When we started out on our cruise Monday I never thought that our trip would include a sea rescue . It was interesting to see a small raft floating off the coast of Cuba with 8 men on it and then seeing the Coast Guard come to the ship to pick the men up. Just wondering what will happen to them ?

I believe that since they did not step foot on US soil, the USCG (or some feds unit) will return them to Cuba!

PS Well done Wonder and Conquest!

I think this is fairly common. Someone on a recent cruise referred to our cruise industry as Cuba's Coast Guard.

Stupid question. Where do the refugees (or what you would call the rescued people in this case) stay? Saw this on the news and wondered if they keep them in crew quarters. They wouldn't put them up in staterooms and have them dine at the MDRs right?

They are put in jail...
Every ship has a jail and a morgue.

The USCG picked them up about an hr after they were picked up by the Wonder So they were not on the ship that long
