How many of you get snow at your place in Winter??

We don't even get a hint of snow here, not even very cold weather, so was wondering how many of you guys actually get to see the stuff for real every winter:)

We usually get about 3-7 inches total a year. Some years virtually none and others over a foot total (this is for all of winter though). We do get the cold but not much snow.

No hints of snow where we live either, and that is PERFECT for me! :)

If we want snow in winter we can drive two hours to the mountains. But here in lovely Southern California we don't get snow. Thankfully. :)

We always get some snow. Sometimes more than other winters. I love it as long as no one has to get out in it. The snow we get here in East Tennessee is usually wet and sticky, not dry and powdery, and gets slippery very very fast.

Has anyone ever been snowed in:D

I rekcon that would be so cool & so much fun.....would love to experience it just once in my lifetime:D :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Trust me, sweetie, it is not cool to be snowed in...

We get plenty of snow every winter in my part of Michigan :(

Nutsy, when we had the BLIZZARD OF '78 in Boston, approx. 60" of snow were deposited over 48 hours.Virtually all businesses and roads were closed for 7 days during a city-wide emergency. It was difficult getting patients and medical personnel to our hospitals. It was almost impossible to get foodstuffs to supermarkets. The National Guard was called in to prevent looting. We survived, primarily by neighbor helping neighbor :D :D .........

We were snowed in two years ago. Dh couldn't go to work for 3 days.

About 17 years ago we had an ice storm that knocked out power for a week! :(

Hey this is so interesting you guys.

We never see snow here & have always thought how fun it would be to experience it for real & to actually get snowed in.

Guess it's not that much fun afterall. I had no idea it could be so bad. Eros that sounds terrible what you guys went through, that's a lot of snow too.

Well, I've learnt something from this thread anyway, that snow is nice, but it is also quite a pain as well.

We were very fortunate to be able to see snow while we were up in Alaska just recently, had to travel an hour & a half out of Anchorage to see it, but it was so beautiful & to actually drive in it & walk & play in it was so increcible. :D

Thanks for sharing your experiences guys.;)

We usually get a few inches here but it goes away quickly. The worst part of winter is the relentless wind. Our wind chill can be downright nasty.

When I was a kid we lived in New Hampshire for a year. A beautiful state but we had a really bad winter. It was hard to get to anywhere and SO cold. We used to dig out as best we could but my mother remembers seeing my boots going by at the TOP of her high windows. Yuck!

There is really nothing fun about being snowed in. It snowed today, Kath, did you get any?

yup - we do get snow every winter, although not a lot of it.

where i grew up the average snowfall was something like 155 inches/winter. LOL we were snowed in once that i can remember and as a kid i thought it was great fun, though i am sure as an adult it would be a hassle. my sister and i got to ski and sled down major streets b/c they were all closed. that was pretty neat....that and no school! :p

We get quite a bit of snow here every winter. Today there were some flurries blowing around already.
I have been snowed in and it's not even a little bit fun:(

I see very little snow. When it does, it's just mush.:( And it's awful when they predict we might see a dusting of snow. People go beserk around here (buying milk/bread at ALL the stores), filling up their cars with gas. Chaos is a good word for snow around here.;)

I love snow.:(

Once. I was 9 months pregnant with my dd. No water (frozen), no electricity (power lines got knocked down, then the power company forgot to turn the power on on my road:rolleyes: They got severl hysterical phone calls from a VERY pregnant woman about that;) ). I had a kerosene heater to cook/heat with, a deck of cards (I'm a champion solitaire player), my phone, and an absent SO (he was afraid he'd have to deliver if I went into labor:rolleyes: He was here at night, but stayed as far away from me as he could during the day:rolleyes: ). This lasted for about 10 days or so. I never stepped out of the front door the whole time. We had 3-4 feet of snow. Usually we do well having an inch of snow here.

Nutsy, Chicago is well known for getting a lot of snow usually. I think New York gets more though.

No, you don't want to be snowed in, it's a helpless feeling, even with pre-weather warnings. It once took me 2 days to shovel 4 ft. drifts onto 6 ft. drifts just to get from my SIDE door to the garage door (there was just no where to shovel the stuff to!). Only to find that the garage door was snowed in with 6-7 ft. drifts also. :( A few, clean inches is managable and, fun for the kids but, I'm a snow-widow and, it's tough sometimes. :(

Speaking of snow widow, DH is working Sat. just to mount the plows on the City's trucks where he works. I fear it's inevitable. :(

We average about 40 inches of snow here a year. Something like that. It usually comes a couple of inches at a time. But we have been snowed in as well.
I don't know that I would miss snow if I were to never see it again.
