Just off the Dream 11/25-28/2016

Did the gingerbread house making use the kits or were they the fresh-baked soft kind? Just saw in another thread who got kits out of Galveston!

It appeared to be freshly made onboard. It wasn't super soft but it wasn't like rock hard. Very tasty.

Water was frigid at Castaway and very windy. There were people in the water but we just laid in hammock all day. The weather was gorgeous otherwise.
We were on your cruise! I thought it was windy at Castaway Cay, but the water was not too bad. We are from New England, so for us the ocean felt like it would at Cape Cod in July. We all went in and enjoyed the sun, which felt strong through the early and mid part of the day.

The food at Castaway Cay though, ugh. Overly spicy and dry overcooked burgers. That was a disappointment after the good meals on board.

How funny that the water was cold at Castaway Cay. We are sailing for the first time 11/17/17 for 3day. How cold does it get at night? I am thinking this may be a freezing cruise. Lol. How was it for you?
When we looked at temps they showed at 50-70 on all the weather apps, but it felt like it was 70-80 during the day. Short sleeves and shorts were comfortable. Nights were windy so you need a sweater to be comfortable. We did not get off at Nassau, but did for Castaway Cay. Ran the 5k which was nice because we were the first off the boat. The sun was really strong in the morning but by 3pm it felt like it was cooling off.

Hey, don't want to start a new thread to ask this. I forgot to get an itemized bill before we left our cruise yesterday. Do you know where I can get a copy? I'd like to know now what will be on my credit card before the statement arrives. Thanks in advance!

I believe you have to call or email for that. They usually leave it outside your door for you on the last morning right before demarcation. I've not ever seen anywhere you can view it online. (You used to be able to view your folio from your stateroom TV on the Dream but it hasn't worked my last 3 cruises)

Being from Florida, the water was way too cold for us. The weather itself though was absolutely gorgeous. At serenity bay there were literally only 5 people I ever saw get in the water. The crowd at serenity bay was also very light.

I tend to agree on the food at Castaway, it's not my favorite. I usually end up just getting a hamburger and way too many chocolate chip cookies lol

We sailed from Miami to Castaway Cay over New Years last year and had balmy weather throughout the cruise. The CC 5K was quite hot and humid.

The water at CC was chilly, but not frigid or freezing. Probably around 70 degree water- feels cold at first but you get used to it after being in for a while. We're from central Texas and are used to swimming in our region's cold natural springs, so had no problem with the water. Nor did the many others who were swimming or sliding on Pelican Plunge. If you need bathtub water temps to swim, though, you won't swim at CC in winter.

No problem reclining in a deck chair at night watching the ocean- the air was never cold at all. Sailing from Port Canaveral instead of Miami likely won't be as warm on the first day or last night of a mid-winter cruise.

Thanks for all the great info!!! The last night did anyone dress formal? What did characters wear? I know it says dress up optional... we always do formal but if characters aren't in anything fun maybe we won't .

is Santa out regularly like other characters to see throughout the cruise?

Also what nighttime shows were there?

This thread has been super helpful thanks again.

Surprisingly there were a lot of people dressed up, more than I remember seeing in the past but it is optional still (on the last night of a 3 night on the Dream.) The characters were dressed formal as well between the dinner and show.

There was a meet and greet with Santa on Nassau day but that was the only one.

The shows were just the same shows as usual. Golden Mickies, Villians Tonight, Believe.

Thank you thank you!!!

Being the last night were the photographers taking any pics at dinner time? I feel like a first time cruiser being a 3 day, I'm not sure what to expect !!!

Typically on the cruises I've been on the Dream, I have not seen photographers in the restaurants on the last night. They are still taking pictures everywhere else you just don't see them roaming around the restaurants.

Thank you so much for the update. We are getting ready for our 12/9 Merrytime Cruise on the Dream. This thread was really helpful.

I'm glad the dress-up is still optional. I'm planning to just wear a comfy dress. I'm really looking forward to total relaxation this trip. I'm actually trying not to over plan, which is really really hard. I've always had our suit cases packed by now! LOL But this cruise is a surprise for our children, so I'll be packing the night before we leave after they fall asleep.

We lost ours once and had to call DCL customer services to get it. It took a very long time for them to be able to get for us but we did get it an itemized list eventually
