Just spent our spring break at Pop 4/5-4/11. This was our first time at this resort. I've never stayed at a value before and I was pleasantly surprised. It was me, my ds14, ds10 and dd7. The room size was fine. I know many people say it is tiny, tiny. I wouldn't describe it that way. It was fine for what we used it for, sleeping and showering. There was enough room for our luggage, case of water and soda and our cooler. I brought a shower curtain and those 3M hooks to hang in the sink area - that worked great.
We checked in on Saturday around 9:15, check in took about 10 minutes. My son was given a birthday pin and asked what his favorite character was. I had over $400 on my rewards card. I could not apply it to my room charges then, I was told to come back after I had spent the money and then it would be applied. Our room was ready - We were given a room on the 3rd floor in the 80s. After dragging all our stuff to the room (it was far from the parking lot) we opened the door and it reeked of smoke!! I called the front desk and asked for a new room. Was assigned one (which was also ready!) in building 1, first floor (room 1156). This room was fine and in a great location. It was a parking lot view, but it was fine. It was fun walking around and seeing all the towel animals and toys in the windows. We didn't get a towel animal until we asked for one (I did tip daily). My son received a birthday card and balloons from Mickey on our second day. That was a surprise for him!
Everything Pop was fine. Lots of selection, but we didn't care too much for the food. We got one refillable mug for the younger two to share the frozen coke. Saw many people using old Pop mugs and using any old cups for drinks. Never saw a CM say anything to anyone. Bought lots of stuff in the store. A little advice, if you spend $40 you can buy a WDW tote bag for $10. I bought way more than $40, but in drips and drabs, not at once. The night before we left I spoke to the manager who allowed me to buy the tote anyway after I showed receipts.
I've heard about noise from other rooms - I didn't hear anyone talking. The people in the room next door even stopped me to apologize for their crying baby and hoped he hadn't disturbed us. I told her I never heard him, which was true. However, you definetly hear toilets flushing and showers running. Again, no big deal. We watched Epcot fireworks one night by the lake. That was nice, saw lots of bunnies and ducks. I did see lots of people sitting outside of their rooms with chairs smoking and drinking. I didn't like that, but it wasn't by my room so I was fine with it.
We only used the bus to MK one time. Waited about a half hour to get picked up from Pop. At the MK, Pop was the furthest stop but the busses kept coming in for pick up so there was no wait. We used our car the rest of the time and we all liked it better than the bus.
I think I would stay here again - I don't think I would in the summer though. I bet the pool and food court would be packed. I was waiting for my kids to complain about the resort since we've been lucky enough to stay at the Poly and the WL but they liked it.
Just wanted to share my thoughts of the resort. Any questions, I'll try and answer. Sorry it was so long!
My kids liked the pool. I was worried about not having a slide (we've always stayed at mods and deluxes) but they never said anything and just had a great time.
