Just tried for a 2BR on Dec. 2, and...

I just tried to book a 2BR on 12-2 to 12-8 and am waitlisted. Also waitlisted for the next week, also at BWV.

My questions are: Why is that so popular?

Do you think it will be available in a while?

What are my chances of getting a different resort, like OKW or SSR at the 7 month date?

Are all resorts going to be that crowded?

Early December is a very popular time for DVC members to visit. The point costs for the rooms are at their lowest, the holiday decorations are up, the parks aren't very busy and the weather is usually pretty decent. It's a good idea to book right at the 11-month window for that time of year. But some people's plans do change so I think you have a good chance on the wait list, especially if you aren't trying for rooms that are limited such as Standard View at BWV or Concierge or Value rooms at AKV.

So what are my chances of getting OKW Friday November 28- Saturday December 6th in a 2 bedroom at the 7 month window? I already have SSR booked but we are thinking it might be better to do OKW for the space as it will be Me, DH, DD (12), DS(9) & DH's parents. The day we arrive is the day after Thanksgiving. Do you think we will have to wait list it? Or is the space difference not really that big of a deal?

I think its actually more popular. The prime period is a little shorter, October can still be really hot - and Northerners aren't excited to get out of the 60 degree weather at home, and the points are even cheaper in December. Plus, that period often sells out completely before the seven month window even opens, where at least with F&W there are usually some preferred views available right at seven months.

I've gone several times the first week of December at BWV and always did day by day at 11 months for either standard or boardwalk view. It's a great time to go!

5. Weather is nice (and warmer than home).

Don't give up. Last year, we were able to get relatively last minute ressies using the wait list during the 2nd week of Dec.

Another avenue might be to wait list for all the resorts, if you don't have any preference as to where you will stay. SSR may have some added inventory as more units open. (I don't know when the new AKL units are scheduled to open, but maybe they will have some added inventory--it never hurts to waitlist).

At the 7 month mark, there may be some movement on the wait list as folks swap around resorts.

I may have missed which resort it was you were looking at, but waitlisting at the larger resorts will probably be the best way to get something in the long run. We were at OKW last Thanksgiving and the week after. It was full to capacity most of the time with the exception of the Monday and Tuesday before THanksgiving.

I think the OP has BWV points and is only waitlisted at BWV. The 7 month window for December isn't open yet.

FWIW, I would be very surprised if either OKW or SSR were already sold out for that week, even though it is so popular.
