Just Saved over $400 using Disney gift cards purchased at Target!

Angie789 - Thank you for your very quick reply!

I LOVED the answer to 1), but not 2)! Oh well. If I wanted to leave the magic and find a Target nearby on the 6th to pay for the last few days of the trip, I suppose I could, but I tend to like to stay in the Disney bubble. Hmmm....if a Target is very close and easy to find I could maybe save an extra $200.....but then that would be hanging over me.

At least I can still get the $45.13 cards before the trip with the RedCard and pharmacy coupon.

Thanks for the tip, though! I am sure it will help a lot of people and I can at least plan a Christmas/groceries trip for that second December weekend.

I feel your pain! We'll be at Disney from December 7-14. This trip is already paid for, but I am trying to buy up cards for a DCL cruise we have in the works. So, in the midst of all my last minute packing, I'll be trying to hit up a bunch of Targets before we go.

And one more point:

The coupon is generally "1 coupon per transaction per guest". It is usually an internet coupon from the Target website and you can print it twice from any computer. In order to "roll" the deal several times, you will need multiple computers and will need to check out once per coupon. Some stores will permit you to get in line and do multiple transactions at the register. Others will require you to get back in line for each transaction. And other stores will actually require you to leave and come back to make another transaction. YMMV.

The coupon also has a short lifespan. Usually, it's about a week.

Target has offered this deal 2-3 times during the month of December in the past couple of years.

And some stores will not allow you to use more than one coupon. We had that happen last year at one store. Fortunately we have several Targets in our area so we just went to another. All told, it saved us about $750 off our $3,800 trip so it was worth the running around.

Does anybody know if you can use the online pharmacy reward to buy Disney gift cards? I know the limit is 10 of the $50 cards online but if I combined a 5% pharmacy online with my 5% target card discount that would be $500 worth of cards for about $450

The Pharmacy Reward online code does not work on gift cards.

You can charge the tips to your stateroom and then pay your balance on your account using the GCs.

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2 I went out bought $150 worth of cards and plan to get more. When I booked my cruise in Jan, I asked a Target Team Member if I could use my Redcard to get the 5% on the Disney Gift Cards and they told me no. I wish I had found this board sooner because I would have paid for my cruise entirely with gifts cards.

Hello friends! Just thought I would share:

While Target considers the Disney gift cartds to be "entertainment" cards the Disney store does not and they don't qualify for any discounts :(

But do not fret yet! You can create a profile with Upromise and you receive money back on all online purchases. Currently you get 5% back when routed through the website to Target and Disney. The Disney Cruise Line is 4%. But wait there's more! If you open a Upromis Mastercard you get an additional 5% back through online shopping on Upromise along with $25 back on your first purchase. WOOHOO!

Disney cards are designated entertainment cards and yes you can use the Pharmacy reward coupon & code towards them!
It won't work online. Only works in the B&M stores. Believe me. I've tried it online.

Are you talking about online only? I was hopping to do it online to earn more back. But oh well.

I did go into my target store to try the 5% back with the red card on a disney GC and it did work. YAY

I don't know how to state it more clearly.

The Target charge card and Target debit cards work on both target.com and at Target brick-and-mortar stores to earn 5% off your purchase of Disney gift cards.

The Target Pharmacy Rewards coupon earned through the Target Pharmacy Rewards program will work to get you an additional 5% off in the brick-and-mortar stores but not when you use the accompanying coupon code in the online store for purchasing Disney gift cards.

Just went to Target on Sunday to test out buying Disney GC's with the redcard...only bought $100 worth because despite all these posts, it sounded like one of those "too good to be true" things. But it worked and only cost $95! (Hey, every little bit helps) We only need $1,300 more in cards, though, so all told the GC's will only save me $70. But that's nothing to sneeze at! That's $ for two nice dinners!

I only wish I had a friend who was a Target employee so I could give them $ to buy me cards at a greater discount! ;) The Frugal Fran in me is raring to go!

I called and asked a CM this question, but would like to see if anybody has actually successfully done it:
Our package payoff date is Dec 1st. My question is this: If I pay the package with my credit card before Dec 1st and then get gift cards later, can I call and have them applied to my package and get the money refunded to my credit card? The CM said that yes, I could do that and seemed quite sure it would work. Has anybody applied gift cards after a package payoff date and gotten credit back to their credit card? (I'm hoping that Target will offer it's $10 off a $50 purchase coupon in early December like they have before...)

I just read that: Target will be handing out 20% off storewide purchase coupons at checkout to be used from 12/1-12/7.
If I have my red card 5% and a pharm rewards for 5% AND that coupon for 20% - think I can stack to buy my Disney Cards to pay off our Feb trip?

Last year it he promo was a little different, but yes people were able to stack them with both the red card and pharmacy rewards.

When are they handing these out??!! I have been waiting for this year's big discount. Last year you got $10 gift card with $50 of purchases by printing their coupon online.

I'll echo everyone else... where did you read this? I just checked the forums on Totally Target and the Slickdeals Target forum, and I don't read it there... :confused3

Both the dates AND the ability to get more than one at a time so I don't have to hit up every computer at my work would be... pixiedust:

I hope this rumor is true, but I'm not getting excited 'til I know more.
