DH and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a week at an oceanfront resort. It was the Sanctuary at False Cape. It's all the way at the end of Sandbridge, right next to the wildlife refuge. If you're not familiar with Sandbridge, it's a little like the Outer Banks. Several streets of beach houses in rows. It is a little remote, no fast food, or major grocery stores for miles.
The Sanctuary has 2 buildings of condos with 2-5 bedrooms. It has 3 pools, 2 gyms, game room, onsite restaurant etc. It's painted in pastel Carribean colors. We stayed in a 3 br/ 3 1/2 bath unit. It looked like it was only a couple of years old. Nice gourmet kitchen, and we had 3 separate balconies. Our rental faced the ocean, so the views and sound of the ocean were just amazing. We had really decent weather, it only rained 1 day.
My parents were watching our kids. We had a Saturday to SAturday rental. We asked Mom and Dad to bring the kids down Thursday, so they could all stay a couple of nights. We figured after 5 days with the kids, my parents might need a break!!!
Both the kids and Mom and Dad really enjoyed the resort. We're talking about booking a stay next August, so everyone can be together for the week, and not worry about missing school.
We haven't stayed at the beach in probably 15 years. Man I forgot how much work there is the morning of checkout!!! DH and I worked for an hour and a 1/2 on emptying the fridge/trash, pulling all the linens together, straightening up after our younger dd, etc.
I have always liked vacations at WDW. Our family likes to stay busy, have lots to do etc. Usually after 3 days at the beach, I'm bored and looking for stuff to do. Not this trip. We rarely spend time away from our kids, and it was so relaxing to cook grown up foods, not have to cut up anyone's meals, etc.
