THEORY), yet none of us raise heck to get it pulled out of our schools even though it goes against everything we believe in. Perhaps it's the non Christians who should start sending their kids and paying to send their kids to secular schools. Why in the world does your belief trump mine?

Why do my kids (though I enjoyed it) have to study the Muslim religion in school, yet Christianity can't be taught? I find it quite ironic that instead of replying that you didn't feel ANY religion should be taught in school, no matter what the religion, instead you feel I should have to fork over $5000 a year to send my kids to a Christian school. I suppose you don't see the hypocrisy in what you're saying, but some of us see crystal clear.

Why don't they just teach about the process of evolution.

And then just say the truth is no one knows HOW evolution started. There are many theories including the Big Bang and creationism and if you want to learn more, the library is located in Room ____.
