Part 3

Got up and out the door around 9am. Went down to Spoodles for breakfast. Decided to go downtown to shop for some gifts. Had a pretty long wait for the bus, guess not too many people go downtown this early. Skies are looking a tad threatening.

While we shopped in the big Disney store, the skies opened up. By the time we were ready to leave, it had all but stopped. That was the only rain our entire trip except for some sprinkle while we were in Savannah.

After shopping Marie stopped at a Vacation Club kiosk "just to ask for information". I tried to run but I was lassoed and hog tied. Next stop was Saratoga Springs to get the soft sell and tour the rooms. We'd been through this before back when they first started selling the time shares. Marie thinks it'll be great for Sarah when she has her own family. I say when Sarah is finished with school she'll be making a lot of money and can buy her own. She still has a year and a half to go plus grad school, in Ivy League dollars.

Three hours later, after "No, we can't afford it" finally sank in, I was released. The only good thing was that we got a free lunch voucher for our time. They had a van take us back to Boardwalk and we walked over to Beaches & Cream. Yum.

The weatherman had said it was going to get cooler as the day went on so we went back to the room so Marie could put on long pants, I was going to rough it. After all, this is Florida, how cold can it get?

Went over to EPCOT to the Big Ball, The Land and I don't remember what else. We hadn't seen a parade at the Magic Kingdom in a long time so we decided that today was the day. Hopped on the monorail and were whisked away. Still couldn't find that darn brick. Pretty crowded again. Did a few rides and guess what, the weatherman hadn't lied, it was getting downright chilly. Disney did a banner business selling sweatshirts that night, Marie included.

We noticed that by 7pm people were already staking out their spots for the 9pm parade. That's sick. By 7:30 it was apparent that if we didn't get a spot Marie wasn't going to see the parade, she's a little short. There were people sitting on the curb and then we were right behind them. I sat on the ground and believe it or not a mother behind me urged her two kids to squeeze into the six square inches I had left in front of me. I mean, I would have let the kids in front of me when the parade started. That was just the start, when the parade did start the woman on my left and I made a little space so two other little ones could see. Before you know it, the mother and four other kids are all crowding in, the mother being the most obnoxious. At one point Marie leaned over and whispered that she could feel the heartbeat of the guy behind her we were so packed in. I told her she had better hope the parade didn't excite him too much. Never again for me, I can't believe people can be so rude.

After the parade, it was gridlock on Main St.. We hadn't eaten since lunch but weren't all that hungry so we just grabbed some hotdogs and waited for the fireworks. Enjoyed the show, might be better than Illuminations.

The park was open for another hour after the fireworks so there was no mad exodus at the end of the show. Caught the bus and went home. Again, no night life for us old folks.

Next morning I went down to the lounge for cereal, juice and coffee. Called and made reservations for lunch at the Rose and Crown and dinner at Alfredo's. Looks like we're going to EPCOT again. Spent the day doing whatever we felt like, ate and drank too much again. Watched the street shows, watched the films in some of the countries, watched the people, we could spend days just doing this. Wait a minute, I think we already have. Went back to the room to shower and change at some point and then went back for more. I think this was the night the Beach Boys were there, could have been two nights ago, the point being that they drew a huge crowd, people were lined up for half a mile.

Had a good dinner and then more fireworks. Have to go home and pack now, checking out in the morning.

Had breakfast from the lounge again, shorter walk than the bakery. Then we had the bags collected and put in storage. Our last meal in Disney, where lunch or dinner is always in France. We made a reservation for noon and headed over to EPCOT around 11am. Had a good lunch with another nice waiter, this one loved to talk while also struggling with the language a bit.

Made one last circuit around the lagoon and then left. See you again in June.

Checked in at Royal Pacific and spent most of the afternoon watching football. Had dinner at Emeril's Tchop Chop. Enjoyed it.

Went to St. Augustine next and then moved on to Savannah. This was the first time we had visited Savannah and really liked it. Did a couple tours and had some good meals.

Now it's back to the daily grind. Oh well, only eight short months till the next time.

Bye - Bye
