Hi guys, dh and I went down to HHI for 3 days for a no kids' mini-vacation. When we arrived Sunday night, around 6:30, they upgraded us from a studio to a 2 br!! Yay, I got my own TV!! At home, our tv is permanently tuned to Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, or the History Channel. This is the second time in 7 stays, we've been upgraded. They were doing some repairs at the main lodge, where most of the studios are, so maybe that's why we were moved.
We headed over to San Miguel's for dinner. This is one of our favorite restaurants, and it was delicious as always. We enjoy walking around the marina the first evening there. It's a peaceful relaxing way to get into vacation mode.
We woke up Monday, went jogging, then had lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse. I ordered a grilled shrimp dish with rice and veggies, and dh had a chicken sandwich with fries. We'd never eaten there, and were pleasantly surprised. Afterwards, we played some miniature golf at Adventure Cove. We had the course to ourselves, so no pressure on us slackers.
DH went back to take some photos around the resort, and I went shopping at Piggly Wiggly and the mall. What is it with women's clothes? Ick, nothing was jumping out at me, so I went back to the resort. We had a cocktail on the porch, then went back to San Miguel for dinner.
Tuesday morning, we went jogging again. I love going through all the neighborhoods over at Palmetto Dunes, just daydreaming that we actually live there.
Then we went out to Signe's for lunch. I'd heard good things about it. We almost got lost getting there. It's way back in a sort of industrial park. It was very busy when we got there. You place your order at a counter, then go sit down, and the server brings you your drinks and food. I had a hot turkey/provolone sub, and dh had a reuben sandwich. Both were yummy. The only glitch is when you go to pay, you stand in line at the bakery. There were only 3 parties ahead of us, but it took 10 minutes just to pay. Everyone was getting cookies, slice of pie, etc to go. We were just pleasantly stuffed.
I went shopping over at the outlets, while dh went back to take a nap. There's a Crocs outlet at the Tanger 2 buildings. I bought shoes for the kids. They had $4.99 clog-style crocs for little kids. Awesome deal, I grabbed 2 pair for our youngest. They were $19.99 for big kids, so got 1 pair for our 10 yr old. I found some nice women's clothes at Ann Taylor Factory Store. They weren't super cheap, but my wardrobe really needs help, so it was worth it.
When I got back, dh was downloading photos. He'd gone out on the marsh, and took many photos of crabs fighting with each other. The male crabs wave their large claw at the other male crabs in some type of alpha crab turf war. The loser retreats to his crab hole. He said it was really funny.
For dinner, we'd seen the shrimp boil advertised over at the Beach House. When we got there, B'Lou Crabbe was playing his banjo. He's kind of a low-key, engaging fellow. On the buffet, there was Caesar salad, green beans, rice and gumbo, chicken tenders, mac-n-cheese, fried fish, shrimp, red potatoes, and corn. For dessert there was cheesecake and pumpkin pie.
I wouldn't recommend the buffet for picky eaters. But if you like shrimp/potatoes/corn on the cob, it was yummy.
We both ate way too much, and it was a chilly evening so we went back to the room, instead of strolling on the beach like we planned.
This was a great trip. The HHI Disney cast members have always done a great job, and this was no exception.
If I can answer any questions, I'd be glad to.
