Just Saved over $400 using Disney gift cards purchased at Target!

Has anybody ever tried to use the 10 percent coupon on them?

If you mean the 10% movers coupon, yes, I tried it a few weeks ago and it did not take any money off of the gift cards.

I just purchased over $4,000 worth of Disney gift cards at Target using my 5% pharmacy and 5% Target debit card...Woot Woot! Used them to pay off my trip with some left to spend at Disney in July!!! Saved $400...so I purchased some more to spend at Disney! It took over an hour to give gift card numbers to Disney operator..but he was very patient and helpful...VERY!!!! Trip is now paid for and I am feeling the Pixie Dust tonight!!

WOW!!!! That's an AWESOME idea! I have like $1600 left on my trip that's due at the end of next month. I'm totally doing that because I have the Debit card and will surely have a pharmacy rewards by then! This is why I LOVE this site! Such a wealth of info! :)

Target store credit card. Not Visa and not a debit card (although I believe those allow 5% off, too?)

Target now has a Debit card that you can use like your red card. It gives you the same 5% but the money automatically comes out of your account. That's why she was able to pay the whole amount, because it was in her bank account.

Post edited because I emailed my travel agency (Small World Vacations) to ask if they accept GC's as payment also. She said it's no problem whatsoever to pay with GC's, but just cautioned me to either pay at the hotel itself (ASMu) or, if I paid earlier, to hang onto the gift cards because if I had to cancel (as we actually did once...wah) or if there is a promotion that comes out where I could get a refund, it will go back to the gift cards. Yikes! Good to know! A PP said how they entered the GC's on a spreadsheet and emailed it to the travel agent and mine said that was ok.

I do not have the pharmacy discount and won't be getting it as I don't need pills and I get my flu shot free through Kaiser. So the pharmacy thing is a coupon for a one-day (ie. one time) shopping trip of 5% off? Maybe I can find a pal who gets their prescriptions through Target and ask for a favor.

Thanks for this excellent tip... the hotel room balance is about $1,100. I figure we'll spend another $1,000 on food and souvenirs so a GC discount should save a little bit!

So what you guys are saying is that they are NOT considered gift cards they are considered entertainment cards and you can use coupons on them?

Yes, they are considered entertainment cards. I've never had a 10% coupon, but yesterday I used my 5% red card and 5% pharmacy rewards together on gift cards to pay for all of the "extras" on our trip next week.

I got confirmation from my agent I can use the GC to pay my package balance (even if booked with a Disney visa promo) so it should work for any travel agent.

To get a pharmacy award quick quick quick flu shots count each as a point. SO our family of 4 will almost get our next 5% in one day (plus I have another I need to fill). We need the flu shots anyway :)

Just got my flu shot at Target. My insurance paid for it 100%, but the tech said that I would still get "credit" for getting the shot there.

Also, just got something in the mail - prescriptions (and I wonder if shots too) get double credit in the month of October.

Question; I have $3000 in Disney GC (all from target, $50 each). Can I 'trade' them in at a Disney store for GCs that are larger denominations? I'm afraid that my TA is going to disown me!!!

Thanks!

I don't think you can do that. Try calling in 10 cards each day. Makes it a little less daunting. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the head's up on double credit for October! I tried to get my flu shot at Target about 2 weeks ago but for some reason my insurance company didn't approve it and they advised I'd need to pay OOP about $29. I called United and they advised Target was in-network so if it didn't go through I could submit for reimbursement. I thought that sounded like too much trouble for my DH and I but honestly if I'll earn 4 points on that, it's worth it! :) I haven't gotten anything in the mail, or email and it seems like I never do :(

So again, thanks for the heads up and based on other experiences, it should count twice just like the other "prescriptions" so fingers crossed. :thumbsup2

I know the prescriptions will count twice, but I'm not certain about the shots. I'm assuming so. Crossing fingers!

Great way to save some money on your Disney trip! If you have the 1000s set aside already for your trip this is a great way to do it!! :cool1: however :scratchin if you don't pay off the amount purchased in full at end of month the interested charges negates the savings and you end up paying more on those GCs!

Thanks for the great tips on using the Target Red card to buy Disney gift cards! Just purchased a couple today and got the 5% off. I'm a pharmacy rewards member, but wasn't scheduled to get a 5% any time soon. BUT when I went online to check my rewards balance, there was a link that said I could get a bonus 5% coupon by signing up to managing my pharmacy rewards online. Completed the quick online set up and a window popped up saying my reward coupons would be in the mail. Fingers crossed it will come soon and I can use the 5% red card AND 5% pharmacy for more Disney gift cards! Link is at the bottom right hand box on the targetpharmacyrewardsdotcom page.

OMG thanks so much for this!

I have Kaiser so I have to use their pharmacy. Sometimes when the kitty-children need meds though I can use Target, but since you let me know about the 5% just for signing up I figured what-the-hey! And now I have a 5% off offer coming my way! YAY! I have both the debit and credit card so I always save the 5% but 10% is WAY better ;) Thanks again!

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but October offers double pharmacy points. So until Oct 31, any prescriptions you fill will count twice - getting you to that reward even faster. If you have any that are running low, now's the time :-)

I have saved a lot of money doing this. My fiance and I are getting married in Disney World in February and since I work at Target I get my discount and the red card and the pharmacy. For this upcoming trip I think we have saved around $1500.

We are not eligible for the pharmacy rewards program in NJ (as well as a few other states). I tried :(

We aren't either, because my hubby is a retired disabled vet, so we have "government" insurance, even though we pay for it.

Congrats! I'm getting married at Disney in December. I keep paying down the balance a couple of gift cards at a time!
