This was our first stay @ POR and enjoyed it very much. I cant wait to get my pictures developed. I took about 100 pics of just the resort. The gardens and walkways are breathtaking. We stayed in Magnolia Bend Room # 5668. It was on the lower lever about halfway. We never heard a peep out of anyone. It is a very quiet resort. The rooms were very clean and well kept. We got caught in a terrible rain storm on our way back from DTD and called for extra towels about 11:30 at night. They had them to our room in 5 minutes. Great service! We timed the walk to the main building. It was about a 6 minute walk and about the same to the eastside bus depot. The bus service was fine. Never a long wait in the morning and not too bad at night. I think the key is to get to the bus stops before 8:00am. On our last day we did not get to the bus stop until 8:30 and it was packed. We had to take the bus to DTD instead of the boat because it was storming. I really wanted to take that boat ride. Maybe next time. My inlaws really enjoyed their stay. They stayed at the resort one day and took in all the sights. They talked about it all the way home last night. My children 12 and 16 were not as impressed with POR as they were with WL but they still liked it well enough. They did not like the pool for some reason. We only got to swim for about an hour one night. I thought it was fine. Hope I can help if anyone has questions.

We have stayed at POR in the AB section bldg. 14 and loved it. As seen by the maps, it the perfect location and we loved this area. I think this resort is a 6 key resort at a 5 key price. Now that we are DVC members we have not been back but want to. I recommend this resort very highly. Both sections have some of the nicest landscaping of any resorts on property. The breakfast at Boatwrights is so large that on the second and third days there after we discovered it we shared a breakfast. The boat ride to DTD is very pleasant and relaxing...smjj

Thanks for the review. We are staying here for the first time in August, and I can hardly wait.

Please post your pictures if you can - I love seeing the pictures because the resort just looks so beautiful!

Glad you had a wonderful trip! Our first family vacation to WDW is in August and we will be staying at POR. I can't wait!

I love reading about this resort as we're staying there for the first time in December. I was a little hesitant at first but then i started reading reviews and seeing the pictures and now cannot wait!!

Another thankful reader! We stay there for the 1st time in October and I'm SO excited!

Question : Our reservation is for WaterView (with a request for Mansions) and my parents want to make sure they have a good view of the river. Any recommendations on buildings?

I am so glad that you enjoyed the resort. We will be there for the first time in 17 more days. I can hardly wait. I was concerned when I picked this resort because I had seen a lot of negative posts. Thank you for the positive posts. :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:

I too am very glad that you had a wonderful time at POR. We will be there in 7 days :cool1: this is my first time staying at this resort, however, my DH stayed there when it was Dixie Landings and highly recommended this resort when we go. Last time we were at Disney we had breakfast at Boatwright's and walked around and it looked gorgeous so I didn't mind my DH's recommendation. I too requested Magnolia Bend with a waterview room, hopefully we get this because I just love how they look like they are right out of Gone With a Wind.

I'm so glad to hear you liked the resort as my wife and I will be staying here for our first time the week of October 21-28 this year. I think i may have stayed there a LONG time ago when it was Dixie Landings though, but remember very little of it and the wife definately has never been. I too have requested a mansion room.

I do have a question though, can you give me details on the arcade at PO:R? What's it called, is it large or small and does it have those prize redemption counters the value arcades have? Pictures would also be nice if anyone has any. The wife loves to indulge in this crazy stuff on vacation, last year she played at the Fast Forward Arcade at POP every night for the whole trip just to win a Tinkerbell lamp.

The nice part about POR is that its like two resorts in one. You have the Mansion section and the Alligator Bayou section. We stayed in the AB section bldg. 14 and it is beautiful. The quite pools have the feel of coming accross a pond in the forest. We walked over to the Mansion section and it also is very nice but preferred the AB section. Each quest needs to try and take time to venture over the the section opposite of the one they are staying at to fully appriciate this resort..smjj

I would also love to hear about the arcade at POR !!
any details ??

My son and nephew in law played in the arcade a few times. I think its called "Medicene Show Arcade"
They seemed to enjoy it but the are video game junkies. They purchased a game card instead of tokens.

Glad to read such a good review. I'm hoping to stay at Port Orleans in '09 when my gf and I get to go to the world again!

I cant really give you any recommendations. We were about half way between the parking lot and the river. You could see the river from the side walk at our room but not from the window. Sorry

Thanks for the info, do you know if they could win prizes by playing in there?Like they can at POP and the Contemporary.

Does anyone know how long the boat ride is to DTD? Is it 15 or 30 minutes?
