It has been said that Disney can be a grueling vacation, and the constant activity is starting to affect us. Each morning has been increasingly difficult to get out of bed early, although we have been sticking to the plan so far. We have also both managed to catch colds at the same time causing us to sniffle and sneeze our way through the parks. Should have packed that antibacterial hand lotion! Even though we both enjoyed our day at MK, there were definitely moments when we had to drag ourselves to the next attraction.
Our day at MK featured a number of personal firsts. Despite two prior trips as a youth, I had never experienced any of the mountains because I was a wuss. Not this time! I rode and loved all three of them! The handrails on Splash Mountain are disgusting. I made the mistake of touching them and got stinky mold all over my hands. We saw the rehabbed Hall of Presidents featuring George W. Bush, who has a very nice speech about all races living in harmony. We exited HOP right before 3:00 in a perfect parade viewing location. Share a Dream Come True was our favorite of the three new parades we managed to see this week. Lines were short all day. Our longest posted wait was 35 minutes for the Jungle Cruise (in reality closer to 20 min). We found it strange that FastPass was not operating for the Jungle Cruise, but the FastPass machines were working for rides with shorter standby lines. I wonder how they determine when to run FastPass since there didn't appear to be an obvious logic to it.
The highlight of our day was completely unexpected. We got to meet Mickey! While taking a casual stroll through ToonTown Fair around 5:30pm we noticed that there was hardly any line to meet Mickey. 15 minutes later we had our picture taken with him. Yes, we are both adults pushing 30 years old and it sounds totally lame, but meeting the mouse was still as thrilling as ever, especially for DW who always dreamed of coming to Disney but never made it until now.
After our day at the park we decided to try a "local" restaurant for dinner. Numero Uno Cuban Restaurant near downtown Orlando was recommended in the UG, so we decided to check it out. The food was excellent, and this comes from a guy who was raised on my grandparents' Cuban cooking!
Tomorrow, our final WDW experience before driving south to see relatives: Disney/MGM Studios!
