I started selling my DS Baby Einstien DVDs on Amazon. I cannot belive how easy this was. I sold 4 separate DVDs for a profit of about $41. More money for Disney. :cool1:

WOW! What did you get, like $10 apiece??

i sell on amazon all the time. being im STILL looking for a part time job (sitting around this summer people think im lazy and im not!) i sold some of the first gamecube games i got that ive beat 10 times over, i sell my textbooks on there because i get more there than at my campus or on ecampus.com, i sell books and pc games and my mom gives me stuff to sell and i get to keep the cash. Putting a little money in for shipping is ok, the frequent trips to the post office can be a pain but ive made a few hundred on there already. LOVE selling through them.

They sold for between $10.99 and $12.99 each (Amazon gives me $1.84 for shipping, which covers it, minus the envelope) and takes $2.64 for commission.

And the money goes right into my Checking Account, no waiting.

The great thing about it is that you do not have to use your own picture or detail (I just rate them gently used or like new) and they have sold in less then a week.

My Dh just finished his MBA maybe I could sell his books, and we have about 300 CDs laying around. I may have to branch out in selling.

BTW, do you have a scale, I saw one at Sam's Club today, but I may wait to see it I sell enough to warrants the purchase.

Is it nicer to deal with Amazon than it is with Ebay? Does it matter how they pay?

I have never sold on Ebay, the Baby Einstien DVDs were going for around $5 and I am not digitialy (sp) savy. So I thought Amazon was easier to get started. And I believe that they pay with a credit card, my money is in my account every month. The first one took a while they had to verify my account, but I had just set that one up at the bank.

With Amazon, it's not an auction you set a fixed price for your item. Also, its not like an ebay listing where the maximum length is 10 days, Amazon retains the listing for 60 days and there are no charges if the item does not sell. You also get an e-mail when the listing expires and you have the opportunity to review and relist again at no charge.
What I do, I check Amazon.com first for the item I want to list, I make sure it is worth my time and I will yield enough profit, some major novels are printed in such high quantities that some sellers are just about giving them away. Then I check Half.com, and finally eBay.
If all three sites prove to me that I have a dud, I sell it at our annual garage sale.
I feel that you have the opportunity to sell you item quickly and more profitably on Amazon. I sell books, CD's, and some DVD & Videos on Amazon.

Wow, that's great. I tried to sell kid's DVDs on Ebay and they did not sell. Ended up selling a lot of them at my garage sale. (For a fraction of the cost!)

so would people say it's not as complicated as ebay, because I would love to start selling some old cd's and books, etc, but I just feel like Ebay is a pain. How much do they take from each item sold?? Any advice or tips would be awesome! :rolleyes1

:wave2:

I have made hundreds of dollars selling old video games, textbooks, etc. on Amazon. It is a breeze!! No pictures to take or descriptions to write like with EBay. You set the price (no auction involved). Money goes right to your checking account. Very easy process!

I also feel Ebay is complicated. All I did was researched on Amazon what I wanted to sell, so I put in Baby Noah DVD, it came up and at the bottom right it asks Sell yours I clicked on that, set up a sellers account, set my price and was done with it.

They send me an email when it sells and I send it out in two business days. They take about $2.64 commission, but I get $1.84 shipping credit.

I hope I explained this right, maybe someone more experienced has some more input.

Thanks so much for the info!! I listed a bunch of stuff today! We'll see how they do. It certainly is a lot easier than Ebay and doesn't cost anything if it doesn't sell!!! :flower:

thanks for the info, one question - the price that they take out, is that a set price or does it change depending on what you're selling (mom23boys don't know if you can answer this seeing that you sold all your stuff for about the same price

thanks again!

Thet take $.99 plus a % of the price. The % varies depending on the classification of the item. :flower:

I love Amazon simply for the fact that you do not have to put together an item description, upload the pictures, or take care of collecting the payment. Also, if your item never sells you never pay -- which is not true with EBAY.

I've never taken the trouble of comparing their fees with EBAY directly. But by the time you pay your listing fees and then Paypal fees with EBAY, I very often feel cheated. To list a book with amazon usually takes me about 60 seconds. To put together an EBAY listing can take 15 minutes to 1/2 hour depending....

Adult books sell very well on Amazon. I just sold our 2nd copy of HPHBP for about $15. Amazon's fee is $3.24. So I will net $11.75. Since I bought it for around $15 + tax, not too bad. One thing I always do is look at the lowest current price and beat it by a couple of cents, unless it is way too low. That way my listing is always at the top and my books almost always sell. I probably lose a couple of dollars here and there doing that, but I get my money and the books out of my house quicker. College textbooks sell best beginning to mid August to September. Since your listing will remain active for 30 days, you can certainly start listing them now.

Now children's books don't do so well on Amazon unless they are hardback new releases. Those I usually have to bundle into groups of 5 or 10 books and sell on EBAY.

I just sold my first item :cool1:

$12 profit for a book that was just sitting on a shelf -woo hoo!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc
