Just Venting-My DH backed out!

We have been looking for someplace to go for a long weekend that we have coming up. Well I called HH and was able to get the 2BR Disney Visa rate. At first my hubby was all gung ho! He said get the 2 BR even though there are only 4 of us because it is only a tiny bit more than getting a studio. He said that it would be fun and he knew how much I have always wanted to try DVC at HH and now we don't have to use our points! However, suddenly he has changed his mind He says the drive is too far, blah, blah, blah! I guess I will have to wait until January now to get my DVC fix. Maybe I can sneak away for the weekend without him

I'm so sorry you can't make your HH trip. I know that Disney Visa offer is even better than the 25% discount member rate. We had to cancel our Disney cruise because DH didn't want to go, so I can feel your pain! Have a great trip in January!

My DH knows I have a little "problem" as far as Disney goes, and that if a trip is ever "contemplated" then by golly, we go!

Make sure your hubby knows you have an ADDICTION, sort of like a medical thing, and he can never pull this nonsense again! Tell him that for medical reasons, planned trips can NOT be cancelled.

Hang in there... Your next trip will come eventually!

Medical reasons....I LOVE that idea!!!!! But I never have a problem getting DH to go, he is as crazy as I am about it. A two bedroom would have been so sweet however!!!! i am still dreaming of that!!!

my dh has finally come around to the dark side with me.. last week he was the one who said "when are we going to disney next year?" hee hee hee... got him!

I'm sorry to hear you won't be getting to make your HHI trip. We just returned from using the Disney Visa discount there, and we had a blast. It's a gorgeous resort, and so relaxing. You think it would work if you convinced him that you can barely even stay at the Holiday Inn down the road for $99?

Good luck! The good thing is you know since you are DVC members, that you'll be able to return to these resorts for a long time to come.

Ha! I think I figured out his problem! His problem is that he can't stay at a disney resort unless it is at Disney! This morning he said, "if we are going to spend 12 hours driving to HHI we might as well just spend another 5 hours in the car and go to WDW!" So are we nuts to drive that long for 3 nights? Fortunately I will have the following day off to recoup! He once got a last minute urge to go over Labor Day weekend and we left on a Friday night and went to the parks on Saturday night and Sunday and came home on Monday. Now that was a looonnnnnnnnggggggggggg short trip. Am I crazy to do it again? Do any of you otehr DVCer's do this?

I wouldn't drive that far, either 12 hours or 17, just for a 3 day trip. I'd either fly or look to somewhere else. I'm not sure where you are but there may be other place far closer for a few days. Good luck, I hope ti works out.

I can't say that I disagree with you at all. I have been looking for weeks for someplace close to home (in Ohio). We thought about visiting the Great Bear Lodge again and have found a $150 a night discount. However, it is hard to go to since our kids are young still and I don't care for the toddler area. I have tried to convince hubby to go to Cincinnatti or Niagara Falls, but then of course his philosophy is disney is cheaper! Can you believe that! We have AP's and if they have DVC rooms available we won't have to worry about the room. If not, I checked and with the AP we can get $50 a night at AS. Or course, I explain that we need gas for the SUV both ways which is costly, food, and a new Disney sweatshirt! Also, I am getting too old to travel so far for such a short time! However, he will probably talk me into it!

Very long drive for such a short stay. How about Southwest flight with Towncar to/from airport?

We have done short 3 night trips, but only flying.

Then again you might drive to HH for the first night and you never know about those pesky SUVs -- could refuse to start again for two or three days

We just came back this morning from Disney by driving. It takes us 16 to 17 hours. Although I don't mind the drive, I could never do it for just three nights!!!! Do you plan on driving straight through because that would really wipe me out. On the way down we do one long day followed by a short second day and end up at Disney mid-day. We do drive straight through on the way home but then we have all day to recover and unpack. For three days I would fly or go somewhere else closer!!!!

12 hours is a long drive for just 3 days!!! I do love HH though but I'm only 3.5 hours away. I'm sorry you can't go.

We are as crazy as you! We've done the 16 hr drive 2 or 3 times for only a 3 night trip! Sometimes you just get the urge for a long weekend like that! I am fighting it right now. We have a 3 day weekend coming up & thought about HH on the visa deal, but just like your husband, mine said if we are going to go 12 hrs, may as well go to WDW! We most always drive (from OH) because I do not do well on planes! A 3 day trip is better than none! I would go for it!
