Just won a trip! Upgrading?

We just won a trip to Disneyland on the radio! Does anyone have experience on upgrading tickets they have won to annual passes? We haven't had AP's for a couple of years, but we were hoping to upgrade these if we can. Any advice would be appreciated!

Wow! Congratulations! I don't have any experience but just wanted to congratulate you. I always hear those commercials on my local radio stations but have never tried calling in as I figure it's such a long shot. How cool!

Many times passes won in such contests are comp passes and have no upgrade value. It never hurts to ask, but I wouldn't go expecting them to have value. Congratulations on winning the contest though!

When I won tix, they said they have no monetary value and were not upgradeable.

Congrats! I won a trip to Disney's Aulani on the radio a couple of weeks ago!
As far as tickets, I've won many, many, many Disneyland tickets on the radio over the years and sadly, they are NOT upgradable. You'll see when you get them that they will specifically say on the back that they have a zero value, are not transferable and not upgradable. Sorry. : (
But have a lot of fun! Where are they putting you up? Disneyland Hotel? Grand Californian?
How exciting! Can't wait to arrange my Free trip as well. Congrats again!

Thanks for the quick replies! We will enjoy them even with no upgrade. They are supposed to call us in a week with the details but it is three days and two nights at a DLR Hotel for four. I just can't believe it happened to us. It's a real treat for us a we are usually Hojo discount rate travelers. I just don't think that three days will be enough so I guess we will have to see about getting some additional tickets - if we are driving 11 hours with small children I think we should spend five or so days there. My Disney math says that anything less would not make sense.

Thanks again for the info. The planner in me is going crazy having to wait a week to get the details.

Congrats on winning! If you will be doing 5-6 park days total, make sure you also price out buying a 5 or 6 day ticket for two of your family and letting the other two use two sets of the comp tickets. It may save you some money. Have a great trip!

Congratulations!!! I won a trip earlier in the year. We're leaving this weekend. We're staying 4 nights at another hotel as we wanted more time in the area. Instead of trying to upgrade the Disney tickets, we are doing other activities like Sea World & the beach. We are however going to the Halloween Party just because it's that time of year. Otherwise we'd do something like Knotts Berry or Medieval Times. There's so much to do down there that it's possible to make a very full trip without everything being DL.

Oh, another tip, have in mind the dates you want to go and make the reservation ASAP. I made it as soon as I have the paperwork from Disney. It takes about a month or so to get all of the paperwork as the radio station has quite a bit to do to get it all going and over to Disney.

I won one of the One More Disney Day Trips (we leave on Sat) From what I have found out (from others who have also won) if you are going to DL the tickets are NOT able to upgrade. For us if we would have chose WDW we could have used them to upgrade.

We got 5 day park hoppers, and decided to go a 6th day to the party.

We were able to extend our hotel days at a reduced rate, however it was much cheaper for us to book at the gay days rate instead - we chose GCH and now will be there 7 nights

We won a 4 day/3 night to WDW on the radio several years ago. We couldn't upgrade what they gave us but we could add on and stay longer which we did. We had r/t airfare included in ours and they put us in a deluxe resort. It was just awesome as we would never have stayed in a deluxe otherwise.
