Just saying. BCV

Conversely, the "woods view" at BCV should much more correctly be called the "trees infested and overgrown by years of out of control weeds" view.

Don't you think something like "Passive Aggressive Congested Forest" view would be a much more accurate description; or at least sugar coat the truth a bit with a more Disney themed name like the "Enchanted Jungle" view.

This made my day.

We make requests at OKW - usually for first floor and near hospitality house. I know they have changed some of the rooms to make that a booking category, unfortunately the rooms in the booking category aren't the ones we like - we like the newest buildings (61, 62, 63???) We haven't stayed at OKW for a couple years though.

We tried the Treehouses the summer they opened and requested one as close to the walking trail to the main resort as possible. We got that and loved it. I was using a scooter and didn't want to have to load on an internal bus and then on the park buses so we wanted to be close enough to walk to a main bus stop.

Last summer we stayed at Beach Club and made no requests (may have requested first floor - I don't remember). Where we were was great. We were down at the end of the hall near the parking lot, which made hauling in a week's worth of stuff for 6 people easier. Loading it back up at the end of the week was tougher because they were painting while we were there, so that door was blocked for awhile.

We have also stayed (just DH & I without the kids) at Boardwalk in a studio - no requests, but got a wonderful studio with a "garden" classification that overlooked the area in front of the big porch that connects the Villas and the Inn. It also gave us a decent view of the Boardwalk and some of the fireworks. We are going back again this week and have a 1BR instead of a studio and still have a "garden/pool" category, so I am curious to see what we get this time. We also stayed in a studio at AKL-Kidani. There was nothing spectacular about it. If you looked totally sideways off the balcony you could see the edge of the savannah - but we were not impressed. Not that we requested or expected a savannah view. In general we were impressed with how beautiful the resort was -- it is just not our "style" and for us the location wasn't good and "for us" the room was just a room.

There are no great views at BCV, it was after all built in the parking lot. So I think we all have to accept that when booking BCV.

Secondly, when you book has no bearing at all on getting a request.

Also BCV is one of the most heavily booked resorts second only to BWV during Food and Wine.

Therefore occupancy is high, getting a request is greatly reduced during those times.

Simply they can not put you in a room that is not empty when you get there.

Plus we have to all remember DVC's focus right now is Sales not the current membership. So the cash guests are going to get the better views so they can hopefully turn that cash guest into a DVC member. Only after they have them, will they realize the views are not so great in most rooms.

Birds love the thickets and I love watching the birds. Mockingbirds and Cardinals were amusing me on my last stay, earlier last month.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Thanks for saying this Bobbi. I was too embarrassed before, but now I have the courage to add that with my last woods view, I had a Cooper's Hawk sitting in a certain tree every morning. By the third day, I looked forward to what I decided was him waiting for me to wake up. Sounds wierd, I know, but for a birder, woods views are great.

There are no great views at BCV,

I just returned from a trip with a courtyard view and I loved it. It may have been my best WDW view ever. I loved sitting out first thing in the morning, watching the comings and goings of CMs and guests. The nights were just as good for people watching as guests returned from the parks.

I suppose this isn't technically a "view", as it wasn't scenic, but I thought it was great nonetheless. Love my people watching and seeing what made the place run.

What happens when all the sweet, beautiful birds have to start using machetes and blow torches to fly through the thicket?????

Best wishes,
David

Just stayed at AKL and during on-line check-in the one preference you could select was "Close to transportation), so I checked that one. Ended up one section away from the farthest point you could be from transportation!! I laughed. It didn't bother me at all.

Dean, you have much more confidence in Disney IT than I do ;) There are a number of common sense things that are long overdue and would go far to helping both MS and Owners alike that seem to beyond Disney IT's abilities to implement, without a full system shut down/reprogram. Things such as automated watilist fulfillment, ability to "hold" inventory for booking, online availability and even the online booking that is coming is long overdue and isn't anything new to IT professionals.

As for request, like others I make my request at check in and am ok if they don't get fulfilled, but I do add them at time of booking (just so I can say that I did request something). I have been served well by front desk CM's and have been ok with not getting what I want, but it never hurts to ask.
Maybe, we'll see. I think it's foolish not to put in appropriate requests at the time of booking as often they do pay attention, it's just that often they don't also.

Just sayin again. lolol! I would like to have a woods view, Because, I see tons of people all day in the parks and I would like to sit on my balcony and just look at the trees. We're from Maine, I'm not even use to sleeping with the sound of traffic, why would I want to do it in Disney? Trust me people room 367 you can see the Epcot ball. Yes it was a great sight , but not at all quiet. OK ready for the fire balls , I know I know I'm in Disney it's going to be noisy and very loud and tons of traffic. Just sayin.:dance3: I'm going back and staying at the BWV requested a Boardwalk view. Go figure. lololol:rolleyes1

Im just sayin......Boardwalk view is a booking category:goodvibes

Please dont be disappointed if you only requested it and end up with a view of the scary clown slide!:lmao:

If you are particular about your balcony view, BCV is bottom of the list for me. I love SSR, many peaceful views and AKV.:cloud9:

Just remember that a request is only that.....simple request. DVC never gaurentees a request to be filled

I don't like to do online check in because I like to have more control (or feel like I do anyway). ;) If you do not like the room you are given; just ask to switch. Another room may not be available but it doesn't hurt to ask. As far as the check in time, never expect or assume, to be in your room prior to the 3pm check in time. I find timeshares, DVC included, are pretty strict with this check in time. Hotels seem more flexible. If there is a preferred view, and you are not paying for it, don't expect it. I am not familiar with this particular resort so can't comment on whether the view you requested was preferred or not, or if you paid the extra points for a preferred view. Not saying this is the case here, but I always wonder when I read threads of people complaining how far they had to walk to the bus, or food court and how they didn't want to pay the extra $$ for a preferred location.

Good luck on your room next year.

When we did that (asked to switch once we saw the room), we were told we'd have to pay the DVC room-change fee, I think it was $25. Yet, we'd been given a HA room, no tub. These achy muscles really need a tub, but the front desk told us that a tub was not a DVC guarantee and so we'd have to pay. Since then, I've always had the HA room #s memorized, so we can deal with the issue at the front desk.
FWIW, when I was given a HA room at BCV, they moved me without question or fee.

As mentioned by ccgirl, you may want to switch to an AKL Savannah view if peace and quiet are what you are looking for. There should be no savannah view rooms next to or facing any roads at all. On top of that you'll have trees and animals outside your windows.

While most of SSR is quiet, there are some sections near roads that can be quite loud.

A change because of personal preferences is reasonable to be charged the change fee though often they don't if you just walk in and don't disturb the room.
