Just returned from Polynesian

Just back to reality since Wednesday We got to Disney on Friday the 13th...On my reservations I requested longhouse Samoa with the Volcano pool for my view. My mom and brother also came and had it also in their reservations. Now I know it is only a request but every time we go to Disney maybe I have just been lucky but I always have received what I requested So when we checked in, we had the adjoining rooms BUT we were overlooking the quiet pool in Samoa. Or rather I should say we were overlooking the little house down there the ROOF...Needless to say I was a bit bummed. Mainly because it was my moms first time at Poly and I just wanted it to be perfect for her. So I went to the front desk. First girl who tried helping me as NOT helpful at all. So I left feeling like ok lets just make the best of it, because the girl said nothing else was available. On my walk back, I thought no I am gonna try again. So I went back and talked to another front desk person. His name was Tobie, and he was AWESOME. He called the room people and they found 2 rooms in FIJI on the 3rd floor but across the hall from one another. I was hesitant because I never stayed on that side of the resort. So Tobie walked me over to the building and showed me where the rooms were.

The rooms were AWESOME!!! I LOVE FIJI....WE overlooked the marina and my mom stayed on the other side and she overlooked the beach and the Grand Floridian....I will definitely request Fiji next time. I loved being on the water, and its a Garden view price.

My point of the thread is, I wanted to give a shout out to Tobie. I also went to Poly management and told them how he came through for me. I was hesitant to change and so glad I did. Tobie made another trip to Disney a little more magical for my family.

Hi Jemmouse! This is great information! I've been staying at Poly since childhood, but only started focusing on longhouse differences more recently. We were in Samoa with a volcano pool view last year (no request, just luck of the draw) and it was amazing. So I thought that, when booking GV, I would always make that request. So happy to hear that you loved Fiji! How do you think you will articulate your request in the future?

Fiji is our most favorite longhouse. It's so under rated. When people ask which longhouse they should stay in on here, NO ONE ever suggests the Fiji....except for me! We always get marina view 3rd floor. Who wouldn't want to be that close to the GCH!! I'm so glad you had a great trip! We leave for 10 days at the Poly in a month!!

I'm glad you had a great trip. We spent 10 days in the Samoa/volcano pool view room last May. It is a wonderful view. I will keep Fiji in mind if we go back to a non club level room on our next trip. The only time I have paid for a upgraded view was at Wl, and we ended up with a terrible view. The cm was not too helpful when I asked to be moved. At the BC I was upgraded to a water view when I paid for a GV. I guess it evens out in the long run. I made no requests this trip. I am hoping for a little pixie dust.

So glad you ended up loving your new longhouse! On one of our trips we were given a room with a stop sign as our view...I went down to the office, they gave us a room with a view of the castle!! (Although now it's more of a resticted view due to trees..) I guess you sometimes get a great cast member willing to go the extra mile for you....

Another vote for Fiji! We stayed in this longhouse in 1974 on our first Disney trip. When we went with extended family in 2007 we again stayed at the Poly and was assigned a garden view room in one of the longhouse that have larger rooms (I can't remember the name of it). It was nice, but we were overlooking the housekeeping area below our room, and requested to be changed. Ironically enough we were given Fiji AGAIN and loved it.

Thanks for the information. We will be at the Poly in August with a GV and I requested Somoa Longhouse. I am hoping to have the Volcano Pool view but we will take whatever we can get . Glad you had a wonderful time in the Fiji longhouse. We can't wait for our first stay .

Love the Poly! We have never requested a longhouse and we have loved everyone we have stayed at. But the last time we stayed at Poly, we didn't request, but we got Figi and loved loved it! I miss the Poly so much but the family have wanted to try some new resorts.

Glad you had a great trip and glad you loved the Fiji building . Sorry you had a not so great experience with the first CM when trying to change rooms, but glad Tobie made it happen . We love everything about the Poly and can't wait to return .

I love those CMs that go out of their way for us!! Thats a great story!!

Back in Sept we had a bad experience checking into Poly CL and then when we finally got our room around 4 the door wouldnt stay shut! DH called front desk we were moved to a third floor TPV room! What is better than Poly CL TPV?? I was in heaven! Watched Wishes from the balcony they had the music piped in the bushes below it was amazing!, At night I watched castle change colors from bed!
