DH and I went out last night and bought a digital camera. I am pretty excited. Never thought we would do it, but my 35mm is puking slowly and DH wants to use the digial for work. I can see the advantages of being able to print whenever you want verses when your roll is complete.

Any advice. Am I going to like it or tolerate it??

I didn't think I'd like it, but I LOVE it. We get over 500 photos on the card and there's no "cost" to print them out (other than paper and ink). Plus I can print only what I want and if I take a crappy photo I just delete it -- rather than pay to have it developed and THEN find out it's bad.

YOu sound like me! I went Digital last year with lots of resistance! And now I couldn't go back to 35 MM! (I do still us it some for low light or action stuff that I dont' think my digital will do well with)
My advice to you is use it ALOT! I mean take tons of pictures or anything! Take pictures of moving objects, take pictures in low light bright light. Play with it alot! You have nothing to loose!
Once you get use to the lag time it is wonderful! I love it cause I take pictures of some many things now that I normally wouldn't do with film. !
Enjoy!
Oh and make sure you get rechargeable batteries!

I LOVE digital. In fact, I've taken the best photos of my life with my digital camera. The instant gratification of knowing you got a great shot is worth it!

We did buy rechargables and a charger. Plus we got a larger card. I think it holds 200 pictures???? For an extra $5 it was worth getting twice the amount of pictures on one card.

Also, I've really noticed quite a drop in the price of cards recently. The 256MB for my camera was $98 last month and this month it's $78. Hopefully, the prices will continue to drop.

The best way to get cheap digital card is to check out the Sunday ads! Especially around any holiday! Many times they have them with great rebates! You do have to put the money up front but then you get it back in about 4-8 weeks!
So check Staples, Comp USA, etc....

Another one who thought they would NEVER go digital - I loved my 35mm and Advantix but I recently made the switch and I'm so glad that I did. We got the Canon A75 and it's wonderful. The pictures are so great - I had no idea the quality would be so noticably better. I picked up the largest card they had 516 (? I think) it was around $70.00 I think and then the camera also came with a smaller card. I can't believe how many more pictures I take now. I think you will really enjoy it.
