I know there are 1,000's of happy Marriott owners.
-------------

Without exaggeration, I would estimate that a solid 75% to 80% of Marriott owners are extremely unhappy and disallusioned with Marriott since the new program was introduced on June 20th.
Just yesterday, a TUGGER opened a new post requesting a new poll be starting to compare Marriott owners satisfactioon level since the release of the new system. Believe it or not, this thread was immediately CLOSED! Marriott has a huge public relations disaster on their hands at the moment as the result of their owner's anger, confusion and frustration - I'm sure that last thing Marriott wants right now is a poll which clearly reflect's this feeling of betrayal by so many owners.
Marriott adandoned it's customer base when they stopped exercising ROFR (in conjuction with their new strategy) and the value of Marriott timeshares has plumetted as a result - they're worth a fraction of their original cost on e-bay right now. Of course Marriott's lawyer's covered all their bases - You can't buy a Marriott resale and then convert it to points after June 20th because Marriott has forbidden that also, that's why the resale value of Marriott timeshares is practically worthless the moment you purchase it now. And if you ask what their new policy is regarding resale of purchases in the new points program, their answer is "we haven't come up with a policy or decision regarding future resales yet." And they're expecting you to spend thousands of dollars in their new program with that kind of arrogance toward their customers needs???? I'm sure it's hard to believe but that's exactly their policy at the moment. Someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong - I'd greatly prefer to be wrong on any other these very upsetting issues.
Yes, I'm the first to admit that the new program provides some added flexibilty for customers that have at least 6,500 points to qualify as a Premier member entitled to the 13 month booking window advantage. But are you prepared to spend approximately $65,000 to purchase 6,500 points??? And keep in mind that Marriott's new program provides them with complete control, so they could easily raise the Premier level as much as they want as often as they want forcing you to continuously pruchase more points in order to maintain your 13 month priority.
I'm also looking forward to Dean's response because I also consider him to be an expereienced and trusted mentor - but I doubt very much that even the very logical, emotionally nuetral and unbiased Dean can contest that the vast majority of current Marriott owners are far from happy. If they disregarded the vast majority of their customer base of 400,000 existing owners once, what's stopping them from eventually screwing the new points owners also - especially since the new deck is completely stacked in their favor?
Marriott built it success based on customer satisfaction and reputation, but it was completely replaced by greed with the introduction of the new program. Like the thousands of Marriott customer's you referenced, I was a VERY happy and satisfied Marriott owner - but that all changed completely on June 20th. Yes, I'm still very emotionally upset 2 weeks after the initial shock and I haven't been able to come to terms with my anger yet - but unfortunately I'm surrounded by thousands of Marriott owners that feel the exact same way! And I realize that Marriott did not intentionally intend to screw owners, they simply intended to find new ways to expand profits - but existing owners got screwed as a result - and that's not a great way to attempt expanding profits! Also keep in mind this is just my opinion, so please continue to investigate Marriott along with your other options including future DVC contracts. Thank God for my DVC!!!
Best wishes,
David
