The other thing about running out the storm is they're going to be really booking it. Cruise routes rarely use the higher speeds of the ship, and with rough seas + higher speeds, they would have chundering passengers. Others would be expecting the level of service they paid for, etc. etc.

Hot mess. Just say no.

Well, the hurricane force winds stretch out 50 miles from the center, so if it comes up through the middle of the state...........that is a 100 mile wide path of hurricane winds coming at us. Unless the eye is in the water on one side or the other..........we will get hurricane winds here.

but the force usually lessens the moment it hits land...

if it makes landfall at on the tip of southern florida (as some forecasters predict), it will change to a tropical storm as it moves up towards orlando...

either way, if you're in a disney resort building, you'll be protected....just follow instructions..

Well, when Charley made it to Orlando as a cat 3 a number of years ago, it was pretty devastating what it did here. We lost power at our house for 5 days when it was still 90 degrees outside every day. Downed trees everywhere, no gas at stations, flooding, etc.

Looks like it could easily still be a 3 when it gets here.

Well, when Charley made it to Orlando as a cat 3 a number of years ago, it was pretty devastating what it did here. We lost power at our house for 5 days when it was still 90 degrees outside every day. Downed trees everywhere, no gas at stations, flooding, etc.

Looks like it could easily still be a 3 when it gets here.

We are booked on the Dream on the 15th. So the ship will be empty when we board. Wonder if DCL will allow people to board early? Presumably all the rooms will be ready when we get on the ship.

We are keeping an eye on Jose....the storm behind Irma. Hopefully it dies out and does not grow. My daughter, my sister and I are all VERY prone to motion sickness! Not looking forward to rough waters.

Anyone have any insight into how Castaway Cey is doing? I'm not sure exactly where CC is relative to the hurricane?

They will not leave the ship in port.

That is what I was thinking but am not in the know on these things. I just know if it were my boat I would not want to be moored to the dock when the 185 hit. Not just wind damage to the ship but all the debris blowing against the ship. Out at sea you have waves and wind but the ship is designed to take that. It can also maneuver around the storm. Sitting in port she is a sitting duck.

Mybe it would make sense to change the dates on that, seems crazy to go in sept and we are traveling from UK too

I was supposed to sail on the 09/09 cruise and got word last night it was cancelled. While I'm sad, this worked out for the better as the hubby and I live in Central Florida and have been anxiously keeping eyes on Irma this past week. It will be relieving to be home and with our parrots while it passes instead of out at sea and worrying.

I spoke to a CM last night and rebooked for 09/16. I was informed that they will not honor the additional 25% discount unless your new sailing is between 09/18 and 10/18, however I was booked with the Florida resident discount which saved us $1000. I'm taking that and running with it, absolutely no complaints from me!

As with all weather conditions, it's quite possible your cruise will have glorious, sunny weather. Or not.

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Kinda limits when you can go, if you're hoping to avoid hurricanes. We've sailed the Caribbean in Sep 5 times, and Oct once. No hurricanes during our cruises. But it was possible.

That's funny. I read that notice from Disney to mean you had to call between Sep 18 and Oct 18 to get the 25% discount, not sail between those dates. I'm actually surprised they would have enough availability at this late date to accommodate everyone that wanted to rebook during that short of a time period - especially in a particular category.

I agree with Pens Fan. The wording says "Guests are invited to book a future cruise at a 25 percent discount by calling us at 1-855-347-2784 or 407-566-7054 from September 18, 2017, through October 18, 2017."

Not "Guests are invited to book a future cruise from September 18, 2017 through October 18, 2017"

I'd suggest you call and get the true story. Unless you're OK with the cruise you've got.

I called last night and they said the booking window would not open until 9/18 for the cancelled cruises to get the 25% discount.

Good point. If re-booking during a higher priced season, you still may not come out ahead.

What happens if I get there few days before and the flight worked out pointless would an insurance company refund my flight if I have already taken the flight but the cruise got cancelled

Maybe. You'd have to read the policy. Each policy is different. I'm pretty sure they would cover a new flight (back home) in that instance, but not sure about the original flight out, as you were able to take that.

What I mean is would I need to repay a new flight for my next cruise

Or would disney or insurance company help or refund the flight that was pointless
